Abstract:Four inorganic-organic hybrid materials based on poly(oxomolybdophosphate) cluster building blocks have been obtained by hydrothermal methods. 1 shows a 2-D sheet structure, 2 and 3 possess 1-D chain structures and 4 is the discrete cluster. Crystal structural analysis reveals that the dimensionality and organization of those compounds can be tuned by the pH value of the reaction system. In addition, the fluorescence emissions are analysed of compounds 1, 2 and 4 containing Cd atoms with d(10) electronic configuration red-shift along with the increase in the dimensions of those compounds.

Abstract:Through tuning different kinds of polyoxometalates (POMs), four POM-based inorganicorganic hybrid compounds with different dimensionalities, namely [(H2L)(2)(Mo8O26)] (1), [(Cu2L6)-L-II(P2W24O79)center dot 4H(2)O]center dot 7H(2)O (2), {(Cu2L2)-L-II(mu(2)-OH)[CrMo6(OH)(6)O-18]center dot 4H(2)O}center dot 4H(2)O (3), and {(Cu2Cu2L2)-Cu-I-L-II(mu(3)-OH)(2)[CrMo6(OH)(5)O-19]center dot 6H(2)O}center dot 4H(2)O (4) [L = 1,4-bis(3-pyridinecarboxamido)benzene], have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR spectroscopy, TG analysis, powder XRD and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray analyses reveal that compound 1 exhibits a two-dimensional (2D) supramolecular network, which is constructed from protonated L ligands and [Mo8O26](4-) anions through hydrogen bonding interactions. Compound 2 is a 1D hybrid chain based on an uncommon inorganic [P2W24O79](4-) chain and Y-shaped (CuL3)(2+) subunits. Compound 3 shows a 2D network constructed from 1D inorganic Cu-2-CrMo6 chains and bidentate L ligands, which is obtained at pH = 4.1. When the pH was adjusted to 4.8, compound 4 is obtained which exhibits a 4-connected {6(6)} 3D framework. The CrMo6 anions are connected by adjacent [(Cu2Cu2II)-Cu-I(mu(3)-OH)(2)(H2O)(6)](4+) subunits to form 1D Cu-4-CrMo6 inorganic chains, which are further extended by L ligands to construct a 3D network. The effect of different types of polyanions and pH values on the assembly and various structures of the title compounds has been discussed. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of 1 and 2, and the photocatalytic properties of 2 and 3 under different conditions have been investigated.

Abstract:Four octamolybdate hybrid materials based on a new flexible multidentate ligand, namely, H4L(gamma-Mo8O26) center dot 2H(2)O (1), [Cu(H2L)(beta-Mo8O26)(H2O)(2)] center dot 3H(2)O (2), [Cu(H2L)(gamma-Mo8O26)] center dot 3H(2)O (3), and Cu(HL)(2)(beta-Mo8O26) (4), where L is 1,1'-(1,4-butanediyl)bis[2-(4-pyridyl)benzimidazole], have been synthesized at different pH values under hydrothermal conditions. Compound 1, which is hydrothermally prepared at pH approximate to 1, exhibits a rare one-dimensional (1D) molybdenum oxide chain. Compounds 2 and 3 are hydrothermally obtained at pH approximate to 2.5. In 2, Cu-II cations are bridged by H2L2+ ligands and (beta-Mo8O26)(4-) anions to form an interesting two-dimensional (2D) layer. In 3, the H2L2+ ligands and (gamma-Mo8O26)(4-) clusters bridge adjacent Cu-II cations to form a 3D framwork. When the pH value is adjusted to 3.5, compound 4 is obtained. Because the HL+ cation acts as a monodentate ligand, compound 4 only exhibits a ID chain structure. The structural diversities of 1-4 reveal that the pH value of the reaction system plays a crucial role in the assembly of POM-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). In addition, the electrochemical property of compound 4 has also been investigated in 1 M H2SO4 aqueous solution.

Compound 1 is made up of unusual basket-shape [Sr ⊂ P(6)Mo(18)O(73)](10-) cages linked by [Sr(H(2)O)(4)](2+) fragments to yield unprecedented dimeric chains, which represent the first 1-D assemblies of basket-type POMs. Compound 2 exhibits a novel string constructed from sandwich-like [Cu(P(4)Mo(6)O(31))(2)] units and {Sr(2)Cu} trinuclear linkers. Compound 3 is the first chain of Strandberg-type polyoxoanions connected by Sr(2+) cations. All the 1-D chains are further packed into various 3-D supramolecular assemblies via strong hydrogen-bonding interactions. The electrochemical and electrocatalysis behavior of 1, 2, and 3-CPE have been investigated in detail.

Abstract:An organic-inorganic hybrid compound based on {PMo12} layers, [Ag(pz)(2)](6)[PMo12O40](2)center dot 3H(2)O 1 (pz = pyrazole), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, TG, IR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Two crystallographically independent [PMo12O40](3-) clusters are arranged in an AB-AB mode to give two kinds of supramolecular layers. The layers are further connected in a special alternating mode by [Ag(pz)(2)](+) linkers to form complex 3-D supramolecular network. Compound 1 exhibits good electrocatalytic activity in the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and shows fluorescence in the solid state at room temperature.

Abstract:Four novel supramolecular compounds based on Keggin phosphomolybdate and different organocations: (H2bpy)1.5[PMo12O40]·1.5H2O 1, (H2bpi)(Hbpi)[PMo12O40] 2, (H2bbi)(Hbpi)[PMo12O40] 3, (H2bbi)(Hbbi)[PMo12O40] 4, (bpy=4,4′-bipyridine, bpi=1,1′-(1,3-propanediyl)bis(imidazole), bbi=1,1′-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole)) have been hydrothermally prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG, XRD and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data analysis revealed that all the compounds are composed of discrete organonitrogen cations and [PMo12O40]3− polyanions and exhibits interesting supramolecular frameworks from one to three dimensions via electrostatic and hydrogen bond interactions. Additionally, their electrochemical characters, electrocatalytic behaviors and solid state fluorescent properties at room temperature have been investigated in detail.

The 3-D framework of 1 is constructed from Co[P4Mo6](2) dimers bonded together with [Co(bpy)](n) coordination polymer chains. In compound 2, the Co[P4Mo6](2) dimers are linked by both [Co(bpy)] complex chains and the cobalt dimers to form a 3-D framework. Compounds 1 and 2 represent the first examples of reduced molybdenum(V) phosphates decorated with transition metal complexes chains. The 3-D framework of 3 is constructed from Zn[P4Mo6](2) dimers bonded together with [Zn(bpy)] coordination complexes and [Zn(bpy)(H2O)(2)] complexes. In compound 4, the Cd[P4Mo6](2) dimers are coordinated with [Cd(bpy)(H2O)] and [Cd(bpy)(H2O)(2)] complexes to construct a 3-D structure. To our best knowledge, it is the first time that linear ligand 4,4'-bpy molecules have been grafted into the backbone of reduced molybdenum phosphates. Abstract:Three inorganic materials based on Strandberg polyoxoanion, Na-10[Ag(P2Mo5O23)](2)center dot 8H(2)O (1), Na-8[{Cu(H2O)(4)}(HP2Mo5O23)(2)]center dot 8H(2)O (2), and Na-8[{Co(H2O)(4)}(HP2Mo5O23)(2)]center dot 6H(2)O (3), were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TG, and single crystal X- ray diffraction analyses. The compounds are based on the [P2Mo5O23](6-) cluster and transition metal linkers. Compound 1 is a 1-D wave-like chain connected by Ag+ bridges. Compounds 2 and 3 are isostructural dimers bonded by {Cu(H2O)(4)} or {Co(H2O)(4)} linkers. The 1-D chain and dimeric clusters of 1-3 are further extended to 3-D supramolecular networks via hydrogen bonds and supramolecular interactions. Channels with different sizes are observed in 1-3, in which isolated Na thorn and lattice water molecule fill the channels via intermolecular interactions. Weak interactions play important roles in stabilizing the three 3-D networks. Electrochemical and electrocatalytic properties of 1-3 have been investigated. [GRAPHICS]

Abstract:Three novel low-dimensional organic/inorganic hybrid materials, assembled hydrothermally, are constructed from diphosphopentamolybdate(VI) clusters linked through {Cu(en)}(2+) groups; the initial Mo/Cu and Mo/en ratios and the use of F- ions control the connectivity between the phosphomolybdate clusters and {Cu(en)}(2+) groups, and hence the dimensionality of the solid architectures.

Abstract:Three new supramolecular compounds based on triethylenediamine and different polyoxometalates [WVI3VV3O19H]{[Cu(HDABCO)]2(H2O)} (1), [P2MoVI18O62][HDABCO]2[H2DABCO]2·12H2O (2) and [MoVI7.5WVI0.5O27][Cu(HDABCO)]2·2H3O·2H2O (3) (DABCO=triethylenediamine) have been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by IR, TG, XPS and X-ray diffraction analyses. Crystal structure analyses reveal that compound 1 exhibits a face-centered cubic packing motif, compound 2 displays a supramolecular structure constructed form the “chains” arranged hexagonally, compound 3 contains [Mo7.5W0.5O27]∞ chain decorated by [Cu(HDABCO)]2+ cations, which was then packed into a layer structure. These results show that the same organonitrogen combining with the different POMs will yield different supramolecular networks.

Abstract:The hydrothermal syntheses, crystal structures and thermal behaviours of three new 3-D framework molybdenum(VI) oxide hybrid materials, [MoO3(pyz)(0.5)] 1 (pyz = pyrazine), [{Cu(pip)(0.5))MoO4] (pip = piperazine) 2 and [H2Mo2Cu3O10] 3, are presented. 1 and 2 that are hybrids of inorganic oxide layers and bridging organodiamine ligands exhibit a covalent/coordinalion framework connectivity: 3 represents a novel open framework example of bimetallic oxides based on Mo-VI and Cu-II. These new materials are synthesized by a judicious selection of organodiamines accompanied by the concurrent alteration of initial reaction conditions. The choice of organodiamines is found to be critical to the framework composition and construction of solid architectures. The chiral framework of 1 and the 3-D structure of 2 are characterised by one-dimensional channels along the orthorhombic and triclinic b axis respectively circumscribed by six {MoO5N} octahedra and two pyz molecules in 1, and by two {MoO4} tetrahedra, four {CuO4N} square pyramids and two pip molecules in 2. The 3-D open framework of 3 has six-ring channels along the triclinic b axis. The thermal behaviours of the three solids are similar, undergoing a phase transition in the range 260-420 degrees C upon the removal of organic ligands in 1 and 2 and dehydration in 3.

Abstract:Two low-dimensional molybdenum(VI) oxide/organic hybrid materials crystallize hydrothermally from acidic reaction mixtures containing 2,2′-dipyridylamine. The hydrothermal reactions of MoO3, 2,2′-dipyridylamine and H2O in the molar ratio of 1:0.5:600 at 160°C for 96 h afford a one-dimensional solid (C10H10N3)2[Mo6O19] (1) at pH≅2 and a two-dimensional solid (C10H10N3)2[Mo8O25] (2) at pH<1. The structure of 1 consists of puckered [Mo12O38]4− chains of corner- and edge-sharing {MoO6} octahedra and {MoO5} square pyramids, and interstrand 2,2′-dipyridylammonium ions. The crystal structure of 2 is constructed from [Mo8O25]2− layers separated by interlamellar 2,2′-dipyridylammonium ions. The successful assembly of low-dimensional network structures of 1 and 2 demonstrates the dramatic influence of reaction acidity on the organization of molecular building blocks and construction of solid architectures. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 are stabilized by electrostatic forces and Hydrogen bonds between counterions, and π–π interactions among 2,2′-dipyridylammonium ions.
High-Dimensional Extended-Frameworks Based on Reduced Molybdenum Phosphates[P_4Mo~V_60_(28)(OH)_3]~(9-)

Abstract:Cd(OAc)_2·2H_2O and MnCl_2·4H_2O were separately introduced to the mixture of MoO_3,H_3PO_4 and bpy. Two new reduced molybdenum phosphate[P_4Mo_6O_(28)(OH)_3]~(9-)({P_4Mo_6}) extended inorganic-organic hybrid supramol-ecular networks(H_2bpy)_2[Cd(H_2O)]_3[Cd(HPO_4)_6(PO_4)_2(OH)_6(MoO_2)_(12)]·5H_2O(1) and(H_2bpy)_3[Mn(H_2O)_2]_2[Mn(HPO_4)_6 (PO_4)_2(OH)_6(MoO_2)_(12)]·10H_2O(2) have been synthesized under hydrothermal techniques.Here,compounds 1 and 2 have been characterized by elementary analyses,IR,TG,and single crystal X-ray diffraction.Compound 1 crystallized in the triclinic,space group P1,a=1.1877(2) nm,b=1.348 5(3) nm,c=1.4108(3) nm,α=106.87(3)°,β=108.09(3)°,γ= 107.92(3)°,V = 1.848 3(6) nm~3,Z = 1;Compound 2 crystallized in the triclinic,space group P1,a = 1.1968(2) nm,b = 1.335 4(3) nm,c = 1.462 0(3) nm,α= 77.58(3)°,β= 67.97(3)°,γ= 76.12(3)°,V = 2.0822(7) nm~3,Z = 1.The polyanion of compound 1[Cd(H_2O)]_3[Cd(HPO_4)_6(PO_4)_2(OH)_6(MoO_2)_(12)]~(2-) is composed of Cd[P_4Mo_6]_2 dimer and tri-nuclear {Cd_3} linkers,which are connected together to form inorganic chains.The polyanion [Mn(H_2O)_2]_2[Mn(HPO_4)_6(PO_4)_2(OH)_6(MoO_2)_(12)]~(3-) of compound 2 exhibits a 2D inorganic layer,consisting of Mn[P_4Mo_6]_2 units linked by the Mn~(2+) ions.These two kinds of inorganic extended structures are further linked with Hydrogen bonds of protonated bpy to construct different 3D supramolecular networks.Simultaneously,the electrochemical property of compound 2 has been explored.

Abstract:Two novel organic-inorganic hybrid supramolecular compounds based on organoammonium cations (OACs) and polyoxomolybdates (POMs), namely, [BDMLPX](3)[Mo8O26](2)[H3O](2)H2O (1) [BDMLPX = di(1,2-dimethylimidazolium) p-xylene dichloride and [BIIT][HBIIT][ClMo12O40] (2) [BIIT = 1,3-bis(imidazole-3-iumyl)-2,4,6-trimethyl benzene], have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis. Compound 1 contains the -[Mo8O26](4-)cluster and 2 has the classical Keggin-type discrete [ClMo12O40](-) anion.

Abstract:Polyoxometalate (POM)-based inorganic-organic molecular hybrid clusters have been recently recognized as good candidates to design novel multi-functional materials. Tremendous efforts have been invested in synthesizing many interesting hybrid structures with exceptional chemical and physical properties. Grafting organic ligands to the POM clusters render these functional clusters amphiphilic properties. Here we summarize the current progresses and provide some perspectives, from colloidal chemists' point of view, on the self-assembly of the amphiphilic POM-organic hybrids in solution and at interfaces, as well as the related consequent novel features such as enhanced fluorescent properties.

Abstract:Three new organic–inorganic hybrid compounds based on copper-bis(triazole) complexes and Keggin-type polyoxometalates (POMs) with different negative charges, [Cu(I)BBTZ]3[PMo12O40] (1), [Cu(I)BBTZ][Cu(I)(HBBTZ)2][SiMo12O40]·2.5H2O (2) and [Cu(I)BBTZ]6[SiWV2WVI10O40]·2H2O (3) (BBTZ = 1,4-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene), have been hydrothermally prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, TG analyses, XPS spectra, powder X-ray diffraction and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibit the POM-templated 3D host–guest supramolecular frameworks. Compound 3 displays a POM-supported 3D open framework. In these three hybrid compounds, the structural transformation from host–guest framework to open framework were modulated by the introduction of Keggin-type polyoxoanions with different negative charges. Moreover, the electrochemical properties of compounds 1–3 were investigated and all these compounds show the electrocatalytic activities towards the reduction of nitrite.

Abstract:Four novel organic-inorganic hybrid materials of the copper(II)-molybdophosphonate family, [Cu(1,10-phen)Mo2O5(H2O)(hedp)] (1), [{Cu(1,10-phen)}{Cu(1,10-phen)(H2O)}MoO2(hedpH)(2)]center dot H2O (2), [(Cu(1,10-phen)Mo0.05O(hedpH)] (3), and [{Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)}MoO2(hedp)]center dot 2H(2)O (4) (hedpH(4) = 1-hydroxyethylidenediphosphonate, 2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, 1,10-phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. In compound 1, the interconnection of {MoO6}, {CuN2O2}, and {CPO3} polyhedra leads to a 2D layer through edge-sharing and corner-sharing, and such layers are further assembled into a 3D supramolecular structure by pi-pi stacking interactions. Compound 2 contains a ID chain built up from {MoO6}, {CuN2O3}, and {CPO3} polyhedra, and then these 1D chains are further extended into 2D supramolecular layer by hydrogen bonding interactions. Such neighboring layers are further assembled into a 3D supramolecular structure via the pi-pi stacking interactions. For compound 3, the [{Cu(1,10-phen)}(2)MoO2(hedpH)(2)] units are interlinked by hydrogen bonds interactions to give a hydrogen bonded double chains. The neighboring chains are further assembled through pi-pi stacking interactions to form a 3D supramolecular structure. In compound 4, the interconnection of {MoO6}, {CuN2O3} and {CPO3} polyhedra via corner-sharing forms a ID chain. These 1D chains are interlinked through hydrogen bonding interactions to form a 2D supramolecular layer, which are further assembled into a 3D supramolecular structure via the pi-pi stacking interactions. Surface photovoltage properties of the four compounds have also been studied.

Abstract:A series of remote hydroxyl functionalized organoimido derivatives of hexamolybdate, (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O18(Cres)] (1) (Cres = 4-amino-m-cresol), (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O17(Cres)(2)]center dot H2O (2), (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O18(Phen)]center dot i-PrOH (Phen = p-aminophenol)(3), (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O18(Phen)]center dot EtOH (4), (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O17(Phen)(2)] (5), (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O18(Naph)] (Naph = 5-amino-1-napheynyl) (6), and (Bu4N)(2)[Mo6O18(Chex)]center dot 1.5H(2)O (Chex = trans-4-aminocyclohexanol) (7) were synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectra, UV-vis spectra, elemental analysis, H-1 NMR, and cyclic voltammetry. X-ray structural study reveals that intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bonding plays an important role in their supramolecular assembly; it is found that (i) bridged oxo ligands of hexamolybdate cluster are more inclined to form hydrogen bonds as acceptors than terminal oxo ligands in this system; (ii) small solvent molecules with hydrogen bonding donor and acceptor, such as water, i-PrOH, and EtOH, usually act as hydrogen bonding bridge in their supramolecular assembly; (iii) hydrogen bonding has an important influence on their anion conformation besides cell packing; (iv) the hydrogen bonding supramolecular assembly of compounds 1-7 demonstrate an interesting change from dimer (3), to 1 D infinite single chain (4), to 1 D infinite double chain (2), and to 2D network (1, 5, 6, and 7) owing to the alteration of the grafting organic ligand, the substituted number, and the crystallized solvent molecule. To explore their potential application in conductivity, the optical band gap of compounds 1-7 Are determined upon their solid state reflectance spectra. Our current study not only surveys systematically hydrogen bonding interaction and supramolecular assembly of remote hydroxyl functionalized organoimido-derivatized hexamolybdates but also provides some available precursors for further modification including esterification.

Abstract:Two novel organic–inorganic hybrid supramolecular compounds based on organoammonium cations (OACs) and polyoxomolybdates (POMs), namely, [BDMLPX]3[Mo8O26]2[H3O]2·H2O (1) [BDMLPX = di(1,2-dimethylimidazolium) p-xylene dichloride and [BIIT][HBIIT][ClMo12O40] (2) [BIIT = 1,3-bis(imidazole-3-iumyl)-2,4,6-trimethyl benzene], have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis. Compound 1 contains the β-[Mo8O26]4−cluster and 2 has the classical Keggin-type discrete [ClMo12O40]− anion.
