Abstract:Novel organocatalysts combining carbohydrate and N-formyl-l-valine derivatives were prepared by CuII-catalyzed diazo transfer and CuI-catalyzed azide–alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition CuAAC click chemistry. It was found that the carbohydrate-based valine-derived formamide organocatalyst had high catalytic activity for the asymmetric reduction of imines with trichlorosilane. The reduction can proceed at room temperature in toluene in high yield (up to 98%) and with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 94%). ‘CuAAC’ click chemistry is a bridge to link N-formyl-l-valine derived organocatalysts with carbohydrates.

Abstract:Magnetic nano-Fe3O4-supported organocatalysts were synthesized by anchoring valine-derived formamide onto the surface of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles, which were applied in the asymmetric reduction of imines with trichlorosilane at room temperature in toluene. The high level of yield and enantioselectivity catalyzed by magnetic nano-Fe3O4-supported organocatalysts was obtained. In the immobilization process, CuI-catalyzed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (CuAAC) “click chemistry” was used as the anchored bridge. The magnetic nanoparticles can simplify the recovery of the organocatalyst and its separation from the reaction system. By an external magnet, the catalyst can be recycled and reused five times without a remarkable activity decline.

Abstract:The backbone of D-glucosamine hydrochloride was fine-tuned and modified by protecting the hydroxyl groups. In order to reduce imines with trichlorosilane, the carbohydrate-derived organocatalysts were prepared and screened. Methyl-4,6-O-benzylidene-2-amino-2-deoxy-α-D-glucopyr anoside was found as the best catalyst. The reduction was proceeded under CHCl3 as solvent at 40?C, affording 68% - 94% yield.

Abstract:Recently, the asymmetric reduction of imines catalyzed by Lewis-basic organocatalyst has been received much attention as the cheap hydrogen source and the simple post treatment. Based on the different functional groups of organocatalysts, this paper introduced formamide, pyridine amide, sulfonamide, supported and other Lewis basic organocatalysts. The structural characteristics, catalytic activity and mechanism of the Lewis-basic organocatalysts were summarized.

Abstract:An efficient approach for the synthesis of 2-trifluoromethyl-benzimidazoles via cascade annulation of tri-fluoroacetimidoyl chlorides and amines using a heterogeneous copper doped g-C3N4 catalyst has been developed. Compared with the previously reported homogeneous catalytic system, the reaction exhibits higher efficiency and the copper doped g-C3N4 catalyst can be readily recycled for three times with slightly decreased catalytic reactivity.

Abstract:The azide-alkyne click polymerization (AACP) has emerged as a powerful tool for the synthesis of functional polytriazoles. While, for the Cu(I)-catalyzed AACP, the removal of the catalytic Cu(I) species from the resulting polytriazoles is difficult, and the research on the recyclability and reusability of the catalyst remains intact. Herein, we reported the first example of using recyclable and reusable supported Cu(I) catalyst of CuI@A-21 for the AACP. CuI@A-21 could not only efficiently catalyze the AACP but also be reused for at least 4 cycles. Moreover, pronounced reduction of copper residues in the products was achieved. Apart from being a green and cost-effective polymer synthesis strategy, this method will also broaden the application of AACP in material and biological sciences and provide guidelines for other polymerizations with metal catalysts.

Abstract:The amide bond stands as a crucial functional group in chemistry and biology, integral to various processes aiding the creation of essential pharmaceutical and industrial compounds. Developing efficient transformations through metal-free, environmentally friendly, and sustainable methods for breaking N-C bonds in amides poses a noteworthy synthetic challenge. Herein, we present a green method to activate the N-C amide bond in N-acyl saccharin, employing ammonium thiocyanate in sustainable 2-MeTHF as the solvent medium. This approach facilitates the efficient and divergent synthesis of N-carbamothioylbenzamides and O-alkyl thiocarbamides. Additionally, it features a bench-stable and recyclable core of reagents, a low E-factor, simple and mild conditions, excellent functional group tolerance, and a broad substrate scope. Moreover, we accomplished the synthesis of N-carbamothioylbenzamides through a continuous-flow method in a short reaction time (17 min), highlighting that our novel approach is versatile for synthetic and industrial use and applicable in both batch and flow conditions. This method demonstrates the practicality of gram-scale reactions and showcases its efficacy in synthesizing valuable heterocyclic compounds like thiazoles and triazole through successful synthetic transformations.

Abstract:Herein we report the first catalytic decarbonylation and decarbonylative hydroamination of formamides without using additives enabled by a redox-neutral rare earth catalyst. Abstract:A simple and efficient protocol for the formylation of amines with formic acid, catalyzed by a polyoxometalate-based chromium catalyst, is described. Notably, this method shows excellent activity and chemoselectivity for the formylation of primary amines; diamines have also been successfully employed. Importantly, the chromium catalyst is potentially non-toxic, environmentally benign and safer than the widely used high valence chromium catalysts such as CrO3 and K2Cr2O7. The catalyst can be recycled several times with a negligible impact on activity. Finally, a plausible mechanism is provided based on the observation of intermediate and control experiments.

Abstract:Incorporation of metal catalysis and organocatalysis has emerged as a promising way for developing new and valuable organic reactions. This catalytic strategy would potentially enable unprecedented transformations not possible by the existing metal catalysis or organocatalysis alone. Herein, we report an imine-linked chiral covalent organic framework (CCOF) achieved by the combination of a Au-<i>N</i>-heterocyclic-carbene (NHC-Au) monomer with its chiral secondary amine-containing counterpart via an updated direct synthetic approach. The obtained CCOF can be used as a reusable dual catalyst to highly promote the asymmetric aryl methanol oxidation-aldol relay reaction in a heterogeneous way. In addition, the CCOF-based shaped setup was also realized via a facile templating freeze-drying approach based on an eco-friendly chitosan material, by which the gram-scale asymmetric aerobic alcohol oxidation-aldol relay reaction was successfully achieved. The potential utility of this approach is highlighted by the preparation of many more new CCOF-based multifunctional heterogeneous catalysts to promote various asymmetric organic transformations in a facile and green way, and further progress might eventually allow CCOF catalysts to be developed for industrial processes.

Abstract:In this article, we proved that all three key steps in the catalytic cycle of CuAAC can proceed in the presence of carboxylic acids and the latter two steps can be promoted significantly by carboxylic acids. Benzoic acid showed the best promotion activity, and the acids with strong chelating ability to Cu(I) ion could not serve for this purpose. Thus, the first carboxylic acid-promoted highly efficient CuAAC was established.

Abstract:A novel and atom-economical synthesis of fully substituted 4-aminoimidazoles via gold-catalyzed selective [3 + 2] annulation of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles with ynamides is reported. This protocol represents a new strategy to access α-imino gold carbenes, which corresponds to an unprecedented intermolecular transfer of N-acylimino nitrenes to ynamides. Moreover, the reaction proceeds with 100% atom economy, exhibits good functional group tolerance, and can be conducted in gram scale.
