Abstract:Difunctionalization of alkenes represent a convenient way to complex molecular structure. Herein, visible light-induced intramolecular carbodi(tri)fluoromethylthiolation of alkenes was reported. CC and C-S were formed in the procedure. Various fluoroalkylthiol substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans (DHB) was prepared. Aryldiazonium salts derived from o-allyloxy anilines were used as precursors of aryl radicals. The following cyclization occurred, and the resulting alkyl radicals were trapped by shelf-stable reagent PhSO2SRf (Rf= SCF2H, SCF3). The direct difluoromethylthiolation on arenes was not observed. A variety of atoms and functional groups were tolerated.

Abstract:A novel visible light promoted carbodifluoroalkylation of allylic alcohols is disclosed. A series of difluoro 1,5-dicarbonyl compounds were obtained through a tandem radical addition and 1,2-aryl migration process. Mechanistic analysis indicated that the 1,2-aryl rearrangement proceeded via a radical intermediate.

Abstract:A visible‐light induced radical 1,2‐aryl migration of α,α‐diarylallyl alcohols was developed under mild and metal‐free conditions. Commercially available CHCl3 and CH2Cl2 were used as tri‐ and dichloromethyl radical precursors. Structurally diverse β‐polochloromethylated ketones were obtained in good to moderate yields via neophyl‐type rearrangement. Besides, the polychloromethyl group can be easily transformed into other useful functional groups.

Abstract:An efficient protocol was developed to achieve the aryltrifluoroalkylation of hydroxy alkenes via radical trifluoromethylation-triggered aryl migration. This method possesses several interesting features: (I) visible light is used as the sole promoter; (II) a new version of Umemoto's reagent [2,8-difluoro-S-(trifluoromethyl)dibenzothiophenium triflate], which is stable, cheap and recyclable, serves as the CF3 source; (III) the aryl migration is chemoselective; (IV) structurally diverse trifluoromethyl ketones can be produced.

Abstract:A new photoinduced acylation/arylation of N‐(arylsulfonyl)acrylamide with acyl oxime esters through a nitrogen‐centered radical protocol has been disclosed for efficient preparation of functionalized indolin‐2‐ones, which proceeds through a cascade acyl radical addition of carbon‐carbon double bond, aryl migration, desulfonylation, and intramolecular cyclization sequence. This redox‐neutral strategy features excellent selectivity, good substituent tolerance, and wide substrate scope.

Abstract:A visible-light-induced glycoarylation of activated olefins has been accomplished. Glycosyl radicals are generated via radical transfer strategies between (TMS)(3)SiOH and glycosyl bromides. Subsequent radical translocation and rapid 1,4-aryl migration form β-sugar amide derivatives, and eight types of sugars are compatible with this reaction. Further, the cascade reaction produced a quaternary carbon center with good functional group adaptability and high regioselectivity in mild conditions.

Abstract:Here we describe a straightforward and efficient approach for regiospecific introduction of an allyl group into cycloalkanol molecules employing a visible-light-mediated ring-opening strategy. A wide range of distally allylated or formylated ketones is furnished from 1-aryl cycloalkanol precursors of variable ring sizes, providing a concise and practical access for the modification of complex natural products. Preliminary mechanistic studies demonstrate that the key O-centered radicals mediate the sequential ring cleavage and allylation/formylation.

Abstract:Functional group translocation is undoubtedly a pivotal synthetic transformation in organic chemistry. Numerous types of reactions involving radical 1,2-aryl or 1,4-aryl migration via electron transfer mechanism have been extensively investigated. Nevertheless, energy-transfer enabled 1,4-arylation remains unknown. Herein we disclose that an unprecedented di-π-ethane rearrangement featuring 1,4-aryl migration facilitated by energy transfer catalysis under visible light conditions. The newly developed mild protocol exhibits tolerance towards diverse functional groups and enables the migration of a multitude of aromatic rings, encompassing both electron-withdrawing and electron-rich functional groups. The open-shell strategy has also found successful application in the modification of several drugs. Large-scale experiments, continuous-flow experiment, and versatile manipulation of products have demonstrated the robustness and potential utility of this synthetic method. Preliminary mechanistic studies have supported the involvement of radical species in this di-π-ethane rearrangement and have also provided evidence for the energy transfer mechanism.

Abstract:An enamine-mediated photoredox catalyzed C(sp2)-C(sp3) cross-coupling of dual radical precursors for the arylation of ketone is presented in this Letter. These reactions led to the formation of an enamine by using pyrrolidine to functionalize the C(sp3)-H bond in ketone substrates, which could be smoothly converted to α-arylated ketones with inert aryl bromides and even aryl chlorides in moderate to good yields under mild reaction conditions. The photocatalytically induced C(sp2)-C(sp3) cross-coupling between unactivated noncyclic ketones and aryl halides was achieved, and multiple carbonyl α-arylated backbones containing various natural products and drug molecules were successfully constructed.
