Abstract:A co-catalyst of (PPh3)AuCl/AgOTf for the intermolecular hydroamination of allenes with sulfonamides is shown. The reaction proceeded smoothly under mild conditions for differently substituted allenes giving N-allylic sulfonamides in good yields with high regioselectivity and E-selectivity.

Abstract:Axially enantioselective binuclear gold(I) catalysts fly as swallowtail butterflies around a mechanical hand providing a chiral environment. The gold microchip on the hand symbolizes the crucial role of gold catalysis in alkyne activation. Using the gold-catalyzed condensation of amine and diyne-ene, the first example of enantioselective 1,2-dihydropyridine synthesis through a formal [3+2+1] fashion is reported by Xin Hong, Xiaodong Shi et al. in their Research Article (e202305409).

Abstract:Carbophilic gold carbenes generated from the decomposition of alpha-diazoesters show high reactivity towards enamides, leading to an unprecedented aza-ene-type reaction. The presence of 0.1 mol% of a chiral Bronsted acid co-catalyst is sufficient to give synthetically relevant gamma-keto esters in excellent yields and selectivities (up to 99% yield, 97% ee).

Abstract:A gold(I)-catalyzed intermolecular annulation of N-allenamides at the proximal CC bond has been achieved. In their Communication on page 14849 ff., J. Zhang et al. show that both enantiomers of the products are obtained with high regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselectivity by using either diastereomer of a chiral phosphoramidite as ligand. In the picture, the enantiomers of the products are easily controlled by the magician’s hands with the aid of the gold rings on the fingers.

Abstract:Anti-Bredt di(amino)carbene supported gold(I) chloride complexes are readily prepared in two steps from the corresponding isocyanide complexes. In the presence of KB(C6F5)4 as chloride scavenger, they promote the unprecedented hydroarylation reaction of alkenes with N,N-dialkylanilines with high para-selectivity. The latter are challenging arenes for Friedel-Craft reactions, due to their high basicity.

Abstract:AbstractHighly enantioselective gold‐catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of N‐allenamides was implemented by utilizing a designed chiral sulfinamide phosphine ligand (PC‐Phos). This represents the first example of highly enantioselective intramolecular cyclization of N‐allenamides. The practicality of this reaction was validated in the total synthesis of (R)‐desbromoarborescidine A and formal synthesis of (R)‐desbromoarborescidine C and (R)‐deplancheine. Moreover, the catalyst system PC‐Phos/AuNTf2 proved to be specifically efficient to promote the desymmetrization of N‐allenamides in excellent yields with satisfactory ee values.
