Abstract:The detection and sensing of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) by electrochemical nanocomposite-based sensors hold significant advantages over other common sensing materials due to their unique surface modification properties. Here, a nanocomposite is fabricated based on silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) using a green synthesis method from the extract of peppermint as a stabilizing and reducing agent. A pronounced surface plasmonic resonance (SPR) effect is observed in UV-visible spectrum of Ag NPs/rGO nanocomposite, indicating the plasmonic effect of Ag NPs around a wavelength of approximately 400 nm. This spectral signature serves as compelling evidence of the successful integration of Ag NPs into the rGO matrix, highlighting their robust anchoring within the intricate graphene structure. The resulting nanocomposite is then utilized to prepare a disposable electrochemical sensor on the basis of a glassy carbon electrode, contributing the specific features of both Ag NPs and graphene as well as the inherent high specific area and fast electron transfer of the nanohybrid structure. These features lead to an improvement in electrocatalytic efficiency of the nanocomposite compared to that of separate Ag NPs and rGO. The kinetic parameters and oxidation mechanism involved in the nanocomposite are investigated, achieving optimum reaction conditions. Accordingly, the non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor is capable of detecting H 2 O 2 concentrations over the range of 20 to 1250 μM. The detection limit is found to be 13.55 μM at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 along with a response time of 2 s. Alternatively, Ag NPs/rGO nanocomposite with SPR effect is tested against different bacterial species, and the results show its effective antibacterial performance.

Abstract:In this study, a non-enzymatic hydrogen peroxide sensor was successfully fabricated on the basis of copper sulfide nanoparticles/reduced graphene oxide (CuS/RGO) electrocatalyst. Using thiourea as reducing agent and sulfur donor, CuS/RGO hybrid was synthesized through a facile one-pot hydrothermal method, where the reduction of GO and deposition of CuS nanoparticles on RGO occur simultaneously. The results confirmed that the CuS/RGO hybrid helps to prevent the aggregation of CuS nanoparticles. Electrochemical investigation showed that the as-prepared hydrogen peroxide sensor exhibited a low detection limit of 0.18μmol/L (S/N=3), a good reproducibility (relative standard deviation (RSD) of 4.21%), a wide linear range (from 3 to 1215μmol/L) with a sensitivity of 216.9μAL/mmol/cm2 under the optimal conditions. Moreover, the as-prepared sensor also showed excellent selectivity and stability for hydrogen peroxide detection. The excellent performance of CuS/RGO hybrid, especially the lower detection limit than certain enzymes and noble metal nanomaterials ever reported, makes it a promising candidate for non-enzymatic H2O2 sensors.

Abstract:A nonenzymatic hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) sensor was fabricated using the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and ferroferric oxide (Fe(3)O(4)) nanocomposites as the sensing material. The nanocomposites were synthesized by coprecipitation method and characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Results showed that the RGO sheet was evenly decorated by the well-crystallized Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles. The nanocomposites showed enhanced catalytic ability to the reduction of hydrogen peroxide compared with the RGO, Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles alone and the mixture materials. The sensor has a quite wide linear range from 0.1mM to 6mM (R(2)=0.990) with less than 5s response time. Moreover, its detection limit is 3.2 μM (S/N=3). The anti-interference ability, long-term stability and potential application in real samples of the sensor is also assessed. This work expands the application of the graphene-based nanomaterials in the sensor areas.

Abstract:A method is described for the preparation of a nanocomposite material consisting of cuprous oxide/polyaniline/reduced graphene oxide (Cu2O/PANI/rGO). Aniline was employed as both the precursor for PANI and the reducing agent for Cu2+ and graphene oxide. A glassy carbon electrode was modified with the nanocomposite material. Chronoamperometric studies with the modified electrode showed it to enable an efficient electroreduction of hydrogen peroxide at −0.2 V vs. saturated calomel electrode. All measurements were performed in the absence of oxygen. Abstract:A nanohybrid composed of Ag@Cu2O heterogeneous nanocrystals supported on N-doped reduced graphene oxide (Ag@Cu2O/N-RGO) has been synthesized by a simple wet-chemical method. The resultant composite consists of N-RGO sheets fully and homogeneously coated with a dense layer of Ag@Cu2O nanocrystals. Both Ag and N-RGO are in direct contact with Cu2O, and Ag nanoparticles with sizes of 2-5 nm are mainly deposited on the surface of Cu2O cubes (edge length of 500 nm). The electrochemical studies reveal that the ternary Ag@Cu2O/N-RGO composite exhibit significantly enhanced electrocatalytic activity for H2O2 sensing compared with either the single component (N-RGO) or two component systems (Cu2O/N-RGO and Ag/N-RGO), which is mainly due to the synergetic catalysis of the ternary system. The nonenzymatic sensor based on Ag@Cu2O/N-RGO composite shows overwhelmingly superior comprehensive performance for the H2O2 detection over the documented Ag-based sensors. More specifically, it displays a rapid response (10 s) to H2O2 over a wide linear range of 54-700 nM with a high sensitivity of 1298.3 mu A mM(-1) cm(-2) and a low detection limit of 10 nM. Moreover, the sensor also exhibits the preferable selectivity in the presence of biologically coactive compounds accompanied with long-term stability and good reproducibility. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:A novel hybrid of Cu nanoparticles/three-dimensional graphene/Ni foam (Cu NPs/3DGr/NiF) was prepared by chemical vapor deposition, followed by a galvanic displacement reaction in Ni- and Cu-ion-containing salt solution through a one-step reaction. The as-prepared Cu NPs/3DGr/NiF hybrid is uniform, stable, recyclable and exhibits an extraordinarily high catalytic efficiency for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) with a reduction rate constant K = 0.056 15 s-1, required time ∼30 s and excellent sensing properties for the non-enzymatic amperometric hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with a linear range ∼50 μM-9.65 mM, response time ∼3 s, detection limit ∼1 μM. The results indicate that the as-prepared Cu NPs/3DGr/NiF hybrid can be used to replace expensive noble metals in catalysis and sensing applications.

Abstract:In this work, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposites were electrodeposited on glassy carbon electrodes (GCE) to construct electrochemical sensors for the detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and dopamine (DA). The AgNPs were synthesized on graphene oxide (GO) by the hydrothermal method, followed by the reduction of the GO during the electrodeposition process, resulting in the formation of the nanocomposites on the surface of the electrodes. The generation of AgNPs on the graphene sheets was verified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The AgNPs/rGO/GCE showed a linear response to H2O2 in the range of 5 μM to 620 μM, with a sensitivity of 49 μA mM−1cm−2 and a limit of detection (LOD) of 3.19 μA. The linear response of the AgNPs/rGO/GCE to DA ranged from 1 μM to 276 μM, the sensitivity was 7.86 μA mM−1cm−2, and the LOD was 0.18 μM. Furthermore, DA and H2O2 were detected simultaneously in the same solution without interferences, and the sensors displayed good stability over time. The preparation method for the sensors is relatively eco-friendly, convenient, and efficient, exhibiting great potential for sensitive detection of DA and H2O2.

Abstract:We demonstrate controllable fabrication of Ag nanoparticle (NP)-decorated reduced graphene oxide (RGO/Ag) hybrids and their application for fast and selective detection of ammonia at room temperature. Ag NPs greatly improved the sensitivity of RGO. The response time (6 s) and recovery time (10 s) are comparable with our previous Ag NP-decorated multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT/Ag) NH3 sensors; however, the sensitivity is about twice that of MWCNT/Ag hybrids. We found that the loading density of NPs greatly affects the sensing performance of RGO/Ag hybrids and a proper NP loading leads to maximum sensitivity.

Abstract:Cuprous oxide/silver (Cu2O/Ag) nanocomposites were prepared via a facile one-step method and used to construct an electrochemical sensor for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection. In this method, AgNO3 and Cu(NO3)2 were reduced to Cu2O/Ag nanocomposites by glucose in the presence of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) at a low temperature. The optimum condition was the molar ratio of silver nitrate and copper nitrate of 1:10, the temperature of 50 °C. Under this condition, Cu2O/Ag nanocomposites were obtained with uniformly distributed and tightly combined Cu2O and Ag nanoparticles. The size of Cu2O particles was less than 100 nm and that of Ag particles was less than 20 nm. Electrochemical experiments indicate that the Cu2O/Ag nanocomposites-based sensor possesses an excellent performance toward H2O2, showing a linear range of 0.2 to 4000 μM, a high sensitivity of 87.0 μA mM−1 cm−2, and a low detection limit of 0.2 μM. The anti-interference capability experiments indicate this sensor has good selectivity toward H2O2. Additionally, the H2O2 recovery tests of the sensor in diluted milk solution signify its potential application in routine H2O2 analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, we have synthesized the cupric oxide functionalized carbon nanotube-reduced graphene oxide (CuO/CNTs-rGO) nanocomposites by a facile one-pot method. The obtained samples were characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) techniques. To investigate the electrochemical properties, the as-fabricated sensors were tested toward hydrazine detection by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometry methods. The measured results demonstrate that the CuO/CNTs-rGO nanocomposites sensor shows a sensitivity of 4.28 μA·μM−1·cm−2, a linear range of 1.2–430 μM, and detection limit of 0.2 μM toward hydrazine. The enhanced electrocatalytic activity can be attributed to the catalytic properties of CuO and synergistic effect of the ternary nanocomposites. Meanwhile, the as-fabricated CuO/CNTs-rGO sensor also displays good selectivity and long-term stability, which implies its feasibility for practical application.

Abstract:Fe2O3 nanorods, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and reduced graphene nanosheets (rGO) have been assembled to form Fe2O3-MWCNTs/rGO hybrid nanostructures for high sensitivity detection of hydrazine. Hydrolysis reaction and annealing were firstly used to grow Fe2O3 nanorods on MWCNTs, resulting in high density Fe2O3 nanorods with a typical diameter of 300 nm and lengths in the range from 100 nm to 200 nm. The electrochemical properties of Fe2O3-MWCNTs/rGO nanostructures were then investigated and both cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometry showed that Fe2O3-MWCNTs/rGO hybrid nanostructures can be used for hydrazine detection, due to their high sensitivity (4.1 mu A.mu M-1.cm(-2)), short response time (3 s), low detection limit (0.048 mu M with a S/N = 3) and good linear detection range (0.3 mu M-350 mu M). Moreover, they also present high selectivity, long-term stability and reproducibility. These characteristics can be attributed to the superimposed catalytic effect and larger specific surface area of the Fe2O3-MWCNTs/rGO hybrid nanostructures, which make them promising for high-performance electrochemical sensing. Atomic-Thick PtNi Nanowires Assembled on Graphene for High-Sensitivity Extracellular Hydrogen Peroxide Sensors.

Abstract:H2O2 sensors with high sensitivity and selectivity are essential for monitoring the normal activities of cells. Inorganic catalytic nanomaterials show the obvious advantage in boosting the sensitivity of H2O2 sensors; however, the H2O2 detection limit of reported inorganic catalysts is still limited, which is not suitable for high-sensitivity detection of H2O2 in real cells. Herein, novel atomic-thick PtNi nanowires (NWs) were synthesized and assembled on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) via an ultrasonic self-assembly method to attain PtNi NWs/rGO composite for boosting the electroanalysis of H2O2. In 0.05 M phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4) solution, the as-prepared PtNi NWs/rGO shows an extraordinary performance in quantifying H2O2 in a wide range of concentrations from 1 nM to 5.3 mM. Significantly, the detection limit of PtNi NWs/rGO reaches unprecedented 0.3 nM at an applied potential of -0.6 V (vs Ag/AgCl), which enables the detection of traced amounts of H2O2 released from Raw 264.7 cells. The excellent performance of H2O2 detection on PtNi NWs/rGO is ascribed to the high-density active sites of atomic-thick PtNi NWs.
Ag Functionalized Molybdenum Disulfide Hybrid Nanostructures for Selective and Sensitive Amperometric Hydrogen Peroxide Detection

Abstract:Ag nanoparticles functionalized flower-like molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) hybrid nanostructures (AgNPs/MoS2) were successfully synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method. The structure and surface morphology were subsequently characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. The as-synthesized AgNPs/MoS2 hybrid nanostructures were modified on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and further utilized for amperometric hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection. The electrochemical behaviors and sensing performance of the AgNPs/MoS2/GCE were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and single-potential amperometry methods. The obtained results have demonstrated that the developed AgNPs/MoS2/GCE amperometric sensor possesses an excellent catalytic performance toward the reduction of H2O2. The as-prepared electrochemical sensor exhibits fast response time of less than 3 s, large linear detection range of 0.025-135.2 mM (R 2=0.998) and high sensitivity of 54.5 μA·mM−1·cm−2. Moreover, the developed H2O2 sensor has shown good anti- interference ability, outstanding stability and reproducibility, which represents a great potential for H2O2 detection in practical applications.

Abstract:By modifying the ZnO-SnO2 matrix nanocomposite material with reduced graphene oxide and doping with palladium nanoparticles, a hydrogen gas-sensitive material with p-n–n heterojunction is synthesized. At the same time, it has developed its sensing characteristics for ppm level hydrogen. ZnO nanosheets were synthesized using a simple hydrothermal method, and then ZnO-SnO2 composite materials were synthesized on the basis of ZnO, and finally 3 wt% rGO was modified and Pd nanoparticles were doped. The crystal structure and structure morphology of the material were characterized by SEM, TEM, and XRD, and the results showed that the ZnO-SnO2 nanocomposite was uniformly coated on the surface of rGO. The hydrogen sensing properties of the material were studied, and the results showed that the sensor's sensing response to 200 ppm hydrogen was about 14.9 at the optimal working temperature of 160 ℃, and the response time and recovery time were 100 s and 220 s, respectively. The sensor has high hydrogen response, specific response to hydrogen, and low operating temperature. Its excellent sensing performance is mainly attributed to the modification of rGO and the doping of Pd nanoparticles to enhance the effective transfer of electrons.

Abstract:Electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) is a versatile material for the electrode modification, which enables modification of the physicochemical properties of the surface by the reduction and reoxidation of oxygen groups. The oxygen functional groups and structural defects of ERGO deposited on a layer of metal nanoparticles facilitate the electron transport and enhance the electrocatalytic properties of the nanoparticles. ERGO layers show moderate-intrinsic electrocatalytic properties towards the electrochemical reduction of hydrogen peroxide. In this contribution, we present studies of ERGO layers on the top of the nanoparticle layer composed of gold nanoparticles stabilized with silicotungstate ligands (Au/SiW12), silver nanoparticles stabilized with silicotungstate ligands (Ag/SiW12), and silver nanoparticles stabilized with phosphomolybdate ions (Ag/PMo12). The nanoparticles are prepared by the reduction of the chloroauric acid or silver nitrate by the partially reduced forms of H4SiW12O40 or H3PMo12O40 acid. The films of nanoparticles are conditioned by the repetitive potential cycling at pH = 6 before the deposition of the graphene oxide (GO) layer. The GO layer is reduced by scanning the potential between − 0.4 and − 1.2 V vs. SCE. Combination of ERGO with Au/SiW12 or Ag/SiW12 nanoparticles results in synergistic enhancement of amperometric responses to hydrogen peroxide. The electrocatalytic current values observed for the NPs-ERGO layers are higher than the sum of the current for the pure NPs layers and the ERGO layer deposited on a glassy carbon electrode. The Ag/PMo12 nanoparticles show poor electrocatalytic currents due to possible formation of aggregate structures. Infrared and Raman spectroscopies are applied to investigate the electrocatalytic layers.

Abstract:In this paper, an ultrahigh sensitive hydrazine electrochemical sensor based on gold nanoparticles integrated into a reduced graphene oxide/nickel foam (AuNPs-rGO@NF) hybrid structure was synthesized using a facile coating and electrochemical deposition method. The morphology and elemental composition of the as-synthesized AuNPs-rGO@NF structure was comprehensively investigated. Both cyclic voltammetry and potential amperometry results show the optimum AuNPs-rGO@NF sensor exhibits excellent electrochemical performances including higher sensitivity (14.635 μA μM−1 cm−2), lower limit of detection (0.056 μM; S/N = 3), wider linear detection range (0.2–200 μM), good selectivity and long-term stability. Meanwhile, the results of real sample analysis indicate the AuNPs-rGO@NF sensor has great potential for practical electrochemical hydrazine sensing applications.

Abstract:In this study, a simple, cost-effective and eco-friendly method was performed for the production of silver nanoparticle decorated reduced graphene oxide (rGO-Ag) nanocomposite using Onosma bracteosa leaf extract as reducing and stabilizing agent. The structure of the synthesized rGO-Ag nanocomposite was characterized by UV–Vis, XRD, SEM, TEM, EDX, and XPS. The synthesized rGO-Ag nanocomposite was used to fabricate an electrochemical sensor (rGO-Ag@GCE) for the determination of hydrogen peroxide. Electrochemical reduction of hydrogen peroxide was performed using DPV on rGO-Ag@GCE in 0.1 M PBS. The rGO-Ag@GCE exhibited good response in the linear concentration range of 25 μM to 800 μM, with a LOD of 0.11 μM. Amperometric measurements showed that the prepared sensor did not have a significant response to interfering species. Moreover, analysis of real samples demonstrated the potential of rGO-Ag@GCE as an electrochemical sensor for detecting hydrogen peroxide in commercial milk samples.

Abstract:A sensitive nonenzymatic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) sensor was fabricated based on Pt/graphene (Pt/GN) nanocomposites. The nanocomposites were rapidly synthesized via a one-step microwave-assisted method, and characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results exhibited that Pt nanoparticles (NPs) were well-dispersed on the graphene surface with the average diameter of about 3.2 nm. Cyclic voltammetry results demonstrated that the Pt/GN nanocomposites modified glassy carbon electrode (Pt/GN/GCE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity to the reduction of H2O2. Amperometric response results indicated that Pt/GN/GCE displayed a fast response of less than 4 s with linear range of 2.5-6650 mu M and a relatively low detection limit of 0.8 mu M (S/N = 3). In addition, the Pt/GN/GCE showed good selectivity for H2O2 detection in the presence of several interfering species under physiological pH condition.
