Abstract: In this paper we show that if $A$ is a subset of Chen primes with positive relative density $\alpha$, then $A+A$ must have positive upper density at least $c\alpha e^{-c^\prime\log(1/\alpha)^{2/3}(\log\log(1/\alpha))^{1/3}}$ in the natural numbers.

Abstract:Let $P$ be a subset of the primes of lower density strictly larger than $\frac12$. Then, every sufficiently large even integer is a sum of four primes from the set $P$. We establish similar results for $k$-summands, with $k\geq 4$, and for $k \geq 4$ distinct subsets of primes. This extends the work of H.~Li, H.~Pan, as well as X.~Shao on sums of three primes, and A.~Alsteri and X.~Shao on sums of two primes. The primary new contributions come from elementary combinatorial lemmas.

Abstract:We prove that for arbitrary $c_0>0$, if $A$ is a subset of the primes less than $x$ with cardinality $\delta x (\log x)^{-1}$ with $\delta\geq (\log x)^{-c_0}$, then there exists a positive constant $c$ such that the cardinality of $A+A$ is larger than $c\, \delta x (\log\log x)^{-1}$. Counterexample shows that the $(\log\log x)^{-1}$-term here can not be eliminated and the result is not far from the best possible.

Abstract:If A is a dense subset of the integers, then A+A+A contains long arithmetic progressions. This problem has been studied by many people, but results of sparse sets are hard to obtain. In this paper, we prove that if A is a subset of the primes less than n with cardinality αn/logn, then A+A+A contains a long arithmetic progression of length at least{nc1α2/logα−1if α⩾(1/logloglogn)c0,c2α5(logα−1)−1nc3α4/logα−1if α⩾(1/logn)c0′.

Abstract:Let $N$ denote a sufficiently large even integer, we define $D_{1,2}(N)$ as the same as those in previous articles about Chen's theorem. In this paper, we show that $D_{1,2}(N) \geqslant 1.733 \frac{C(N) N}{(\log N)^2}$, improving previous record of Wu about $93\%$. We also get similar results on twin prime problem and additive representations of integers. An important step in the proof is the application of the theorems of Lichtman.

We prove that if $A$ is a subset of the primes such that the relative density of $A$ in every reduced residue class is at least $\delta$, then almost all even integers can be written as the sum of two primes in $A$. The constant $1/2$ in the statement is best possible. Abstract:A conjecture of Erdős states that, for any large prime $q$, every reduced residue class $\pmod q$ can be represented as a product $p_1p_2$ of two primes $p_1,p_2\leq q$. We establish a ternary version of this conjecture, showing that, for any sufficiently large cube-free integer $q$, every reduced residue class $\pmod q$ can be written as $p_1p_2p_3$ with $p_1,p_2,p_3\leq q$ primes. We also show that, for any $\varepsilon > 0$ and any sufficiently large integer $q$, at least $(2/3-\varepsilon)\varphi(q)$ reduced residue classes $\pmod q$ can be represented as a product $p_1 p_2$ of two primes $p_1, p_2 \leq q$. The problems naturally reduce to studying character sums. The main innovation in the paper is the establishment of a multiplicative dense model theorem for character sums over primes in the spirit of the transference principle. In order to deal with possible local obstructions we use bounds for the logarithmic density of primes in certain unions of cosets of subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_q^\times$ of small index and study in detail the exceptional case that there exists a quadratic character $\psi \pmod{q}$ such that $\psi(p) = -1$ for almost all primes $p \leq q$.
