A wearable remote real-time monitoring system for transmission line operation monitoring

Abstract:The overhead transmission line is a piece of important equipment for long-distance power transmission in China. To ensure the supply of power resources, it is very important to repair the overhead transmission line quickly and efficiently. But at present, in the transmission line maintenance process, because of the altitude difference and signal coverage, the supervisor cannot monitor all the actions of operators. Therefore, aiming at the problems existing in the current transmission line safety operation monitoring, this study adopts wireless local area network technology, compression coding technology, and streaming media transmission technology to develop a wearable long-distance real-time monitoring system, which is composed of video intercom terminals, ground workstations, and wireless communication equipment. In this study, a smartphone with an external eyeglass camera was used as a visual intercom terminal instead of a traditional surveillance camera. This study mainly designed software for ground workstation running Windows system and video intercom terminals running Android system based on Qt and FFmpeg. Simulation experiments are also carried out in this study, and their results show that the system can meet the requirements of real-time monitoring of overhead transmission line operations. The system can effectively improve the safety and maintenance efficiency of overhead transmission lines.
