Abstract:This paper presents an observer based H. output feedback synthesis method for discrete time fuzzy dynamic systems based on a piecewise Lyapunov function. The basic idea of the approach is to design an observer based piecewise linear output feedback control law to guarantee the global stability with H-infinity performance of the resulting closed-loop fuzzy control systems. It is shown that the controller parameters can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) that are numerically feasible with commercially available software. Application to control chaotic systems is given to illustrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper presents an H∞ controller synthesis method for discrete time fuzzy dynamic systems based on a piecewise smooth Lyapunov function. Abstract:The observer design and H∞ algorithm are proposed for the discrete-time fuzzy-logic systems in this article. The considered fuzzy-logic systems are subject to parameter uncertainty and unmeasurable state variables. To appropriately deal with parameter uncertainty and unmeasurable state variables, we first disintegrate the space of premise variables, then the total partitioned regions will be divided into two kinds: 1) crisp regions and 2) fuzzy regions. With the aid of partitioned regions, piecewise fuzzy H∞ observers are presented. Availability of the piecewise fuzzy H∞ observers gives us an accurate picture of the overall evolution of the augmented systems leading therefore to an improved situational awareness for the noncoordination of premise variables and external interference and, hence, the augmented systems achieve the performance conditions: asymptotic convergence and H∞ performance. The simulation results of the proposed approach show the accuracy of the resulting state estimates.

Abstract:This paper presents a stabilization approach for discrete-time nonlinear positive systems with delays via T-S fuzzy model which is developed for both state feedback and observerbased output feedback cases. The state feedback controller is designed based on trajectory approach. The observer-based controller design is obtained based on linear copositive Lyapunov functional and the trajectory approach. The proposed stabilization conditions are formulated in terms of linear programs(LPs), which can be solved efficiently by using existing optimization techniques. Copyright © 2013 IFAC.

Abstract:An Hinfin fuzzy observer-based control design is proposed for a class of nonlinear parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) systems with control constraints, for which the eigenspectrum of the spatial differential operator can be partitioned into a finite-dimensional slow one and an infinite-dimensional stable fast complement. In the proposed control scheme, Galerkin's method is initially applied to the PDE system to derive a nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE) system that accurately describes the dynamics of the dominant (slow) modes of the PDE system. The resulting nonlinear ODE system is subsequently represented by the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. Then, based on the T-S fuzzy model, a fuzzy observer-based controller is developed to stabilize the nonlinear PDE system and achieve an optimized Hinfin disturbance attenuation performance for the finite-dimensional slow system, while control constraints are respected. The outcome of the Hinfin fuzzy observer-based control problem is formulated as a bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) optimization problem. A local optimization algorithm that treats the BMI as a double linear matrix inequality is presented to solve this BMI optimization problem. Finally, the proposed design method is applied to the control of the temperature profile of a catalytic rod to illustrate its effectiveness.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of robust ${\mathscr H}_{\infty }$ output feedback control for a class of continuous-time Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy affine dynamic systems using quantized measurements. The objective is to design a suitable observer-based dynamic output feedback controller that guarantees the global stability of the resulting closed-loop fuzzy system with a prescribed ${\mathscr H}_{\infty }$ disturbance attenuation level. Based on common/piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions combined with S-procedure and some matrix inequality convexification techniques, some new results are developed to the controller synthesis for the underlying continuous-time T–S fuzzy affine systems with unmeasurable premise variables. All the solutions to the problem are formulated in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, two simulation examples are provided to illustrate the advantages of the proposed approaches.

Abstract:In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy finite-time control problem for pure-feedback switched nonlinear systems with prescribed performance is investigate. By utilizing the prescribed performance technique, we mean that the system output is converge to the predefined bounds. By using the dynamic surface control (DSC) and the backstepping technique, we establish a novel adaptive fuzzy finite-time pure-feedback switching control method. In such a scheme, the Butterworth low-pass filter (LPF) is used to construct the fuzzy observer, which can estimate the immeasurable states and avoid algebraic loop problem. In accordance with the stability theory of common Lyapunov function (CLF), the designed controller can ensures that the tracking error converges to a small neighborhood of the origin in finite time. Finally, an example is given to illustrate this method and verify its validity and effectiveness.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider observer-based adaptive fuzzy finite time control scheme for non-strict feedback uncertain nonlinear systems with unmodeled dynamics and input delay. A fuzzy state observer is employed to estimate the unmeasurable states and the unknown nonlinearities are identified by the fuzzy logic systems in each step. The design difficulty caused by the unmodeled dynamics and input delay is tackled by a dynamic signal and a compensation signal, respectively. Based on the proposed compensation signal, the considered input delay can be unknown and time varying. To decrease the computational burden, the dynamic surface control (DSC) scheme is adopted in the design process. In the framework of finite time Lyapunov theory, an effective adaptive fuzzy finite time controller has been obtained by combining the idea of backstepping technology with DSC scheme. The proposed method not only solves the algebraic loop problem, but also realizes the finite time stability performance constraint in the presence of input delay, unmodeled dynamics and unmeasurable states. Finally, the stability analysis shows that all signals of the closed-loop systems are bounded in finite time. Simulation results show the superiority of the devised scheme.

Abstract:A new type of control scheme combined with the distance-observer-based control and H infin control is proposed for a class of discrete-time complex models with exogenous disturbances. The unknown external disturbances are supposed to include two parts. One is generated by an exogenous system with uncertainty, which can represent the harmonic signals with modeling perturbations. The other is supposed to have the bounded H 2 -norm. The novel composite control scheme combined is applied to reject and attenuate the disturbances for such uncertain nonlinear discrete-time models. Parametric uncertainties exist both in concerned plant and in exogenous subsystem. By integrating the disturbance observers with H infin control laws, the first type of disturbances can be estimated and rejected, and the second one can be attenuated. Simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the results and compare the proposed results with the previous schemes.

Abstract:This article is concerned with the finite-time containment control problem for nonlinear multiagent systems, in which the states are not available for control design and the control input contains time delay. Fuzzy-logic systems (FLSs) are used to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions and a novel distributed fuzzy state observer is proposed to obtain the unmeasured states. Under the framework of cooperative control and finite-time Lyapunov function theory, an observer-based adaptive fuzzy finite-time output-feedback containment control scheme is developed via the adaptive backstepping control design algorithm and integral compensator technique. The proposed adaptive fuzzy containment control method can ensure that the closed-loop system is stable and all followers can converge to the convex hull built by the leaders in finite time. A simulation example is provided to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

Abstract:This article investigates the nonsynchronous-observer -based output-feedback control of nonlinear systems by Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy affine models. In order to estimate the unmeasurable system states and handle the nonsynchronization issue of premise variables between the observer/controller and the original system, a new nonsynchronous piecewise fuzzy affine observer is first synthesized to estimate the unmeasurable system state variables. Via utilizing some elegant matrix inequalities with convexification techniques, new observer-based piecewise output-feedback controller design results are proposed within the framework of piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions. Simulation studies are given to illustrate the validity of the developed approach.

Abstract:The problem of observer-based finite-time H-infinity control for discrete-time Markov jump systems with time-varying transition probabilities and uncertainties is studied in this paper, in which time-varying transition probabilities are modelled as convex polyhedron, and the parameter uncertainty satisfies normbounded. First of all, a Luenberger observer is designed to measure the system state. Then, observer based controller is constructed to ensure the stochastic finite-time boundedness of the resulting closed- loop system with an H(infinity )performance. Furthermore, sufficient conditions are derived in light of linear matrix inequalities. Abstract:This paper considers the robust H infin control of uncertain discrete-time fuzzy systems with time delays based on piecewise Lyapunov--Krasovskii functionals. It is shown that the stability with H infin disturbance attenuation performance can be established for the closed-loop fuzzy control systems if there exists a piecewise Lyapunov--Krasovskii functional, and moreover, the functional and the corresponding controller can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities that are numerically feasible. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the efficiency and the advantage of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this article, an adaptive fuzzy tracking control scheme based on a fuzzy state observer is proposed for a class of uncertain, nonstrict feedback, nonlinear systems with function constraints. In the first place, based on the approximation characteristic of fuzzy logic systems (FLSs), a fuzzy state observer is designed to estimate the immeasurable state variables in the controlled system. Next, under the framework of adaptive backstepping control technology, FLSs are selected not only to approximate unknown nonlinear functions but also to avoid the algebraic loop problem caused by nonstrict feedback structure. At the same time, asymmetric Barrier Lyapunov functions are selected to solve the problem that system states are subject to function constraints, which are related to states and time. Then, Lyapunov stability theory is utilized to prove the stability of the controlled system, the realizability of function constraints, and the convergence of output tracking errors. Finally, a simulation is given to check the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the observer-based output-feedback control (OBOFC) problem for a class of discrete-time strict-feedback nonlinear systems (DTSFNSs) with both multiplicative process noises and additive measurement noises. A state observer is first designed to estimate immeasurable system states, and then a novel observer-based backstepping control framework is proposed for DTSFNSs with known model information. To be specific, virtual control laws and the actual control law are derived using a variable substitution method that gets rid of the repeated accumulation of measurement noises in the recursive process. Furthermore, for technical derivation, the multiplicative noise is successively bounded by state estimation errors and controlled errors. Stability conditions are obtained to guarantee the exponential mean-square boundedness of the closed-loop system. Moreover, the nonlinear modeling uncertainties are taken into account to better reflect engineering practices. In virtue of the universal approximation property of fuzzy-logic systems, a fuzzy observer and the corresponding fuzzy output-feedback controller are simultaneously constructed to derive the stability criteria by using novel weight updated laws. Simulation studies are performed to test the validity of the proposed OBOFC scheme.
