Abstract:This paper focuses on dynamic output feedback fault-tolerant control design of a class of delta operator linear systems with sensor faults. A full order dynamic output switching control law and a state switching law are jointly designed to guarantee the closed-loop asymptotical stability in the presence of all admissible sensor faults. A flight control switched system is employed to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the problem of fault detection for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with time-varying delays via delta operator approach. By designing a filter to generate a residual signal, the fault detection problem addressed in this paper can be converted into a filtering problem. The time-varying delay is approximated by the two-term approximation method. Fuzzy augmented fault detection system is constructed in δ-domain, and a threshold function is given. By applying the scaled small gain theorem and choosing a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional in δ-domain, a sufficient condition of asymptotic stability with a prescribed H∞ disturbance attenuation level is derived for the proposed fault detection system. Then, a solvability condition for the designed fault detection filter is established, with which the desired filter can be obtained by solving a convex optimization problem. Finally, an example is given to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:SummaryThis paper is concerned with the sliding mode control of uncertain nonlinear systems against actuator faults and external disturbances based on delta operator approach. The nonlinearity, actuator fault, and external disturbance are considered in this study, and the bounds of Euclidean norms of the nonlinearity and the specific lower and upper bounds of the actuator faults and the disturbances are unknown knowledge. Our attention is mainly focused on designing a sliding mode fault‐tolerant controller to compensate the effects from the nonlinearity, unknown actuator fault, and external disturbance. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a novel‐adaptive fault‐tolerant sliding mode control law is deigned such that the resulting closed loop delta operator system is finite‐time convergence and the actuator faults can be tolerated, simultaneously. Finally, simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control design scheme. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:The issue of fault-tolerant control for a class of time-delay systems with sensor failures was investigated. Attention was focused on the design of output dynamical feedback controller which guaranteed the asymptotical stability of the closed-loop systems even when the sensor failed. Based on the [0, sigma] actuator model of failure and delay-dependent stability criterion for nominal time-delay systems, by introducing nonlinear transformation, the nonlinear inequality was translated into linear inequality, the sufficient conditions for the existence of feedback controller are obtained. Moreover, the expression for the desired controller is given by using the LMI and the cone complementary linearization iterative algorithm. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

Abstract:This paper investigates the problem of fault-tolerant state feedback fuzzy control for discrete-time nonlinear switched singular systems subject to the actuator fault. The typical Takagi-Sugeno model is utilized to process the nonlinearity of the systems. For the purpose of describing the intermittent occurrence of fast and slow switching among subsystems, a switching signal complying with persistent dwell-time switching regularity is introduced for the first time into the analysis of nonlinear switched singular systems. The primary objective is focused on constructing a fault-tolerant controller which can ensure that the closed-loop system is exponentially admissible with a prescribed l2 -gain performance in the presence of actuator fault. By using mode-dependent Lyapunov function and employing an improved matrix decoupling method, sufficient conditions with less conservatism for the existence of the desired controller are established and the explicit form of the controller gains is presented. For explaining the effectiveness of the proposed method, two illustrative examples are given finally.

Abstract:For the Lipschitz non-linear systems with time delay, disturbances and noises, this paper studies the robust H∞ fault-tolerant control problems under the situation of abrupt actuator faults. A fault detection filter is designed to detect the abrupt actuator faults, and a robust dynamic observer is presented to estimate the actuator faults and states. A fault-tolerant controller is designed by the dynamic output feedback. The designed fault-tolerant controller can make the fault systems be stable asymptotically and satisfy the H∞ performance. Finally, a simulation example illustrates the effectiveness and the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of fault detection for networked control systems (NCS), which based on delta operator. By using delta operator, a new model is proposed, then, based on the traditional shift operator described observer-based fault detection filter design, gives the delta operator model on NCS. The problem with uncertain delay and norm bounded unknown input affect NCS robust fault detection filter design problem boils down to the H <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">∞</sub> filter design. By using the linear matrix inequality (LMI), solve the H <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">∞</sub> filter optimal solution, which can ensure that the unknown input delay and uncertainty robustness, but also to maximize the sensitivity of the residual signal for fault. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Abstract:This article concentrates on the output feedback controller design problem for discrete-time nonlinear switched systems with actuator faults. The Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is adopted to approximate the nonlinearity of the plant with a set of local linear models. The persistent dwell-time (DT) switching law, which is more general than DT or average DT switching, is introduced to govern the switching among subsystems. In order to alleviate the effects of actuator failures on system stability and performance, a synthesized fault-tolerant output feedback controller ensuring various performance requirements is designed. Intensive attention is focused on establishing sufficient conditions, which can guarantee the exponential mean-square stability as well as the prescribed extended dissipativity property of the closed-loop system. By virtue of the Lyapunov stability theory and appropriate matrix transformation methods, the desired controller gains can be obtained by solving a convex optimization problem. The developed method is finally applied to address the control issue of a tunnel diode circuit system model to illustrate its efficiency and applicability.

Abstract:This study is concerned with the design of an event-triggered fault estimation and fault tolerant model predictive control scheme for linear systems subject to disturbances and actuator faults by using the method of delta operator. First, an observer is established to estimate the state and the fault simultaneously. An H-2/H-infinity model predictive controller with fault compensation signals is then proposed through solving a constrained optimisation problem. An event-triggered scheme is employed to conserve the network bandwidth. The new design techniques are shown to be effective via simulation results.

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of stability and robust stabilization for a class of uncertain time delay switched systems using the delta operator. Based on multiple Lyapunov-Krasovskii function in delta domain, a sufficient condition for the existence of stability of the delta operator time delay switched system is presented, and a new sampling period and delay dependent design approach to robust state feedback controller is addressed. The proposed controller can robustly stabilize the uncertain delta operator time delay switched system for all admissible parameter perturbations. The solution to the controller is formulated in the form of a set of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed method.

Abstract:This study considers the problem of adaptive sliding mode control for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with actuator faults and external disturbances via the delta operator method. The delta operator approach is used to represent the discrete-time non-linear systems described by T-S fuzzy models. The actuator fault considered in this study is unknown and its fault-deviation is also unknown. A reduced-order system is utilised to design the sliding mode surface subject to linear matrix inequality constraint. By constructing the sliding mode surface, a novel adaptive sliding mode controller is designed to guarantee that the closed-loop system is uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, two practical examples are presented to show the effectiveness and applicability of the developed fault-tolerant control scheme.

Abstract:A fault tolerant controller was developed for uncertain time-delay systems with both sensor and actuator failures was discussed.Based on Lyapunov stability analysis and H∞ control design method,A memoryless and memory state feedback control which can decrease the influence of time delay was designed by means of the feasibility of some linear matrix inequality(LMI).The fault tolerant control system with this state feedback control can guarantee the integrity of the system together with the prescribed H∞ performance index.Simulation results on a test example are presented to validate the proposed design method.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel fault-tolerant tracking control strategy for over-actuated systems subject to actuator fault, control input saturation and external disturbance. The proposed method integrates the effect of actuator saturation and the actuator fault into a generalized disturbance. The generalized disturbance is considered as an auxiliary state vector to construct an augmented system. Based on the augmented system, an H-infinity dynamic output feedback controller is designed to achieve fault-tolerant control. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it can achieve robust fault-tolerant control without depending on the fault diagnosis module and on-line control allocation algorithm. The design conditions are formulated as a set of linear matrix inequalities, which can be solved efficiently. Simulation results of a flight vehicle are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the non-fragile reliable D-stabilization problem of a class of delta operator switched linear systems with actuator faults, in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Firstly, to handle the determination problem of the decay rate of a delta operator system in the process of D-stabilizing, the theory of first-order LMI regions is proposed. Secondly, to deal with the uncertain matrices multiplication phenomenon appearing in non-fragile reliable control, a new approach is proposed. Based on the average dwell time technique and the two new methods mentioned above, the state feedback controller and the switching law are designed to guarantee that all the closed-loop poles of each mode lie in a specified disk and the closed-loop switched system is exponentially stable. Finally, the validity and feasibility of the proposed approach are illustrated by a flight control system example.
