Abstract:Objective To investigate the role of nm23-H1 in cancerization and metastasis of human gastric carcinoma. Methods Samples of 39 gastric carcinoma tissues and 38 normal gastric mucosa from 39 cases with gastric carcinoma were taken and the expression of nm23-H1 mRNA was analyzed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results No significant difference of expression of nm23-H1 mRNA was detected between gastric carcinoma ( 33.3%) and normal gastric mucosa ( 28.9%). No significant relations were found between the expression of nm23-H1 mRNA and carcinoma metastasis. Conclusion Both gastric carcinoma tissues and normal gastric mucosa can express nm23-H1 which probably doesn't play a significant role in the inhibition of gastric carcinoma metastasis.
