Abstract:In this paper,dynamical behavior of a kind of SEIS model with the saturating contact rate is studied.A basic reproductive number which determines the outcome of infectious disease is discovered.Specially,if the death rate due to disease equals zero,the sole equilibrium point of the limit equation for endemic is asymptotically stable in global field.The result shows that in the SEIS model with the saturating contact rate,the basic reproductive number taking account of the death of illness is lower than that without thinking over the death of illness.In the meantime,the basic reproductive number with constant immigration is higher than that with constant population.

Abstract:In this paper, an SEIRS epidemic model with a saturation incidence rate and a time delay describing a latent period is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of an endemic equilibrium and a disease-free equilibrium is established. When the basic reproduction number is greater than unity, by means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are obtained for the global asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium. By comparison arguments, it is proved that if the basic reproduction number is less than unity, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main theoretical results.

Abstract:The global properties of an SEIRS model with saturating contact rate are investigated systematically. We have proved that when the basic reproduction number is less than unity, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. Further, a unique endemic equilibrium exists for some conditions. Using a Krasnoselskii sub-linearity trick, it is shown that the endemic equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable for a special case. Finally, a non-linear Lyapunov function is used to show the globally asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium. Numerical simulations illustrate the main results in the paper.

Abstract:We present an SEIS epidemic model with infective force in both latent period and infected period, which has different general saturation incidence rates. It is shown that the global dynamics are completely determined by the basic reproductive number R0. If R0≤1, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable in T by LaSalle’s Invariance Principle, and the disease dies out. Moreover, using the method of autonomous convergence theorem, we obtain that the unique epidemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable in T0, and the disease spreads to be endemic.

Abstract:An SEI autonomous model with logistic growth rate and its corresponding nonautonomous model are investigated. For the autonomous case, we give the attractive regions of equilibria and perform some numerical simulations. Basic demographic reproduction numberRdis obtained. Moreover, only the basic reproduction numberR0cannot ensure the existence of the positive equilibrium, which needs additional conditionRd>R1. For the nonautonomous case, by introducing the basic reproduction number defined by the spectral radius, we study the uniform persistence and extinction of the disease. The results show that for the periodic system the basic reproduction number is more accurate than the average reproduction number.

Abstract:Heesterbeek and Metz [J. Math. Biol. 31 (1993) 529] derived an expression for the saturating contact rate of individual contacts in an epidemiological model. In this paper, the SEIR model with this saturating contact rate is studied. The basic reproduction number R0 is proved to be a sharp threshold which completely determines the global dynamics and the outcome of the disease. If R0 < or =1, the disease-free equilibrium is globally stable and the disease always dies out. If R0 > 1, there exists a unique endemic equilibrium which is globally stable and the disease persists at an endemic equilibrium state if it initially exists. The contribution of the saturating contact rate to the basic reproduction number and the level of the endemic equilibrium is also analyzed.

Abstract:An SEIR epidemic model with constant immigration and random fluctuation around the endemic equilibrium is considered. As a special case, a deterministic system discussed by Li et al. will be incorporated into the stochastic version given by us. We carry out a detailed analysis on the asymptotic behavior of the stochastic model, also regarding of the basic reproduction number R-0. By means of Lyapunov functions we give sufficient conditions for globally stochastically asymptotic stability of the unique positive endemic equilibrium. When R-0 > 1, under the sufficient conditions, we deduce the globally asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium by measuring the difference between the solution and the endemic equilibrium of the deterministic model in time average, the disease will prevail and the infected fraction persists. Numerical simulations support our analytical conclusions and show the effect of intensity of white noise on stability of the system.
Stability Research of an SEIR Model with Distinct General Contact Rates and Infectious Force in Latent and Recovered Period

Abstract:: In this work, an SEIR infectious model with distinct general contact rates and infectious force in latent and recovered period is established, and the stability of the model is studied using theoretical and numerical methods. First, we derive the basic reproduction number 0 R , which determines whether the disease is extinct or not. Second, using the LaSalle’s invariance principle, we show that the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and the disease always dies out when 0 1 R  . On the other hand, by Routh-Hurwitz criterion theory, we also prove that the disease-free equilibrium is unstable and that the unique endemic equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable when 0 1 R  . Third, through the method of autonomous convergence theorem, we obtain that the unique endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and the disease persists at this endemic equilibrium when 0 1 R  . Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to confirm the theoretical analysis .

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate an SEIR epidemic model in which recruitment is assumed to be regulated by a constant function. The SEIR model is a widely-used epidemiological framework that categorises the population into four distinct groups: Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, and Removed. It employs a system of differential equations to describe the transitions of individuals among these groups, making it a valuable tool for understanding and modelling the dynamics of infectious diseases. Mathematical analysis is used to study the dynamic behaviour of this model. We first determine the basic reproduction number, denoted as R0 , which governs the dynamics of the SEIR model. Our findings reveal that when R0 is less than 1, the unique disease-free equilibrium is asymptotically stable, and there is no endemic equilibrium. However, when R0 exceeds 1, the disease-free equilibrium becomes unstable, and a unique, asymptotically stable endemic equilibrium emerges. Furthermore, by constructing appropriate Lyapunov functions, we have studied the global asymptotic stability of the two equilibrium points. On the other hand, we have used the backstepping method to design a control law that stabilises the SEIR model towards the disease-free equilibrium, which means the eradication of the disease from the target population. Next, we have used the same method to synchronise the SEIR drive system and the SEIR response system. This method is used to stabilise the synchronisation error dynamics arising from the mismatch between the drive and response systems. Finally, we presented numerical simulations to illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:We study the global dynamics of a reaction-diffusion SEIR infection model with distributed delay and nonlinear incidence rate. The well-posedness of the proposed model is proved. By means of Lyapunov functionals, we show that the disease free equilibrium state is globally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number is less or equal than one, and that the disease endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number is greater than one. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the obtained theoretical results.

Abstract:A disease transmission model of SEIR type with exponential demographic structure is formulated, with a natural death rate constant and an excess death rate constant for infective individuals. The latent period is assumed to be constant, and the force of the infection is assumed to be of the standard form, namely, proportional to I .t/=N .t/ where N .t/ is the total (variable) population size and I .t/ is the size of the infective population. The infected individuals are assumed not to be able to give birth and when an individual is removed from the I -class, it recovers, acquiring permanent immunity with probability f .0 ≤ f ≤ 1/ and dies from the disease with probability 1 − f . The global attractiveness of the disease-free equilibrium, existence of the endemic equilibrium as well as the permanence criteria are investigated. Further, it is shown that for the special case of the model with zero latent period, R0 > 1 leads to the global stability of the endemic equilibrium, which completely answers the conjecture proposed by Diekmann and Heesterbeek.

Abstract:In this article, an SIRS epidemic model spread by vectors (mosquitoes) which have an incubation time to become infectious is formulated. It is shown that a disease-free equilibrium point is globally stable if no endemic equilibrium point exists. Further, the endemic equilibrium point (if it exists) is globally stable with a respect “weak delay”. Some known results are generalized.

Abstract:To be more precise about the real world activity, a stochastic multigroup SEIR epidemic model is formulated. we define the basic reproduction number R-0(S) and showthat it is a sharp threshold for the dynamics of SDE model. If R-0(S) < 1, the disease-free equilibrium is asymptotically stable; and if R-0(S) > 1, the disease persists and there exists a globally asymptotically stable stationary distribution. Numerical simulation examples are carried out to substantiate the analytical results.
