Abstract:In this paper, a simple procedure for the determination of 2,4,5-trichlorophenol (2,4,5-TCP) is reported. Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) capped by molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared. MIPs were characterized by spectrofluorometer, UV–vis spectrophotometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Meanwhile, spectrofluorometer was used to the evaluation of optical stability, the effect of pH, and the selective and sensitive determination of 2,4,5-TCP. Under optical conditions, MIPs-capped Mn-doped ZnS QDs were successfully applied to the detection of 2,4,5-TCP in water selectively and sensitively, and a linear relationship was obtained to cover the concentration range of 5.0–50μmolL−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9913. Moreover, 2,4,5-TCP could quench the room temperature phosphorescence of MIPs-capped Mn-doped ZnS QDs in a concentration-dependent manner, which was best described by a Stern–Volmer-type equation.

Abstract:In this paper, Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) capped by a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) were synthesized. The results showed a high selectivity of the MIP-capped Mn-doped ZnS QDs toward the template molecule (4-nitrophenol) by QD fluorescence quenching. The application of MIP-capped Mn-doped ZnS QDs to the chemiluminescence (CL) system was also studied using a KIO(4)-H(2)O(2) system. This application combines the good selectivity of MIP with the high sensitivity of CL. The linear range of this CL system is from 0.1 to 40 microM, and the detection limit (DL) for 4-nitrophenol in the water can reach 76 nM. The method was also used in the real water samples, and the recoveries can fall in the range of 91-96%.

Abstract:As one of the most widely used organophosphorus pesticides, chlorpyrifos (CPF) is toxic to humans. However, the rapid, effective and sensitive detection of CPF is still a challenge. In this paper, a novel molecularly imprinted phosphorescent sensor with a core-shell structure (Mn:ZnS QDs@ZIF-8@MIP) using Mn:ZnS quantum dots (QDs) as phosphorescent emitters was prepared for the highly sensitive and selective detection of CPF, and a simple and rapid room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) detection method for CPF was proposed. For the prepared Mn:ZnS QDs@ZIF-8@MIP, Mn:ZnS QDs had good phosphorescence emission characteristics, ZIF-8 as support materials was used to improve the dispersibility of Mn:ZnS QDs, and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) on the surface of ZIF-8 was used to improve the selectivity of Mn:ZnS QDs for CPF. Under the optimal response conditions, the RTP intensity of Mn:ZnS QDs@ZIF-8@MIP showed a rapid response to CPF (less than 5 min), the RTP intensity ratio of P-0/P had a good linear relationship with the concentration of CPF in the range of 0-80 mu M, and the detection limit of this method was 0.89 mu M with the correlation coefficient of 0.99. Moreover, this simple and rapid method has been successfully used to detect CPF in real water samples with satisfactory results, and the recoveries ranged from 92% to 105% with a relative standard deviation of less than 1%. This method combines the advantages of phosphorescence emission and molecular imprinting, and greatly reduces the potential interferences of competitive substances, background fluorescence and scattered light, which opens up a broad prospect for the highly sensitive and selective detection of pollutants in water based on molecularly imprinted phosphorescent sensors.

Abstract:In this study, molecularly imprinted polymers with Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (ZnS:Mn QDs) were prepared using dibutyl phthalate (DBP) as the template molecule, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) as the functional monomer and the tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) as the cross-linker. ZnS:Mn QDs offer a readout signal to monitor the amount of DBP bound to the imprinted matrix and to evaluate the efficiency of imprinting. The products MIPs-ZnS:Mn QDs were characterized by transmission electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and fluorescence spectroscopy. In addition, optical stability and the effect of pH on fluorescence intensity were evaluated. The obtained polymers can sensitively and selectively recognize template molecules in real samples via fluorescence intensity. The fluorescence intensity decreases linearly with increasing concentration in the range of 5.0-50 mu mol L-1. It reaches a detection limit of 0.27 mu mol L-1. The average recovery rate of DBP at three spiking levels is more than 98.1%.

Abstract:A one-step precipitation polymerization synthesis was adopted for the preparation of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) by using hydroquinone as a template molecule. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) exhibited that the polymers were uniform spheres with the diameter of about 700 nm. The results of adsorption experiments showed that the microspherical imprinted polymers possessed fast adsorption dynamics. Compared to the structurally similar compounds, catechol and resorcinol, the MIPs exhibited a high recognizable capacity to hydroquinone. And the electrochemical sensor fabricated by modifying the prepared MIPs microsphere on the glassy carbon electrode surface was used to detect the hydroquinone concentration. The current response was proportional to the concentration of hydroquinone in the range of 2.0 x 10(-6) to 1.0 X 10(-4) Mol/L with the detection limit of 1.0 x 10(-6) mol/L.

Abstract:In this paper, based on Mn doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) and by anchoring a MIPs layer on the surface of SiO2 nanoparticles, the novel fluorescence molecularly imprinted polymers (SiO2@QDs@MIPs) were successfully synthesized by precipitation polymerization, with acrylamide (AM) as the functional monomer and ethyl glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the cross-linker. The prepared SiO2@QDs@MIPs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and fluorescence spectroscopy. The products show excellent optical properties and molecular recognition ability of molecularly imprinted polymers. It can recognize sensitively and selectively the template molecules, dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Under optimized experiment conditions, the fluorescence intensity decreases linearly with increasing concentration of DBP. in the range of 5-50 mu mol L-1, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9974. Furthermore, the SiO2@QDs@MIPs were successfully applied to analysis of tap water sample, and the average recovery rate of DBP at three spiking levels is more than 97.80%, with RSD below 3.25%. Abstract:ZnO quantum dots and CuFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical precipitation. The ZCF composite was created by the solvothermal method. A new molecularly imprinted fluorescence sensor (ZCF@MB-MIP) with unique optical properties and specific MB recognition was successfully generated. ZCF@MB-MIPs were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction and were applied for the selective detection of methylene blue (MB). The optimal working time of ZCF@MB-MIPs was 15 min, and the optimal working concentration was 37 mg.L-1. The fluorescence intensity was linearly quenched within the 0-100 mu mol.L-1 MB range, and the detection limit was 1.27 mu mol.L-1. The imprinting factor of the sensor (IF, KMB-MIPs/N-MIPs) was 5.30. At the same time, a real-time monitoring system was established for the photodegradation process of MB, which had the effect of reflecting the degradation degree of MB at any given time. Hence, ZCF@MB-MIPs are a promising candidate for use in MB monitoring, and they also provides a new strategy for constructing a multifunctional fluorescence sensor with a high selectivity and photolysis function.

Abstract:A novel multifunctional silica magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MQDs-MIPs) nanoparticle probe was synthesized for the rapid detection of triflumuron (TFM). The fluorescence probe consists of magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ) as a core and is wrapped with a molecularly imprinted polymer doped with Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs). Under optimal detection condition, the fluorescence quenching efficiency of MIP@Fe 3 O 4 @ZnS:Mn QDs displayed a linear relationship over the concentration range of 0–27.88 μmol/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9947. Four structurally similar compounds were selected for selectivity testing and the nanocomposite showed good selectivity with a higher imprint factor of 2.52. This developed method has the advantages of simple preparation, fast response and low toxicity for trace TFM detection.

Abstract:New strategies for silica coating of inorganic nanoparticles became a research hotspot for enhancing the mechanical stability of colloidal particles and protecting colloidal particles against oxidation and agglomeration, and so on. In this paper, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES)-functionalized Mn doped (AF MnD) ZnS QDs was prepared to be firsyly through the use of silane coupling agents to form an active layer of silica, then sol-gel reaction of TEOS co-deposited with APTES on the surface of resultant active layer of silica. The emitted long lifetime room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) of the resultant nanomaterials allows an appropriate delay time so that any fluorescent emission and scattering light can be easily avoided. The APTES anchored on the layer of silica can bind 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) species to form TNT anion through acid-base pairing interaction, the TNT anion species may increase the charge-transfer pathways from the nanocrystals to nitroaromatic analytes, therefore further enhance the quenching efficiency of RTP. Moreover, APTES as capped reagents can enlarge the spectral sensitivity and enhance RTP response of nanocrystals to the electron-deficient nitroaromatic and nitrophenol species. Meanwhile, AF MnD ZnS QDs also exhibited a highly selective response toward TNT analyte through significant color change and quenching of (4)T(1) to (6)A(1) transition emission. This AF MnD ZnS QDs based sensor showed a very good linearity in the range of 0.05-1.8μM with detection limit down to 50 nM (quenching percentage of phosphorescence intensity of 8%) and RSD of 3.5% (n=5). The reported QDs-based chemosensors here open up a promising prospect for the sensitive and convenient sensing of TNT explosive.

Abstract:To develop the semiconductor of ZnO nanomaterials as the fluorescence sensor without leakage toxicity. Here, a molecularly imprinted polymer captivity ZnO nanorods (NRs) (MIPs-captivity ZnO NRs) was fabricated by precipitation polymerization. Such traditional technology was not only achieved the specific recognition for direct fluorescent quantification of the target tetracycline (TC) through fluorescence quenching, but also formed the shield to reduce the toxic effects of ZnO towards organisms. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the MIPs-captivity ZnONRs were effectively applied to the direct fluorescence quantification of TC with excellent stability. Moreover, the practical analytical performance of the MIPs-captivity ZnO NRs was assayed by appraising the detection effects of TC in water sample from the Yangtze River with satisfactory results. -Phosphorescent Mesoporous Surface Imprinting Microspheres: Preparation and Application for Transferrin Recognition from Biological Fluids

Abstract:The relationship between the thickness of surface molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) and specific recognition performance of transferrin (Trf) as well as the quantitative relation between the grafting amount of Mn-ZnS room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) quantum dots (QDs) (short for PQDs) and RTP signals for recognition of Trf was analyzed in this study. Based on analysis results, RTP protein mesoporous imprinting microspheres (SiO2-PQDs-MIPs) with high specificity and strong interference resistance were developed using a mesoporous SiO2 nanomaterial that can create more three-dimensional precise recognition sites as the matrix and using PQDs with strong resistance to background fluorescence interference as the luminescent materials. A discriminatory analysis of Trf was realized by the phosphorescence quenching principle based on light quenching caused by the photoinduced electron transfer. The concentration range, limit of detection, relative standard deviation, and imprinting factor of Trf detection under pH 7.4 are 0.05-1.0 μM, 0.014 μM, 3.23%, and 3.09, respectively. Although the sensing signals of SiO2-PQDs-MIPs for proteins are based on the phosphorescence of PQDs, they are particularly suitable for specific recognition and accurate quantitative detection of proteins in biological fluids. Research conclusions are expected to realize high-efficiency recognition of target proteins in actual biological samples.
Quantum Dots Based Mesoporous Structured Imprinting Microspheres for the Sensitive Fluorescent Detection of Phycocyanin

Abstract:Phycocyanin with important physiological/environmental significance has attracted increasing attention; versatile molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have been applied to diverse species, but protein imprinting is still quite difficult. Herein, using phycocyanin as template via a sol-gel process, we developed a novel fluorescent probe for specific recognition and sensitive detection of phycocyanin by quantum dots (QDs) based mesoporous structured imprinting microspheres (SiO2@QDs@ms-MIPs), obeying electron-transfer-induced fluorescence quenching mechanism. When phycocyanin was present, a Meisenheimer complex would be produced between phycocyanin and primary amino groups of QDs surface, and then the photoluminescent energy of QDs would be transferred to the complex, leading to the fluorescence quenching of QDs. As a result, the fluorescent intensity of the SiO2@QDs@ms-MIPs was significantly decreased within 8 min, and accordingly a favorable linearity within 0.02-0.8 μM and a high detectability of 5.9 nM were presented. Excellent recognition specificity for phycocyanin over its analogues was displayed, with a high imprinting factor of 4.72. Furthermore, the validated probe strategy was successfully applied to seawater and lake water sample analysis, and high recoveries in the range of 94.0-105.0% were attained at three spiking levels of phycocyanin, with precisions below 5.3%. The study provided promising perspectives to develop fluorescent probes for convenient, rapid recognition and sensitive detection of trace proteins from complex matrices, and further pushed forward protein imprinting research.

CdTe quantum dots (QDs) capped by molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared and characterized by spectrofluorometer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Mercaptosuccinic acid (MSA) was chosen as a stabilizer for CdTe QDs synthesis. The MSA stabilizer which comprises both thioglycolic acid (TGA)-like and 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA)-like moieties could accelerate the whole growth process of CdTe QDs comparing with TGA-like or MPA-like stabilizer. Meanwhile, the spectrofluorometer was used to evaluate the optical stability, effect of pH, and selective and sensitive determination of λ-cyhalothrin (LC). Moreover, LC could quench the fluorescence of the molecularly imprinted silica nanospheres (CdTe@SiO2@MIPs) in a concentration-dependent manner, which was best described by a Stern–Volmer-type equation.

Abstract:In this work, multifunctional molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) based on CdTe quantum dots (QDs) and graphene oxide (GO) were prepared for selective recognition and separation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP). GO was used to improve the adsorption capacity and sensing rate of MIPs. CdTe QDs offered a readout signal to monitor the amount of 2,4,6-TCP bound to the imprinted matrix. The molecularly imprinted shell provided analyte selectivity. The prepared composite was evaluated and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, thermo gravimetric analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The linear relationship was from 0.2 to 40 mmol L-1, with a detection limit of 0.18 mmol L-1 which provided a simple and selective sensing system for recognition of 2,4,6-TCP. Moreover, a molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction (MISPE) method followed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for detection of 2,4,6-TCP was also established. The linear relationship was from 0.02 to 2.5 mmol L-1 with a detection limit of 0.25 ng mL(-1), which was more suitable to determine trace 2,4,6-TCP.
One-Pot Preparation of Ratiometric Fluorescent Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Nanosensor for Sensitive and Selective Detection of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid

Abstract:The development of fluorescent molecular imprinting sensors for direct, rapid, and sensitive detection of small organic molecules in aqueous systems has always presented a significant challenge in the field of detection. In this study, we successfully prepared a hydrophilic colloidal molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) using a one-pot approach that incorporated polyglycerol methacrylate (PGMMA-TTC), a hydrophilic macromolecular chain transfer agent, to mediate reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer precipitation polymerization (RAFTPP). To simplify the polymerization process while achieving ratiometric fluorescence detection, red fluorescent CdTe quantum dots (QDs) and green fluorescent nitrobenzodiazole (NBD) were introduced as fluorophores (with NBD serving as an enhancer to the template and QDs being inert). This strategy effectively eliminated background noise and significantly improved detection accuracy. Uniform-sized MIP microspheres with high surface hydrophilicity and incorporated ratiometric fluorescent labels were successfully synthesized. In aqueous systems, the hydrophilic ratio fluorescent MIP exhibited a linear response range from 0 to 25 μM for the template molecule 2,4-D with a detection limit of 0.13 μM. These results demonstrate that the ratiometric fluorescent MIP possesses excellent recognition characteristics and selectivity towards 2,4-D, thus, making it suitable for selective detection of trace amounts of pesticide 2,4-D in aqueous systems.
