FUNCTION OF SiO2 OXIDATION LAYER OF ON SiCp/Al2O3-Al COMPOSITES PREPARED BY DIRECTED METAL OXIDATION

Abstract:SiC_p/Al_2O_3-Al composites were synthesized by directed oxidation of metals(DIMOX).The microstructures of the composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),optical microcopy and scanning electron microcopy(SEM). The influence of SiO_2 oxidation layer on the property of SiC_p/Al_2O_3-Al composites was investigated. The results indicated that the formation SiO_2 layer could protect the powdering of the samples, shorten the incubation period and promote the density of the composites.
