Abstract:With the pushing forward of higher education globalization,international university evaluation is showing its role of practical orientation increasingly.“Academic Ranking of World University”,“World University Ranking” and “International University Innovative Competence Ranking” are very influential in China.Each evaluation objective,norm and parameter designing has their characteristics.Some of the evaluation results are the same and others are different.With the development of higher education globalization,international university evaluation is important reference value and realistic significance because it can offer information about school running for different groups.The future international university evaluation should gradually sum up the experience and continuously perfect evaluation theory so as to promote university construction.

Abstract:To improve the quality of its colleges and universities, China has carried out five rounds of government-led evaluation of undergraduate teaching since the 1990s, and has gradually developed a “five-in-one” evaluation system. The evaluation system in China not only draws lessons from the systems of other countries, but also has its own characteristics. Nevertheless, problems persist in terms of the diversity of evaluation subjects, predominance of government management, lack of system standardization, somewhat arbitrary implementation, poor feedback channels for evaluation findings, and difficulty realizing the improvement function. In the future, China must increase the enthusiasm of colleges and universities by enhancing their role as evaluation subjects, while also strengthening evaluation laws, improving evaluation feedback channels, and genuinely allowing evaluation to play its critical role in improving education quality.

Abstract:This paper presents the findings of a national survey of student satisfaction with undergraduate teaching in a sample of universities and colleges in China. The results show that while a high proportion of academic staff participates in undergraduate teaching, levels of student satisfaction are low. The lowest levels of student satisfaction are found in research-intensive universities. The study concludes that the main causes of this situation are: a shortage of well-qualified academic staff; the pressure on academic staff to focus their time on research output; policies and practices that emphasize research-orientation in the evaluation of academic staff performance; and poor support for teaching in terms of both support staff and teaching facilities.

Abstract:According the general guidance issued by the Ministry of Education and the principle of promote development through evaluation, Tsinghua University takes undergraduate teaching evaluation as both an opportunity and a drive, upholds the idea of fostering talent as the core mission of the University, and reinforces the central role of teaching in the University. Tsinghua also enhances innovative talents fostering of the research university through carrying forward its traditions, reforms and innovations. Moreover, Tsinghua consolidates teaching management, improves education quality assurance system, and hence strengthens undergraduate teaching and raises the quality in fostering talent.
Internet-mediated Intercultural English Language Education in China's Higher Education Institutions

Abstract:In the information age, the advent of Internet technologies has made it possible to transform language learning and teaching, through online intercultural exploration and exchange. The role of English as an international language in global communication is recognised in China's latest national guidelines for tertiary language curricula, which seek to develop professionals possessing both sound language proficiency and intercultural competence, alongside other goals such as information literacy and learner autonomy. This thesis examines the actual delivery of an intercultural dimension mediated by Internet technologies. To this end, this thesis reports an investigation into the situation of Internet-mediated intercultural English language teaching and learning at China's higher education institutions conducted between 2008 and 2009. Multi-stage and multi-site fieldwork combined a survey approach and a collective case study approach. The researcher being the primary data collection tool, data obtained from questionnaire survey, interview (and informal conversation), observation and document collection instruments have been combined. The survey findings thus not only have breadth, but also provide materials for in-depth studies of sample cases. Four cases, demonstrating a variety of institutional, individual, pedagogical and technological factors, are analysed at greater length to explore whether evidenced Internet-mediated practices might facilitate an intercultural approach to teaching and learning. Comparisons suggest that, despite their differing characteristics and contexts, there are some commonalities in terms of Internet-mediated activities entailing elements of an intercultural approach. These elements are synthesised and mapped out in an original pedagogical framework for Internet-mediated intercultural teaching and learning, with a set of guiding principles. This framework advocates establishing an Internet-mediated intra-class community as the basis for undertaking intercultural language activities, complementing the prevailing telecollaborative model for the development of intercultural communicative competence. This outcome contributes to a fuller understanding of the design of Internet-mediated intercultural language activities.

Abstract:Chinese higher education has been actively developed in recent decades as a major engine of national prosperity. This investment has spurred substantial and growing interest in understanding student and graduate outcomes. After discussing this policy context, the paper deploys an international lens to analyse evaluation mechanisms being used and developed in China. Specific initiatives are discussed to particularise each mechanism and to help link them with international developments. The paper's final section reviews China's apparent progress in this field and concludes by considering the growing role of technology in future policy development.

Abstract:In recent years, with the popularization of higher education, quality problems have become increasingly prominent, and government documents often propose that the main task of education reform and development is to improve the quality of higher education. As a result, teaching evaluations have appeared one after another. Although various evaluation activities are carried out dynamically, expert evaluation has proven to be one of the most effective methods to ensure professional quality. This will help improve the quality of human resource development, promote regional economic development, improve the quality assurance system of higher education, and promote the formation of professional skills development mechanisms. This article studies the teaching evaluation index system and intelligent evaluation methods of vocational undergraduate pilot colleges, understands the relevant knowledge of the teaching evaluation index system on the basis of literature data, and then, constructs the teaching evaluation system of vocational undergraduate pilot colleges. The constructed system is tested, and the test results show that the error of the results of teacher self-evaluation and student evaluation is controlled within the two, which also verifies that the construction of the teaching ability evaluation index system this time is reasonable and scientific.

Abstract:Purpose The number of international students in China has been increasing over the recent decades. The rapid expansion of the international student population aroused concerns over the capacity of Chinese universities to fulfill international students’ expectations toward academic development. Perceiving student learning experiences as an important indicator of higher education quality, this article focuses on undergraduate international students in China and discusses their learning experiences from three perspectives, i.e., perceived learning environment, academic engagement, and student development. Design/Approach/Methods Data were generated by a survey involving 1,428 international students studying for an undergraduate degree at 34 universities in China. Descriptive statistics were calculated, and the structural equation model was applied. Findings The research showed the respondents’ academic development in a range of skills and abilities, while their learning experiences at the Chinese higher education institutions (HEIs) were largely unsatisfactory. Specifically, the research revealed the respondents’ moderate-to-low-level evaluation of perceived classroom learning environment, their low level of academic engagement, and the significant negative influences of the perceived classroom learning environment and academic engagement on their academic development. Originality/Value The analysis holds implications for the enhancement of positive learning experiences of international undergraduate students in China and the improvement of the quality of Chinese international student education. Student learning experiences are an important indicator of the quality of college teaching. Drawing on the data generated by a survey involving 1,428 international students studying for an undergraduate degree at 34 universities in China, this presentation explores the characteristics of international undergraduate students’ learning experiences in Chinese universities and analyzes the relationship among the three dimensions of their learning experiences.

Abstract:The conventional teaching approach is reversed in the flipped classroom, which means a reversal of teaching and learning. Learners use micro-videos and guided learning plans to learn knowledge before class. Then, they discuss, communicate, and cooperate with teachers and classmates in class to promote the internalization of knowledge. At the same time, the flipped classroom is student-oriented, with the teacher as the leader and organizer to help students acquire knowledge. Although this teaching model is widely used in the world, it is in its infancy in China, and there is little research on the teaching practice and assessment system of English flipped classroom in higher education. Therefore, this paper analyzes the current situation of English flipped classroom in higher education in China by reviewing four aspects: research on the practice of flipped classroom, theoretical research, problems of assessment in practice, and countermeasures of assessment problems in practice, and proposes corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for improvement, so as to provide reference and reference for English teachers in higher education of China.

At present, the research results of students’ evaluation of teaching in higher education are relatively rich, mainly focusing on reliability, validity and its influencing factors, construction of index system, problems in practical application and improvement strategies. Abstract:The quality assurance of higher education in China is an issue of vital international interest. To improve the international reputation of the nation's universities, steps must be taken to ensure a sustained focus on the quality assurance within its ranks. This paper is primarily focused on the quality assurance models operational in Chinese universities, the Big data challenges and the legal framework backing them. The paper also discusses the implementation of the models, the extent to which they meet international standards, and how they adhere to prevailing laws. The degree of success in attaining and maintaining quality and evaluation of quality improvement opportunities are also discussed. Some of the solutions recommended in this study are the participation of more teachers and students in quality management, more emphasis of Higher Education Institution (HEI) quality assurance on self-regulation and a learning-oriented approach and conducting sessions to collect anonymous feedback from students to reward staff with best practices. Some of the Quality Assurance practices/models adopted in Chinese Universities are the Ministry of Education (MOE) reviews; the Academic Degree Committee oversight; Higher Education Evaluation Center (HEEC) overview, University self-evaluation according to HEEC Indicators, and the Webometric Ranking Model.

Abstract:In the latest "Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Comprehensively Improving the Quality of Higher Education" (Jiao Gao [2012] No. 4), the Ministry of Education points out the need to further improve the quality standards system for talent cultivation and formulate and implement national standards for the teaching quality of undergraduate and higher vocational specialties .The goal of talent cultivation in Chinese higher vocational colleges is to cultivate technical personnel who are capable of meeting the needs of frontline production, construction, management, and service. Therefore, in order to improve the teaching quality of higher vocational colleges, it is necessary to establish a teaching quality evaluation system that is in line with the laws and characteristics of higher vocational education. This paper aims to study the construction and innovation of teaching evaluation system under the background of information age based on the development status and existing problems of practical teaching quality of engineering major in higher vocational colleges, and put forward targeted and original suggestions to provide strategic reference for the further development of curriculum teaching quality in higher vocational colleges.

Abstract:This study examines the context and social construction where the evaluation of Chinese universities has been established.It argues that the establishment of university evaluation in China is resulted of the rapid expansion of China's higher education,and embodied of a diversified system inclu-ding evaluation in the aspects of university research,teaching,disciplines and educational programs.It further illustrates that the indicators cited by the university evaluation,however,is decontextualized and fragmented.Strategies of improvement are brought in the end part of the article,for the reference of both the government and peer academicians for a better practice of the"Double First-Class"Con-struction.
