Abstract:Artificial Z-scheme system inspired by the natural photosynthesis in green plants has attracted extensive attention owing to its advantages such as simultaneously wide range light absorption, highly efficient charge separation and strong redox ability. In this paper, we report the synthesis of a novel all-solidstate direct Z-scheme photocatalyst of Ag3PO4/CeO2/TiO2 by depositing Ag3PO4 nanoparticles (NPs) on CeO2/TiO2 hierarchical branched nanowires (BNWs), where the CeO2/TiO2 BNWs act as a novel substrate for the well dispersed nano-size Ag3PO4. The Ag3PO4/CeO2/TiO2 photocatalyst exhibits excellent ability of photocatalytic oxygen evolution from pure water splitting. It is suggested that the Z-scheme charge transfer route between CeO2/TiO2 and Ag3PO4 improves the redox ability. On the other hand, the cascade energy level alignment in CeO2/TiO2 BNWs expedites the spatial charge separation, and hence suppresses photocatalytic backward reaction. However, it is difficult to realize a perfect excitation balance in Ag3PO4/CeO2/TiO2 and the composite still surfers photo-corrosion in photocatalysis reaction. Nevertheless, our results provide an innovative strategy of constructing a Z-scheme system from a type-II heterostructure and a highly efficient oxygen evolution catalyst. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. Ag NPs Modified Plasmonic Z-scheme Photocatalyst Bi4Ti3O12/Ag/Ag3PO4 with Improved Performance for Pollutants Removal under Visible Light Irradiation

Abstract:In a typical Z-scheme photocatalytic system, the visible light responsive component typically plays a crucial role and is often confined to materials sensitive to visible light. In addition, metallic nanodots or quantum dots are used as effective cocatalysts in the construction of plasmonic Z-scheme photocatalysts because of their strong light harvesting capacities under visible light illumination. In the present study, Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets dominated with (001) crystal planes were successfully prepared via a facile molten-salt method, and BTO/Ag/APO composite samples were prepared by a simple precipitation method followed by photoreduction. The obtained BTO/Ag/APO composite exhibits improved photocatalytic activity for the decontamination of two typical organic pollutants, compared to bare Bi4Ti3O12 and Ag3PO4. Based on various characterization techniques, a Z-scheme electron transfer mechanism induced by the plasmonic effect was hypothesized to clarify the enhanced catalytic performances in this system. On the other hand, the LSPR effect of deposited silver nanoparticles can boost the molecular oxygen activation process and generate more superoxide radicals. This study provides a promising approach to apply highly effective photocatalytic degradation for environmental remediation.

Abstract:Rational design of Z-scheme heterojunction is known to be a good strategy for promoting photogenerated charge efficient separation. In this paper, a direct Z-scheme Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 heterostructured microspheres with good interfacial properties were successfully prepared by hydrothermal synthesis-coprecipitation-calcination decomposition. Various techniques such as Transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) were used to reveal the structure, morphology, composition, electrochemical and optical properties of the target product. The catalytic activity of the as-prepared composite was evaluated by visible light degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and transient photocurrent. As expected, the results showed that 1:5 Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 exhibited the optimal catalytic performance. And the visible degradation efficiency is up to 86% in 90 min, which was 2.69 times higher than that of Bi2MoO6 (32%). And 1:5 Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 exhibited the highest photocurrent efficiency (0.8 μA/cm2). Meanwhile, the efficiency of 1:5Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 keep 90% after four cycles. The enhanced activity can be attributed to the formation of a good interfacial contact between Ag2O and Bi2MoO6. In addition, hole and superoxide were identified as the main active species. Eventually a possible direct Z-scheme mechanism was proposed to explain enhanced performance. This work may provide a new perspective for the rational design of excellent Bi2MoO6-based Z-scheme heterojunctions for environmental remediation.

A Novel Z-scheme Ag3VO4/BiVO4 Heterojunction Photocatalyst: Study on the Excellent Photocatalytic Performance and Photocatalytic Mechanism

Abstract:A novel three-dimensional microspheres mediator-free Z-scheme Ag3VO(4)/BiVO4 heterojunction photocatalyst was successfully obtained for the first time. The photocatalytic performance of the as-prepared photocatalyst was systematically examined via the photocatalytic reduction of Cr6+ and oxidation of Bisphenol S under visible light irradiation. Among these samples, 0.24-Ag3VO(4)/BiVO4 exhibits the highest photocatalytic performances, the photocatalytic reduction and oxidation efficiency of 74.9 and 94.8%, respectively, can be achieved. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to the build-in electric field assisted charge transfer between the Ag3VO(4) and BiVO4, and the increasing lifetime of the charge carrier confirmed by the results of time-resolved fluorescence spectra and photoelectrochemical measures. Moreover, based on the results of free radical scavenging activity test, and EPR experiments, it has been verified that the Ag3VO(4)/BiVO4 heterostructures follow a typical Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism rather than conventional type-II heterojunction charge transfer mechanism. Furthermore, the theoretical understanding of the underlying mechanism was also supported, while the energy band structure, and Fermi level were systematically calculated using the density functional theory approach. The results show that a built-in electric field directed from Ag3VO(4) to BiVO4 surface was established as an equalized Fermi level was reached, which benefits the separation of photogenerated charge carriers in the way of a Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism. The strategy to form the three-dimensional microspheres Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst may offer new insight into the Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism for applications in the field of solar energy conversion.

Abstract:Constructing Z-scheme heterojunction to improve the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers of photocatalysts has gained extensive attention. In this work, we fabricated a novel Z-scheme MoO3/Bi2O4 heterojunction photocatalyst by a hydrothermal method. XPS analysis results indicated that strong interaction between MoO3 and Bi2O4 is generated, which contributes to charge transfer and separation of the photogenerated carriers. This was confirmed by photoluminescence (PL) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. The photocatalytic performance of the as-synthesized photocatalysts was evaluated by degrading rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation, showing that 15% MoO3/Bi2O4 (15-MB) composite exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, which is 2 times higher than that of Bi2O4. Besides, the heterojunction photocatalyst can keep good photocatalytic activity and stability after five recycles. Trapping experiments demonstrated that the dominant active radicals in photocatalytic reactions are superoxide radical (•O2−) and holes (h+), indicating that the 15-MB composite is a Z-scheme photocatalyst. Finally, the mechanism of the Z-scheme MoO3/Bi2O4 composite for photo-degrading RhB in aqueous solution is proposed. This work provides a promising strategy for designing Bi-based Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts for highly efficient removal of environmental pollutants.

Abstract:MoS2/Ag3PO4 heterojunction photocatalysts have attracted great attention in dye degradation and water oxidation, in which Z-scheme plays a critical role in the catalytic performance as a result of energy band structure alignment between MoS2 and Ag3PO4. Creating metal sites at composite interfaces as recombination centers of photo-generated electrons from conduction band (CB) of Ag3PO4 and holes from valence band (VB) of MoS2 is an effective strategy to enhance the charge separation efficiency and photocatalytic performance. Strong coupled MoS2/Ag dots/Ag3PO4 ternary heterojunction photocatalysts were fabricated by one-pot precipitation method, in which highly dispersed Ag dots are located at the MoS2/Ag3PO4 interfaces and MoS2 is bonded with PO(4)(3-)in the form of Mo-O-P. The fabricated MoS2/Ag dots/Ag3PO4 photocatalyst presents a 2.8-fold enhancement of photocatalytic activity of water oxidation compared to that of pristine Ag3PO4, which is achieved for the first time. The great enhancement of photocatalytic performance can be ascribed to the improved Z scheme mechanism with strongly coupled MoS2/Ag dots/Ag3PO4 ternary interfaces, in which highly dispersed Ag dots serve as efficient recombination centers resulting in the improved separation of photo-generated holes and electrons of Ag3PO4 as well as photocatalytic activity of oxygen evolution. Synthesis of Ag/AgBr/Bi4O5Br2 Plasmonic Heterojunction Photocatalysts: Elevated Visible‐light Photocatalytic Performance and Z‐scheme Mechanism

Abstract:The novel photocatalysts of Ag/AgBr/Bi4O5Br2 layered microspheres (AAB-LMs) were firstly constructed via the in-situ deposition and visible-light photoreduction approach. Their compositions, structures, morphologies and optical properties were characterized by various techniques. The photocatalytic efficiencies of AAB-LMs-10 were 28 and 3.4 times higher than those of Bi4O5Br2-LMs towards degrading acid orange II and aniline, respectively. The superior photocatalytic behavior of AAB-LMs benefited from efficient separation and transfer of photo-generated charges, which was mainly credited to the surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag nanoparticles and the synthetic interaction among Ag, AgBr and Bi4O5Br2. O-2(-) and h(+) were characterized as the predominant photoactive species in this AAB-LMs-photocatalysis system. Moreover, due to the presence of radical species Br-0, which was verified by the detection of bromoaniline and dibromoaniline during the photocatalytic degradation process of aniline, Z-scheme mechanism rather than the conventional heterojunction mode was more suitable to explain the enhanced photocatalytic performance of AAB-LMs.
Construction of a Novel Ag/Ag3PO4/MIL-68(In)-NH2 Plasmonic Heterojunction Photocatalyst for High-Efficiency Photocatalysis

Abstract:To boost the visible light catalytic performance of typical metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) materials (MIL-68(In)-NH 2 ), a novel stable Z-scheme Ag/Ag 3 PO 4 /MIL-68(In)-NH 2 plasmonic photocatalyst was constructed by electrostatic attraction, co-precipitation reaction, and in-situ photoreduction reaction methods for the first time. The photocatalytic activities of the photocatalysts are systematically explored by the photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) and reduction of Cr(VI) under visible light. Ag/Ag 3 PO 4 /MIL-68(In)-NH 2 displays the best photocatalytic performance among the as-prepared photocatalysts. The rate constant of BPA degradation on Ag/Ag 3 PO 4 /MIL-68(In)-NH 2 is 0.09655 min -1 , which is better than many reported photocatalytic materials. It also achieved a maximum rate constant of 0.02074 min -1 for Cr(VI) reduction. The boosted photocatalytic performance is due to the improved absorption caused by localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), effective interface charge transfer and separation, and more reactive sites provided by the large specific surface area. Besides, the photocatalytic degradation pathway of BPA is concluded according to GC-MS analysis. Finally, a more reasonable Z -scheme mechanism is speculated and verified through a series of characterizations and simulations, such as timeresolved photoluminescence spectroscopy (TRPL), electron spin resonance (ESR), and finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. In-situ green topotactic synthesis of a novel Z-scheme Ag@AgVO3/BiVO4 heterostructure with highly enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity

Abstract:In this work, a novel plasmonic Z-scheme Ag@AgVO3/BiVO4 heterostructure was developed by a topotactic ion exchange-reduction strategy followed with an in-situ growth process. The ternary heterostructure were composed of AgVO3 nanobelts (NBs) loading with BiVO4 nanosheets (NSs) and Ag nanoparticles (NPs), which grew in-situ on the surface of AgVO3 NBs via an topotactic transformation with the assistance of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Besides, PVP can not only realize the recycle of noble metal Ag but also induce a SPR effect in the composite. Experimental results indicated that the Ag@AgVO3/BiVO4 composites displayed an significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation compared to AgVO3, Ag@BiVO4 and AgVO3/BiVO4. The BiVO4 content in the composite played a key role in controlling the morphology and photocatalytic activity of Ag@AgVO3/BiVO4 heterostructure. Among the as-prepared photocatalysts, Ag@AgVO3/BiVO4-0.2 exhibited the highest photocatalytic performance and stability towards the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and disinfection of Escherichia Coli (E. coli). In addition, a possible Z-scheme photocatalytic mechanism was proposed based on the active species trapping experiments, demonstrating that the photogenerated holes (h+) and O2- radicals were the dominating active species. The Z-scheme charge carrier migration mechanism, SPR effect of Ag NPs, large specific surface area combined with the stable heterostructure, resulted in the highly efficient transfer and the separation of photoinduced electrons and holes, which further contributed to the superior photocatalytic activity of Ag@AgVO3/BiVO4. This work is expected to inspire further attempts for the construction of novel Z-scheme photocatalysts with enhanced photocatalytic performances for potential application in the field of energy and environment.

Abstract:Heterojunction formation and morphology control have always been regarded as effective ways to improve the performance of visible-light-driven photocatalysts. In this study, a new facile strategy was applied to synthesize the Z-scheme GO/AgI/Bi2O3 heterojunction, where polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane (KH-570) were used to modulate the morphologies. Methyl orange and tetracycline hydrochloride were chosen as target contaminants to evaluate the photocatalytic properties of samples and the results revealed that 2% GO/AgI/Bi2O3 exhibited the best photocatalytic performance under visible-light irradiation. The enhanced photocatalytic activity can mainly attribute to Z-scheme heterojunction formed by the deposing of AgI and GO as well as the sufficient heterogeneous interfaces resulted from the improved morphology, which have effectively promoted the separation and transfer of electron-hole pairs. To deeply realize the enhanced performance of GO/AgI/Bi2O3 photocatalysts, the reaction kinetics, trapping experiments and photocatalytic mechanism were deduced.

Abstract:Constructing heterojunctions to address effective charge separation and transformation is one of the crucial paths to increasing photocatalytic properties. Here, a novel ternary heterojunction photocatalyst Ag/Ag3PO4/Bi2O2CO3 was synthesized by conventional hydrothermal and chemical precipitation tactics and analyzed with PXRD, SEM, TEM, and XPS respectively. The consequences of the analysis demonstrated that nanoparticles Ag/Ag3PO4 were attached to the surface of the Bi2O2CO3 self-assembled formative nanoflowers. Precursors such as prepared Ag/Ag3PO4/Bi2O2CO3 demonstrated high-efficiency photocatalytic performance and were more reusable than the precursor Ag/Ag3PO4 and Bi2O2CO3 by visible-light-induced methylene blue (MB) photodegradation. The raised photocatalytic property may contribute to the synergistic influence between forming Ag/Ag3PO4/Bi2O2CO3 heterojunction and local surface plasma-resonance effect caused by the Ag precious metal promoting photogenerated charge carries separation efficiency, hindering the electron-hole pair recombination. Moreover, quenching experiments and ESR tests showed that hydroxyl and superoxide radicals played an important role in photodegradation. Finally, a potential photocatalytic mechanism of the Ag/Ag3PO4/Bi2O2CO3 for the electron/hole transfer procedure was proposed.
Rational design of Z-scheme Bi12O17Cl2/plasmonic Ag/anoxic TiO2 composites for efficient visible light photocatalysis

Abstract:An all-solid-state Z-scheme plasmonic Ag-Bi12O17Cl2/TiO2 heterojunction, for the first time, was constructed. The in-situ one-step preparation of Bi12O17Cl2 in the presence of Cl source on the surface of TiO2 fiber, which has not been previously reported, led to the successful coupling Bi12O17Cl2 and TiO2. The Ag particles were selectively anchored on the surface of Bi12O17Cl2 and the interface of Bi12O17Cl2/TiO2. The plasmonic effect and electron-hole bridge at the interfaces were thus separately realized. The Ag-Bi12O17Cl2/TiO2 exhibited greatly increased reaction rate in the removal of azo dye molecules under visible light irradiation, which was 5.4 and 1.4 times higher than that of TiO2 and Bi12O17Cl2, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic performance was ascribed to the increased specific surface area, formed Z-scheme heterojunction, and the plasmonic effect of Ag nanoparticles. This work paves a new way for the rational design of recyclable, efficient Z-scheme photocatalyst for environmental remediation.

Abstract:Ag₃PO₄/sulfur-doped g-C₃N₄ heterojunctions were fabricated by the means of a facile calcination and co-precipitation method. Structural characterization suggested that Ag₃PO₄ was successfully loaded onto sulfur-doped g-C₃N₄. The absorption band edges of sulfur-doped g-C₃N₄ were shifted to the longer wavelength in comparison with bulk g-C₃N₄. The Ag₃PO₄/sulfur-doped g-C₃N₄ heterojunctions manifested substantially higher visible-light photocatalytic performance as compared with Ag₃PO₄/bulk g-C₃N₄. Photoluminescence spectra suggested that the stable Ag₃PO₄/SGCN heterojunctions could effectively address the electron-hole recombination rate, together with remarkably enhancing the photocatalytic activity. The enhancement of light absorption and better dispersion in Ag₃PO₄/sulfur-doped g-C₃N₄ provide more migration channels, together with posing crucial responsibility for the enhanced photocatalytic performance.

Abstract:The transfer rate of photo-generated electrons is a critical factor that determines the photocatalytic efficiency of Z-scheme photocatalytic systems. Here, a novel Z-scheme g-C3N4-AQ-MoO3 photocatalyst with anthraquinone (AQ) serving as an e- transfer channel for hydrogen production was proposed. Its enhanced photocatalytic activity is due to the accelerated transfer of e(-) in the form of charge inside AQ, which also suppresses the recombination of photo-generated e(-) and h(+). In addition, the reduction area is significantly increased by the exfoliation of g-C3N4 into thin layers. Due to the synergistic effect of rapid e(-) transfer and large reduction area, Z-scheme g-C3N4-AQ-MoO3 has a high hydrogen production efficiency that can reach 2018 mu mol/g with the presence of triethanolamine as a hole sacrificial agent after 180 min of simulated sunlight illumination. This work provides a new strategy to design and develop Z-scheme photocatalytic systems with excellent electron migration rates and high charge separation efficiency.
A Novel Z-scheme Bi2MoO6/BiOBr Photocatalyst for Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity under Visible Light Irradiation

Abstract:In this work, BiOBr was firstly prepared by using a facile solvothermal approach at 393 K for 24 h, and then Bi2MoO6 well dispersed on the surface of BiOBr at 433 K for 3 h. The shape, chemical composition, crystal structure, optical property and surface area of Bi2MoO6/BiOBr were investigated by field emission electron microscope (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N-2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The Bi2MoO6/BiOBr heterojunctions exhibited substantially improved performance for removal of methylene blue (MB), compared with BiOBr and Bi2MoO6 samples under 410nm light excitation. The constant K-app of 20% Bi2MoO6/BiOBr is 0.0539 min(-1), which is 4.4 and 6.9 times higher than that of Bi2MoO6 (0.0121 min(-1)) and BiOBr (0.0078 min(-1)). The prominent enhancement of activity is due to the high charge separation capacity, which resulted from the matched band alignment of two components. Finally, the Z-scheme photocatalytic mechanism was confirmed by radical trapping experiment.
Ag3PO4/Bi2WO6 Heterojunction Photocatalyst with Remarkable Visible-Light-Driven Catalytic Activity

Abstract:Novel Ag3PO4/Bi2WO6 catalysts with enhanced visible-light performance were synthesized using a hydrothermal method and characterized to investigate their morphology, microscopic structure, and binding energies. Photoluminescence spectrum (PL) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data demonstrate that the formed Ag3PO4/Bi2WO6 heterojunction effectively promotes hole (h(+))-electron (e(-)) separation and transfer efficiency, resulting in the enhancement of photocatalytic activity. Ag3PO4/Bi2WO6 displays higher photocatalytic activity than pure Bi2WO6 or Ag3PO4 alone. Photogenerated holes (h(+)), <middle dot>O-2(-), and <middle dot>OH were found to be the main active species for the degradation of malachite green (MG), methylene blue (MB), and Rhodamine B (RhB). The DFT calculation explains the photostability of Ag3PO4/Bi2WO6 from the perspective of electronic structure. The bandgap of Ag3PO4/Bi2WO6 between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) is 1.41 eV, compared with that of Ag3PO4 at 0.91 eV and Bi2WO6 at 2.59 eV. Ag-O-Bi hybridization and the wide HOMO-LUMO bandgap lead to difficulty in electron transfer. As a consequence, Ag+ is difficult to obtain electrons and difficult to convert into Ag-0, which makes the catalyst stable.

Abstract:In this work, highly efficient g-C3N4/Bi4O7 heterojunction photocatalysts have been successfully fabricated by a facile method. Compared with the bare photocatalysts, the obtained g-C3N4/Bi4O7 hybrid photocatalysts exhibited efficient degradation activity toward methylene blue (MB), phenol, rhodamine B (RhB), and bisphenol A (BPA) under visible light irradiation. The influences of different g-C3N4 contents on the photocatalytic efficiency of the hybrid photocatalysts have been investigated. The results revealed that the g-C3N4/Bi4O7 with g-C3N4 mass ratio of 30% exhibited the best photocatalytic activity. The activity enhancement should be ascribed to the improved visible light adsorption as well as the effective Z-scheme charge transfer according to the energy band theory. The UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) shows that the absorption edge of g-C3N4 move towards longer wavelength with the increment of Bi4O7 component. The strong connection between g-C3N4 and Bi4O7 was investigated using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Subsequently, the effective Z-scheme charge transfer has also been verified by using transient photocurrent measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Controlled experiments proved that active species of O2- and h+ were produced in the degradation system, which played the major role in the degradation of MB. A possible Z-scheme degradation mechanism over g-C3N4/Bi4O7 hybrid photocatalysts was proposed.

Abstract:A high-efficiency Z-scheme Bi2MoO6/AgI heterojunction was designed and fabricated via in situ growth of AgI on Bi2MoO6. Its photocatalytic activity was investigated with the degradation of malachite green (MG). After 40 min of visible light irradiation, near complete degradation of MG (20 mg/L) occurred when BA11 (Bi2MoO6:AgI = 1:1, 2.0 g/L) was present, while only 29.0% and 49.7% of the MG could be degraded in the presence of Bi2MoO6 and AgI, respectively. The excellent photocatalytic activity of BA11 results from strong visible light absorption and the low recombination efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs induced by the formation of heterojunction. Density function theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the formation of built-in electric field at the interface between Bi2MoO6 and AgI facilitates the effective separation and transfer of photogenerated charge carriers. Results of reuse experiments indicated that the heterostructured photocatalyst has excellent stability. Radical scavenging experiments and electron spin resonance spectra showed that superoxide radicals (O2−) and hydroxyl radicals (OH) were the major reactive oxygen species in the photocatalytic system. The photocatalytic degradation pathway of MG was proposed based on the organic degradation intermediates detected. These findings demonstrate that the mediator-free Z-scheme Bi2MoO6/AgI heterojunction could serve as a promising photocatalyst in photocatalytic treatment of organic pollutants.

Abstract:The Bi-based hierarchical multi-component photocatalytic system is an important player in energy and environmental catalysis due to its full-spectrum light absorption and stable separation of photo-generated charges. In this study, a novel family of iodine doped Bi2O2CO3/Bi2WO6 heterojunctions was successfully developed by a facile ionic liquid assisted solvothermal method. A visible light photocatalytic H2 production rate of 664.5 μmol g−1 h−1 (0.3I-Bi2O2CO3/Bi2WO6 with 3% Pt) has been durably obtained, much higher than those of pristine and undoped counterparts. The photocatalysts are also capable for persistent pollutant and dye degradation. Through electrochemical and spectroscopic tests and density functional theory calculation, the enhanced photocatalytic activity is attributed to formation of the Z-scheme photocatalyst. Therein, the lowered and indirect bandgap and heterojunctional band alignment spontaneously benefit visible light harvesting, electron-hole pair separation, and proton reduction. Besides a facile synthesis for effective photocatalysis, the Z-scheme mechanism is hoped to facilitate the design and realization of similar systems for photocatalytic H2 evolution and organic hazards decontamination.
