Abstract:Finite-time consensus algorithm for multi-agent systems with communication delays is proposed.Based on the theory of finite-time Lyapunov stability and matrix theory,the sufficient conditions which guarantee the multi-agent systems to reach a consensus in finite time are obtained.Moreover,a finite-time consensus protocol is given by appplying the sufficient conditions,the convergence of the system is analyzed,and the settling time for the system to reach a consensus is given.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:In this article, we study the finite-time consensus in probability for stochastic multi-agent systems. First, we give the nonlinear consensus protocol for multi-agent systems with Gaussian white noise, and define the concept of finite-time consensus in probability. Second, we prove that multi-agent systems can achieve the finite-time consensus in probability under five different kinds of communication topologies by using graph theory, stochastic Lyapunov theory and probability theory. Finally, some simulation examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper develops finite-time consensus theory for multi-agent systems and presents the design and analysis results of distributed consensus protocols, which are continuous state feedbacks. Those distributed algorithms are in general form and have their wide range of applications, including fast consensus, saturation control, and network connectivity preserving. By employing the tools of finite-time Lyapunov theory and algebraic graph theory, we present the relaxable interaction-topology conditions that can guarantee the solvability of finite-time consensus problems. Specific examples are given to demonstrate the applications of our theoretical results.

Abstract:Due to the complexity of communication topologies, only a few works addressed the issues of finite-time convergence for multi-agent systems with directed switching topologies, whose analyses might be unclear and some assumptions seem to be a bit strong. In this study, finite-time consensus of continuous-time nonconvex-constrained multi-agent systems with directed dynamically changing topologies is addressed. Firstly, a distributed finite-time consensus algorithm is introduced for continuous-time multi-agent systems. It is proved that agents will achieve consensus in finite time as long as the graphs have a joint spanning tree. Subsequently, we consider a constrained system whose control inputs are subjected to nonconvex sets and give a distributed nonsmooth finite-time consensus algorithm. It is proved that consensus can be achieved in finite time while keeping agents' control inputs staying in the constraint sets. Furthermore, the distributed consensus algorithm is extended to the case with disturbances and the sufficient conditions are given to guarantee the achievement of consensus in finite time. Finally, numerical examples are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of theoretical conclusions.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of finite-time consensus for multi-agent systems with high-order dynamics. Based on the adding a power integrator technique and the neighbor-based rule, a class of distributed high-order finite-time consensus algorithms are explicitly constructed. Under the proposed finite-time control law, it is shown that the states consensus can be achieved in a finite time. An example is employed to verify the efficiency of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper investigates the finite-time consensus problem of multi-agent systems with single and double integrator dynamics, respectively. Some novel nonlinear protocols are constructed for first-order and second-order leader-follower multi-agent systems, respectively. Based on the finite-time control technique, the graph theory and Lyapunov direct method, some theoretical results are proposed to ensure that the states of all the follower agents can converge to its leader agent’s state in finite time. Finally, some simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

Abstract:Finite-time consensus protocol for continuous multi-agent systems with communication constraints is proposed. Based on the theory of finite-time Lyapunov stability and matrix theory, the sufficient conditions which guarantee the multi-agent systems to reach a consensus in finite time are obtained, provided that the undirected network is connected. Moreover, the settling time for the system to reach a consensus is given, it is important to know that the settling time depends on the Lyapunov function, the Laplacian matrix of the undirected graph and the initial state of the system. Simulation results illustrate the correctness of the result.

Abstract:In this paper, finite-time state consensus problems for continuous-time multi-agent systems are discussed, and two distributive protocols, which ensure that the states of agents reach an agreement in a finite time, are presented. By employing the method of finite-time Lyapunov functions, we derive conditions that guarantee the two protocols to solve the finite-time consensus problems respectively. Moreover, one of the two protocols solves the finite-time weighted-average consensus problem and can be successively applied to the systems with switching topology. Upper bounds of convergence times are also established. Simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to investigating the finite-time consensus problem for a multi-agent system in networks with undirected topology. A new class of global continuous time-invariant consensus protocols is constructed for each single-integrator agent dynamics with the aid of Lyapunov functions. In particular, it is shown that the settling time of the proposed new class of finite-time consensus protocols is upper bounded for arbitrary initial conditions. This makes it possible for network consensus problems that the convergence time is designed and estimated offline for a given undirected information flow and a group volume of agents. Finally, a numerical simulation example is presented as a proof of concept.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the problem of finite-time consensus of multiagent systems on a fixed directed interaction graph with a new protocol. Existing finite-time consensus protocols can be divided into two types: 1) continuous and 2) discontinuous, which were studied separately in the past. In this paper, we deal with both continuous and discontinuous protocols simultaneously, and design a centralized switching consensus protocol such that the finite-time consensus can be realized in a fast speed. The switching protocol depends on the range of the initial disagreement of the agents, for which we derive an exact bound to indicate at what time a continuous or a discontinuous protocol should be selected to use. Finally, we provide two numerical examples to illustrate the superiority of the proposed protocol and design method.

Abstract:Based on the algebraic graph theory, the networked multi-agent continuous systems are investigated. Firstly, the digraph (directed graph) represents the topology of a networked system, and then a consensus convergence criterion of system is proposed. Secondly, the issue of stability of multi-agent systems and the consensus convergence problem of information states are all analysed. Furthermore, the consensus equilibrium point of system is proved to be global and asymptotically reach the convex combination of initial states. Finally, two examples are taken to show the effectiveness of the results obtained in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the finite-time consensus problems with globally bounded convergence time also known as fixed-time consensus problems for multi-agent systems subject to directed communication graphs. Two new distributed control strategies are proposed such that leaderless and leader-follower consensus are achieved with convergence time independent on the initial conditions of the agents. Fixed-time formation generation and formation tracking problems are also solved as the generalizations. Simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the new controllers.

Abstract:The consensus problem for the multi-agent system with high-order linear dynamics is considered, where the state information is exchanged under a time-invariant topology. The formulation of a final consensus value is given. Then a fully decentralized consensus algorithm is proposed, which allows each agent to reach the consensus value using only finite number of steps of its past state information. The numerical simulation verifies the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Abstract:The consensus protocol with respect to time-varying jointly-connected topologies entitles multi-agent systems reach consensus under the circumstance with unstable communication. Additionally the protocol ensuring finite-time convergence benefits multi-agent systems in engineering practicability because the cooperative pattern is achievable in finite time. For homogeneous agents without predetermined leaders, this paper provides a decentralized finite-time consensus protocol. The proof based on LaSalle's invariance principle verified that, the protocol makes second-order agents asymptotically converge to an average consensus within finite time, even if the interaction topology among them is time-varying but stepwise jointly-connected. Finally the simulation compares the dynamics characteristics between systems with jointly-connected and disjoint-connected topologies.

Abstract:In consensus protocols of multi-agent system, we can often find state differences between some agents and a reference agent. However, we find that taking the relative states value may not be best. Conversely, using the differences between some agents states and several times state of the reference agent can achieve quickly convergence by choosing a appropriate parameter r. Therefore, in this paper a new consensus protocol taking r times state of reference agent is proposed. Based on this idea, two convergence protocols of single-integrator kinematics are considered, and some sufficient conditions on consensus protocols of double-integrator dynamics are derived. Finally, numerical examples illustrate these theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper deals with finite-time consensus problems for multiagent systems that are subject to hybrid cooperative and antagonistic interactions. Two consensus protocols are constructed by employing the nearest neighbor rule. It is shown that under the presented protocols, the states of all agents can be guaranteed to reach an agreement in a finite time regarding consensus values that are the same in modulus but may not be the same in sign. In particular, the second protocol can enable all agents to reach a finite-time consensus with a settling time that is not dependent upon the initial states of agents. Simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and finite-time convergence of the proposed consensus protocols.

Abstract:This paper investigates the consensus of discrete-time positive multi-agent systems. A framework on the consensus of positive multi-agent systems is constructed. By introducing a finite point and a self-feedback term, a novel consensus protocol is proposed to drive all states to common nonnegative finite values. An improved error model is established for positive multi-agent systems. Based on the consensus error model, the consensus of the agents is transformed into the stability of the error systems. Under the proposed consensus protocol and the new consensus error model, the consensus of agents is realized. A copositive Lyapunov function is chosen to derive the consensus of the multi-agent systems. Such a consensus approach is extended for time-delay multi-agent systems. All positivity and consensus conditions can be solved by virtue of linear programming. The main novelties of this paper lie in that: (i) A novel consensus error model is established, (ii) A finite value consensus is achieved, and (iii) Linear programming-based conditions are presented for the consensus design. Finally, two illustrated examples are given to verify the validity of the theoretical findings.

Abstract:This brief focuses on the dynamic finite-time consensus (FTC) problem of linear multiagent systems (MASs) via distributed intermittent control under directed topology. Firstly, a new neighbor-based intermittent control algorithm is formulated for the MASs, which guarantees all agents can achieve consensus in finite time. Secondly, most of existing works about FTC algorithm is based on the continuous communication. However, in practice, we need to consider the consensus problem under discontinuous communication. Aimed at filling the research gap, the intermittent control FTC algorithm is proposed and results in less communication energy among agents. In addition, it is proved that increasing coupling weight among agents will be an effective method to improve the convergence rate of the considered MASs. Finally, simulation is performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:This paper considers the finite-time consensus problem in multi-agent systems with unidirectional and intermittent links. The interaction topology is indeed directed and time-varying. We propose a simple but effective distributed nonlinear protocol in the form of a continuous state feedback and show that if the union of the interaction topology over a period of time contains a spanning tree periodically, then all agents will reach an agreement on states asymptotically; and if the sum of time intervals, over which the interaction topology contains a spanning tree, is sufficiently large, then all agents will reach an agreement on states in a finite time.

Abstract:Multi-agent systems(MASs) are ubiquitous in natural and artificial systems. This paper aims to establish the finite-time adaptive consensus criterion for a class of MASs with nonlinear dynamics. Traditionally, the finite-time consensus criterion is often established based on the prior information on Lipschitz constants and the eigenvalues of Laplacian matrix. However, it is difficult to acquire the above prior information for most real-world engineering systems. To overcome the above difficulty, this paper develops the finite-time consensus criteria for a class of MASs with nonlinear dynamics via adaptive technique. In detail, we design the finite-time distributed node-based and edge-based adaptive consensus protocols for a class of MASs with fixed and switching topologies. Numerical simulations are also given to validate the proposed finite-time adaptive consensus criterion.
