Abstract:The purpose of this work is to provide applications of real, complex, and functional analysis to moment, interpolation, functional equations, and optimization problems. Firstly, the existence of the unique solution for a two-dimensional full Markov moment problem is characterized on the upper half-plane. The issue of the unknown form of nonnegative polynomials on R×R+ in terms of sums of squares is solved using polynomial approximation by special nonnegative polynomials, which are expressible in terms of sums of squares. The main new element is the proof of Theorem 1, based only on measure theory and on a previous approximation-type result. Secondly, the previous construction of a polynomial solution is completed for an interpolation problem with a finite number of moment conditions, pointing out a method of determining the coefficients of the solution in terms of the given moments. Here, one uses methods of symmetric matrix theory. Thirdly, a functional equation having nontrivial solution (defined implicitly) and a consequence are discussed. Inequalities, the implicit function theorem, and elements of holomorphic functions theory are applied. Fourthly, the constrained optimization of the modulus of some elementary functions of one complex variable is studied. The primary aim of this work is to point out the importance of symmetry in the areas mentioned above.

Abstract:Motivated by new examples of functional Banach spaces over the unit disk, arising as the symbol spaces in the study of random analytic functions, for which the monomials exhibit features of an unconditional basis yet they often don't even form a Schauder basis, we introduce a notion called solid basis for Banach spaces and p-Banach spaces and study its properties. Besides justifying the rich existence of solid bases, we study their relationship with unconditional bases, the weak-star convergence of Taylor polynomials, the problem of a solid span and the curious roles played by c 0 . The two features of this work are as follows: (1) during the process, we are led to revisit the axioms satisfied by a typical Banach space of analytic functions over the unit disk, leading to a notion of (and ), as well as a number of related functorial constructions, which are of independent interests; (2) the main interests of solid basis lie in the case of non-separable (p-)Banach spaces, such as BMOA and the Bloch space instead of VMOA and the little Bloch space.

Abstract:Using the result of the error estimate of the simple extended Newton method established in the present paper for solving abstract inequality systems, we study the error bound property of approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems on Banach spaces with the involved function F being Fréchet differentiable and its derivative F^' satisfying the center-Lipschitz condition (not necessarily the Lipschitz condition) around a point x 0 . Under some mild conditions, we establish results on the existence of the solutions, and the error bound properties for approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems. Applications of these results to finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities on Banach spaces are presented and the error bound properties of approximate solutions of finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities are also established. Our results extend the corresponding results in [ 3 , 18 , 19 ].

Abstract:These are related, because the ideas involved in (1) form one of the main foundations for (2). More precisely, the proof of the Yau conjecture relies on an extension of the partial C estimate to metrics with conic singularities. Gang Tian has made claims to credit for these results. The purpose of this document is to rebut these claims on the grounds of originality, priority and correctness of the mathematical arguments. We acknowledge Tian’s many contributions to this field in the past and, partly for this reason, we have avoided raising our objections publicly over the last 15 months, but it seems now that this is the course we have to take in order to document the facts. In addition, this seems to us the responsible action to take and one we owe to our colleagues, especially those affected by these developments.

Abstract:The moment problem matured from its various special forms in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries to a general class of problems that continues to exert profound influence on the development of analysis and its applications to a wide variety of fields. In particular, the theory of systems and control is no exception, where the applications have historically been to circuit theory, optimal control, robust control, signal processing, spectral estimation, stochastic realization theory and the use of the moments of a probability density. Many of these applications are also still works in progress. In this paper, we consider the generalized moment problem, expressed in terms of a basis of a finite-dimensional subspace P of the Banach space C[a, b] and a Â¿positiveÂ¿ sequences c, but with a new wrinkle inspired by the applications to systems and control. We seek to parameterize solutions which are positive Â¿rationalÂ¿ measures, in a suitably generalized sense. Our parameterization is given in terms of smooth objects. In particular, the desired solution space arises naturally as a manifold which can be shown to be diffeomorphic to a Euclidean space and which is the domain of some canonically defined functions. Moreover, on these spaces one can derive natural convex optimization criteria which characterize solutions to this new class of moment problems.

Abstract:In geometry, there are several challenging problems studying numbers associated to convex bodies. For example, the packing density problem, the kissing number problem, the covering density problem, the packing-covering constant problem, Hadwiger's covering conjecture and Borsuk's partition conjecture. They are fundamental and fascinating problems about the same objects. However, up to now, both the methodology and the technique applied to them are essentially different. Therefore, a common foundation for them has been much expected. By treating problems of these types as functionals defined on the spaces of n-dimensional convex bodies, this paper tries to create such a foundation. In particular, supderivatives for these functionals will be studied.

Abstract:For a given node set Z and the corresponding interpolation conditions, one of the key problems in multivariate Birkhoff interpolation is determining a monomial basis that spans the interpolation space. However, a slight perturbation of the node set will result in a different monomial basis. We propose a more general multivariate Birkhoff interpolation scheme and provide a numerical algorithm that can determine the stable monomial basis to ensure that the interpolation polynomial always exists in the space spanned by the monomial basis for any perturbation of the node set within a given error ε.

Abstract:The properties of the unique nontrivial analytic solution, defined implicitly by a functional equation, are pointed out. This work provides local estimations and global inequalities for the involved solution. The corresponding operatorial equation is studied as well. The second part of the paper is devoted to the full classical moment problem, which is an inverse problem. Two constraints are imposed on the solution. One of them requires the solution to be dominated by a concrete convex operator defined on the positive cone of the domain space. A one-dimensional operator is valued, and a multidimensional scalar moment problem is solved. In both cases, the existence and the uniqueness of the solution are proved. The general idea of the paper is to provide detailed information on solutions which are not expressible in terms of elementary functions.

Equivalent norms and Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems, and their applications

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to develop some methods to investigate equivalent norms and Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems on Lipschitz type spaces of analytic functions and complex-valued harmonic functions. Initially, some characterizations of equivalent norms on Lipschitz type spaces of analytic functions and complex-valued harmonic functions will be given. In particular, we give an answer to an open problem posed by Dyakonov in (Math. Z.249(2005), 597--611). Furthermore, some Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems of complex-valued harmonic functions are established. The obtained results improve and extend the main results in (Acta Math.178(1997),143--167). Additionally, we apply the equivalent norms and Hardy-Littlewood type Theorems to study composition operators between Lipschitz type spaces.

Abstract: According to Sakellaridis, many zeta integrals in the theory of automorphic forms can be produced or explained by appropriate choices of a Schwartz space of test functions on a spherical homogeneous space, which are in turn dictated by the geometry of affine spherical embeddings. We pursue this perspective by developing a local counterpart and try to explicate the functional equations. These constructions are also related to the $L^2$-spectral decomposition of spherical homogeneous spaces in view of the Gelfand-Kostyuchenko method. To justify this viewpoint, we prove the convergence of $p$-adic local zeta integrals under certain premises, work out the case of prehomogeneous vector spaces and re-derive a large portion of Godement-Jacquet theory. Furthermore, we explain the doubling method and show that it fits into the paradigm of $L$-monoids developed by L. Lafforgue, B. C. Ngo et al., by reviewing the constructions of Braverman and Kazhdan (2002). In the global setting, we give certain speculations about global zeta integrals, Poisson formulas and their relation to period integrals.

Abstract:Multivariate Birkhoff interpolation problem has many important applications, such as in finite element method. In this paper two algorithms are given to compute the basis of the minimal interpolation space and the lower interpolation space respectively for an arbitrary given node set and the corresponding interpolation conditions on each node. We can get the monomial basis, Newton-type basis as well as Lagrange-type basis. The interpolation polynomial can be derived from the basis directly.

On the Infinitude of Some Special Kinds of Primes

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to try to establish a generic model for the problem that several multivariable number-theoretic functions represent simultaneously primes for infinitely many integral points. More concretely, we introduced briefly the research background-the history and current situation-from Euclid's second theorem to Green-Tao theorem. We analyzed some equivalent necessary conditions that irreducible univariable polynomials with integral coefficients represent infinitely many primes, found new necessary conditions which perhaps imply that there are only finitely many Fermat primes, obtained an analogy of the Chinese Remainder Theorem, generalized Euler's function, the prime-counting function and Schinzel-Sierpinski's Conjecture and so on. Nevertheless, this is only a beginning and it miles to go. We hope that number theorists consider further it.

Abstract:Using a representation of the unimodular Lorentz group, we derive some relations between hyper Bessel–Clifford, Macdonald and Meijer functions. We obtained them as two additional theorems (continual and countable) for a functional defined on the above group and a pair of basis functions belonging to representation spaces. Introducing a hyper analogue of the known first and second Hankel–Clifford integral transforms and writing the continual addition theorem for a particular case, we obtain a simple formula for the sum of these transforms of Macdonald function.

Abstract:The selection of basis functions is one of the important aspects in the moment method. Proper basis functions may accelerate the speed of convergence and decrease the costs of computer resources. In this paper, a method to construct high-order overlapping basis functions is proposed, and applied to the solution of 2D electromagnetic scattering problems. Compared with the low-order methods, the high-order methods can generate more accurate numerical results, even using larger subdomains. Numerical results show the validity and efficiency of the presented technique.

Abstract:This paper systematically studies Hilbert boundary value problems for hyper monogenic functions on the hyperplane for the solutions being of any integer orders at the infinity, where the negative order cases are new even when restricted to the complex plane context. The explicit solution formulas are given and the solvability conditions are specified. The results are proved through using the Clifford symmetric extension method to reduce Hilbert boundary value problems to Riemann boundary value problems.

Abstract:In the paper, we apply a new scheme to generate nonisospectral integrable hierarchies of evolution equations. First of all, we work out the positive-order and the negative-order nonisospectral AKNS hierarchies. Next we introduce a kind of loop algebra from which an expanding nonisospectral integrable model is derived. Specially, the expanding integrable model reduces to the well-known bond pricing equation and the interest rate modeling. By using the Lie group theory we investigate the Lie representations and characteristic solutions of a generalized bond pricing equation from the positive-order nonisospectral integrable equation, and with the help of the characteristic solutions and the Laplace transformation, we again obtain the fundamental solutions of the generalized bond pricing equation. Besides, we apply the Lie group analysis to deduce the invariant solutions and the nonlinear self-adjointness as well as conservation laws, non-invariant solutions of the generalized bond pricing equation. Some reductions of the negative-order nonisospectral integrable hierarchy are also produced. Two of them are the Sine-Gordan equation and the Sinh-Gordan equation. Finally, we investigate the coverings and the nonlocal symmetries of the generalized bond pricing equation and a generalized KdV equation, respectively, although the bond equation is linear which has many applications in the aspect of finance field, by applying the classical Frobenius theorem and the coordinates of a infinitely-dimensional manifold in the form of Cartesian product.

Abstract:We start by an application the of Krein–Milman theorem to the integral representation of completely monotonic functions. Elements of convex optimization are also mentioned. The paper continues with applications of Hahn–Banach-type theorems and polynomial approximation to obtain recent results on the moment problem on the unbounded closed interval . Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution are pointed out. Operator-valued moment problems and a scalar-valued moment problem are solved.
