Abstract:Relativistic mean-field theory with parameter sets FSUGold and IU-FSU is extended to study the properties of neutron star matter in β equilibrium by including Kaon condensation. The mixed phase of normal baryons and Kaon condensation cannot exist in neutron star matter for the FSUGold model and the IU-FSU model. In addition, it is found that when the optical potential of the K- in normal nuclear matter UK ≳ -100 MeV , the Kaon condensation phase is absent in the inner cores of the neutron stars.

Abstract:Antikaon condensation and kaon and antikaon production in protoneutron stars are investigated in a chiral hadronic model (also referred to as the FST model in this paper). The effects of neutrino trapping on protoneutron stars are analyzed systematically. It is shown that neutrino trapping makes the critical density of K- condensation delay to higher density and (K) over bar (0) condensation not occur. The equation of state (EOS) of (proto)neutron star matter with neutrino trapping is stiffer than that without neutrino trapping, As a result, the maximum masses of (proto)neutron stars with neutrino trapping are larger than those without neutrino trapping. If hyperons are taken into account, antikaon does not form a condensate in (Proto)neutron stars. Meanwhile, the corresponding EOS becomes much softer, and the maximum masses of (proto)neutron stars are smaller than those without hyprons. Finally, our results illustrate that the Q values for K+ and K- production in (proto)neutron stars are not sensitive to neutrino trapping and inclusion of hyperons.

Abstract:A chiral hadronic model is extended to investigate antikaon condensation and hyperons production of protoneutron stars.Our results show that neutrino trapping makes the critical density of K~-condensation delay to higher density and ~0 condensation not occur.Meanwhile,the equation of state(EOS) of(proto)neutron star matter considering neutrino trapping is stiffer than the case without neutrino trapping.Therefore the maximum masses of protoneutron stars with neutrino trapping are larger than those without neutrino trapping.If hyperons are considered,antikaon condensation does not appear in(proto)neutron stars.Meanwhile,the corresponding EOS becomes much softer,and the maximum masses of(proto)neutron stars are smaller than those without hyprons.

Abstract:We study the properties of neutron stars involving antikaon condensation with three different models in the framework of relativistic mean field (RMF) approximation theory: the Glendenning-Moszkowski (GM) model, the Zimanyi-Moszkowski (ZM) model. and the hybrid derivative coupling (HD) model. We take the isovector-scalar (delta-meson) channel interaction into account in our calculations and find that large mass neutron stars with kaon condensation can exist if the kaon optical potential is appropriately weak. The delta-meson channel interaction has a significant influence on the property of neutron stars and the effects are a little different for the three models.

Abstract:We reanalyze the existence of antikaon condensation phase in neutron stars with large mass and high gravitational redshift with not only the Glendenning-Moszkowski (GM) model but also the Zimanyi-Moszkowski (ZM) model in the framework of relativistic mean field (RMF) approximation theory. We find that even in the large mass and high redshift neutron stars, there are still some stiff enough equations of state of neutron star matter so that the pure antikaon condensation phase and the mixed phase of normal baryons and antikaon condensation can exist. By comparing the result given in the GM model and that in the ZM model, we notice that the existence of antikaon condensation phase does not depend on the details of the models.

Abstract:We discuss whether kaon condensation occurs in neutron star matter by using the Zimanyi-Moszkowski model in the relativistic mean-field theory. As a comparison, we also discuss the results from the Boguta-Bodmer model. We show that even though hyperons which may increase the critical condensation density are not included, kaon condensation might not occur in stable neutron stars for the Zimanyi-Moszkowski model. Abstract:K− condensation and quark deconfinement phase transitions in neutron stars are investigated. We use the modified quark-meson coupling model for hadronic phase and the MIT bag model for quark phase. With the equation of state (EOS) solved self-consistently, we discuss the properties of neutron stars. We find that the EOS of pure hadron matter with condensed K− phase should be ruled out by the redshift for star EXO0748-676, while EOS containing unpaired quark matter phase with B1/4 being about 180 MeV could be consistent with both this observation and the best measured mass of star PSR 1913 + 16. But if the recent inferred massive star among Terzan 5 with M > 1.68M⊙ is confirmed, all the present EOSes with condensed phase and deconfined phase would be ruled out.

Abstract:This work investigates the evolution of proto-neutron stars (PNSs) from birth as neutrino-rich objects to maturity as cold-catalyzed neutrino-poor objects with nucleonic and non-nucleonic degrees of freedom. The focus is on the star's core where the nucleons, hyperons, and the $\Delta$-isobars are expected to dissolve into a "soup" of deconfined quarks, at higher baryon densities, to establish a possible hadron-quark phase transition. We separately calculate the nuclear equations of state (EoS) for the hadronic matter (composed of all the baryon octet and $\Delta$-isobars) and the strange quark matter (SQM) under the same thermodynamic conditions characteristic of PNS and proto-strange star (PSS) evolution and construct the hybrid EoS using Maxwell's construction. The study allows us to determine the hadron-quark phase transitions along the evolution lines of the star. We observed a phase transition from hadronic matter to quark matter (QM) phase when the neutrinos have completely escaped from the star's core. The EoSs utilized are constrained to meet the $2\,\rm M_\odot$ threshold in accordance with the observational data.

Abstract:Whether or not the deconfined quark phase exists in neutron star cores is an open question. We use two realistic effective quark models, the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and the modified quark-meson coupling model, to describe the neutron star matter. We show that the modified quark-meson coupling model, which is fixed by reproducing the saturation properties of nuclear matter, can be consistent with the experimental constraints from nuclear collisions. After constructing possible hybrid equations of state (EOSes) with an unpaired or color superconducting quark phase with the assumption of the sharp hadron-quark phase transition, we discuss the observational constraints from neutron stars on the EOSes. It is found that the neutron star with pure quark matter core is unstable and the hadronic phase with hyperons is denied, while hybrid EOSes with a two-flavor color superconducting phase or unpaired quark matter phase are both allowed by the tight and most reliable constraints from two stars Ter 5 I and EXO 0748-676. And the hybrid EOS with an unpaired quark matter phase is allowed even compared with the tightest constraint from the most massive pulsar star PSR J0751+1807.
How the HESS J1731-347 event could be explained using $\bf{K^{-}}$ condensation

Abstract:The recent observation of a compact star with a mass of $M=0.77^{+0.20}_{-0.17}~{\rm M_{\odot}}$ and a radius of $R=10.4^{+0.86}_{-0.78}$ km, located within the supernova remnant HESS J1731-347, has substantially reinforced the evidence for the presence of exotic matter in neutron stars core. This finding has markedly enhanced our comprehension of the equation of state for dense nuclear matter. In the present work, we investigate the possible existence of a kaon condensation in hadronic neutron stars by employing and comparing two theoretical frameworks: the Relativistic Mean Field model with first order kaon condensate and the Momentum-Dependent Interaction model complemented by chiral effective theory. To the best of our knowledge, this represents a first alternative attempt aimed to explain the bulk properties of the specific event with the inclusion of a kaon condensation in dense nuclear matter. The application of two different models enriches the research, providing insights from the aspect of different theoretical frameworks that accurately predict the existence of HESS J1731-347. In both cases significant insights are extracted for the parameter space of both models, emphasizing to those concerning the nucleon-kaon potential, the threshold density for the appearance of a kaon condensation, as well as the parameter $a_{3}m_{s}$ which is related to the strangeness content of the proton. Concluding, the present research indicates that a more systematic investigation of similar events could offer valuable constraints on the properties of dense nuclear matter.

Abstract:Antikaon condensation and deconfinement phase transition in neutron stars are investigated in a chiral hadronic model (also referred as to the FST model) for the hadronic phase and in the MIT bag model for the deconfined quark matter phase. It is shown that the existence of quark matter phase makes antikaon condensation impossible in neutron stars. The properties of neutron stars are sensitive to the bag constant. For the small values of the bag constant, the pure quark matter core appears and hyperons are strongly suppressed in neutron stars, whereas for the large bag constant, the hadron-quark mixed phase exists in the center of neutron stars. The maximum masses of neutron stars with the quark matter phase are lower than those without the quark matter phase; meanwhile, the maximum masses of neutron stars with the quark matter phase increase with the bag constant.

Abstract:The recent observation of the compact star XTE J1814-338 with a mass of $M=1.2^{+0.05}_{-0.05}~{\rm M_{\odot}}$ and a radius of $R=7^{+0.4}_{-0.4}$ km, together with the HESS J1731-347, which has a mass of $M=0.77^{+0.20}_{-0.17}~{\rm M_{\odot}}$ and a radius of $R=10.4^{+0.86}_{-0.78}$ km, they provide evidence for the possible presence of exotic matter in the core of neutron stars and significantly enhance our understanding of the equation of state for the dense nuclear matter. In the present srtudy, we investigate the possible existence of neutral anti-kaons and negative charged kaons in neutron stars by employing the Relativistic Mean Field model with first order kaonic (${K^{-}}$ and ${\bar{K^{0}}}$) condensates. To the best of our knowledge, this represents a first alternative attempt aimed to explain the bulk properties of the XTE J1814-338 object and at the same time the HESS J1731-347 object, using a mixture of kaons condensation in dense nuclear matter. In addition, we compare our analysis approach with the recent observation of PSR J0437-4715 and PSR J1231-1411 pulsars, proposing that to explain all objects simultaneously, it is essential to consider two distinct branches, each corresponding to a different composition of nuclear matter.

Equation of State of Hot Neutron Star Matter using Finite Range Simple Effective Interaction

Abstract:The equation of state of hot neutron star matter of n+p+e+$\mu$ composition in $\beta$-equilibrium is studied for both neutrino-free isothermal and neutrino-trapped isentropic conditions, using the formalism where the thermal evolution is built upon its zero-temperature predictions in a self-consistent manner. The accuracy of the parabolic approximation, often used in the finite temperature calculation of hot neutron star matter, is verified by comparing with the results obtained from the exact evaluation in the neutrino-free neutron star matter. The equation of state of neutrino-trapped isentropic matter at low entropic condition, relevant to the core-collapsing supernovae, is formulated. In the isentropic matter, the particle fractions and equation of state have marginal variance as entropy per particle varies between 1 to 3 (in the unit of k$_B$), but the temperature profile shows marked variation. The isentropes are found to be much less sensitive to the nuclear matter incompressibility, but have a large dependence on the slope parameter L. The bulk properties of the neutron stars predicted by the isentropic equation of state for different entropy are calculated. A model calculation for the early stage evolution of the protoneutron star to neutron star configuration is also given.

Abstract:The Poyakov–Nambu–Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model was developed recently, which includes both the chiral dynamics and (de)confinement effect and gives a good description of lattice QCD data. In this study we use the PNJL model to describe the quark phase, and first use it to study the evolution of proto-neutron star (PNS) with a hadron–quark phase transition. Along the line of a PNS evolution, we take several snapshots of PNS profiles, presenting the fractions of different species, the equations of state (EOS), and the mass–radius relations at different stages. The calculation shows the mixed phase may exist during the whole evolving process, and the onset density of quark phase decreases with the radiation of neutrinos in the heating stage. In the cooling stage, the EOS of the mixed phase softens and the center density increases. In this process a part of nuclear matter transforms to quark matter, which may lead to a PNS collapsing into a black hole.

Abstract:We compute a new equation of state table including Bose-Einstein condensate of $K^{-}$ mesons for core collapse supernova and neutron star merger simulations. Nuclei and interacting nucleons in non-uniform matter is described in an extended version of the nuclear statistical equilibrium model including excluded volume effects whereas the uniform matter at higher densities is treated in the relativistic hadron field theory with density dependent couplings. The equation of state table is generated for a wide range of density ($10^{-12}$ to $\sim 1$ fm$^{-3}$), positive charge fraction (0.01 to 0.60) and temperature (0.1 to 158.48 MeV). The impact of antikaon condensate is investigated on different thermodynamic quantities for example free energy per baryon, entropy per baryon, pressure as well as compositions of matter. Furthermore, critical temperatures of antikaon condensation and the phase diagram of matter are also studied in this article.

Influence of the Isovector-Scalar Channel Interaction on Neutron Star Matter with Hyperons and Antikaon Condensation

Abstract:The relativistic mean field approach including isovector-scalar channel (i.e., exchanging delta mesons) interaction is taken to study the properties of neutron star matter including hyperons and antikaon condensation. For hyperonic neutron stars, it shows that the delta-meson channel interaction stiffens the equation of state at lower densities but it softens the equation of state after hyperons appear. This leads to the neutron star having a lower central density and a larger radius than the one with the same mass but without the delta-meson channel interaction. For neutron star matter including both hyperons and antikaon condensation, the delta-meson channel interaction increases the onset density of the antikaon condensation. At the same time, the stability of the kaonic neutron star and its dependence on the kaon optical potential are discussed. For stable kaonic neutron stars with larger radii, those with the inclusion of the delta-meson channel interaction have larger masses than those without the delta-meson interaction, but the result is reversed for those with smaller radii. Calculated results are also compared with neutron star observations. Constraints on the model parameters are then provided.

Bayesian Inference of dense matter equation of state of neutron star with antikaon condensation

Abstract:In this paper, we employ the Density Dependent Relativistic Hadron (DDRH) field theoretical Model in a Bayesian analysis to investigate the equation of state (EOS) of dense matter featuring antikaon condensation for $K^-$ and $\bar{K}^0$ inside neutron stars. The vector coupling parameters within the kaonic sector are determined through the iso-spin counting rule and quark model. Our study integrates various constraints, including $\chi$EFT calculations, nuclear saturation properties, and astrophysical observations from pulsars PSR J0030+0451 and PSR J0740+66 and from the GW170817 event. We present posterior distributions of model parameters derived from these constraints, enabling us to explore the distributions of nuclear matter properties and neutron star (NS) characteristics such as radii, tidal deformabilities, central energy densities, and speed of sound. The antikaon potential at the 68(90)\% confidence intervals is determined to be $-129.36^{+12.53(+32.617)}_{-3.837(-5.696)}$ MeV. This aligns with several studies providing estimates within the range of $-120$ to $-150$ MeV. We find that the maximum neutron star mass is constrained to around 2M$_\odot$ due to the significant softening of the EOS caused by antikaon condensation. This softening results in a considerable decrease in the speed of sound. Although antikaon condensation for $K^-$ is not feasible inside the canonical neutron stars, it becomes feasible for higher NS masses. The condensation of both $K^-$ and $\bar{K}^0$ is probably present in the interior of neutron star with mass greater than 2M$_\odot$. We also discuss the interconnections among input variables, isoscalar and isovector aspects of the EOS, and specific NS properties in the context of antikaon condensation.

Hybrid Star Properties with NJL and MFTQCD Model: A Bayesian Approach

Abstract:The composition of the core of neutron stars is still under debate. One possibility is that because of the high densities reached in their cores, matter could be deconfined into quark matter. The possible existence of hybrid stars is investigated using microscopic models to describe the different phases of matter. Within these microscopic models we aim at calculating the properties of neutron stars and matter. We want to probe the influence of pQCD calculations and analyze the properties that identify a transition to deconfined matter. A Bayesian approach using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo sampling process is applied to generate 8 sets of equations of state. A Maxwell construction describes the deconfinement transition. For the hadronic phase, we consider a stiff and a soft EOS obtained from the Relativistic Mean Field model with non-linear meson terms. For the quark phase, we use two different models: the NJL model with multiquark interactions and the Mean Field Theory of QCD, similar to the MIT bag model with a vector term. The model parameters were determined by Bayesian inference imposing observations from NICER and the phase transition density range. We have also applied restrictions from the pQCD calculations. Hybrid stars are compatible with current observational data. The restrictions of pQCD reduce the value of the maximum mass. However, even when applying this restriction, the models were able to reach 2.1 to 2.3 solar masses. The conformal limit was not attained at the center of the most massive stars. The vector interactions are essential to describe hybrid stars with a mass above two solar masses. The multiquark interactions affect the limits of some quantities considered as indicators of the presence of a deconfined phase. It is possible to find a set of EOS, that predict that inside NS the renormalized matter trace anomaly is always positive.
