Abstract:Based on the sample data from the 5~(th) censns of China,this paper analyzes the effects of rural-urban migration on the sex ratio at birth in urban regions,and the sex ratio of rural-urban migrants'children in China.The results shows that the sex ratio at birth of the rural-urban migrants appears to be significantly higher than the normal,and so do the sex ratio of the non-migrants in rural or urban areas.Rural-urban migration has significant effects on the sex ratio at birth in urban regions.To some extent,strong son preference among the rural-urban migrants has exacerbated high sex ratio at birth in urban regions.
