Abstract:We study the long-time asymptotic behavior of the focusing Fokas-Lenells (FL) equationuxt+αβ2u−2iαβux−αuxx−iαβ2|u|2ux=0 with generic initial data in a Sobolev space which supports bright soliton solutions. The FL equation is an integrable generalization of the well-known Schrodinger equation, and also linked to the derivative Schrodinger model, but it exhibits several different characteristics from theirs. (i) The Lax pair of the FL equation involves an additional spectral singularity at k=0. (ii) Four stationary phase points will appear during asymptotic analysis, which require a more detailed necessary description to obtain the long-time asymptotics of the focusing FL equation. Based on the Riemann-Hilbert problem for the initial value problem of the focusing FL equation, we show that inside any fixed time-spatial coneC(x1,x2,v1,v2)={(x,t)∈R2|x=x0+vt,x0∈[x1,x2],v∈[v1,v2]}, the long-time asymptotic behavior of the solution u(x,t) for the focusing FL equation can be characterized with an N(I)-soliton on discrete spectrums and a leading order term O(t−1/2) on continuous spectrum up to a residual error order O(t−3/4). The main tool is a ∂‾-generalization of the Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the initial value problem for focusing nonlinear Schrödinger (fNLS) equation with non-generic weighted Sobolev initial data that allows for the presence of high-order discrete spectrum. More precisely, we show how to characterize the properties of the eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients in the presence of high-order poles; Further the initial value problem is formulated into an appropriate enlarged RH problem, which is transformed into a solvable model after a series of deformations. Finally, we obtain the asymptotic expansion of the solution of the fNLS equation in any fixed space-time cone:S(x1,x2,v1,v2):={(x,t)∈R2:x=x0+vt,x0∈[x1,x2], v∈[v1,v2]}. Our result is a verification of the soliton resolution conjecture for the fNLS equation in the solitonic region with the presence of high-order discrete spectrum. The leading order term of this solution includes a high-order pole-soliton whose parameters are affected by soliton-soliton interactions through the cone and soliton-radiation interactions on continuous spectrum. The error term is up to O(t−3/4) which comes from the corresponding ∂¯ equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we use the $\bar{\partial}$ steepest descent method to study the initial value problem for focusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger (fNLS) equation with non-generic weighted Sobolev initial data that allows for the presence of high-order discrete spectrum. Abstract:In this paper, we consider the initial value problem for the complex short pulse equation with a Wadati-Konno-Ichikawa type Lax pair. We show that the solution to the initial value problem has a parametric expression in terms of the solution of 2 x 2-matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem, from which an implicit one-soliton solution is obtained on the discrete spectrum. While on the continuous spectrum we further establish the explicit long-time asymptotic behavior of the non-soliton solution by using Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method. Additionally, the asymptotic stability property for the N-soliton solutions of the defocusing NLS equation sufficiently is obtained.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate some problems about the initial-value problem of the focusing Ablowitz-Ladik system, and the initial data belongs to a discrete weighted $\ell^2$ space. On the one hand, we have proved the global well-posedness for the initial-value problem. Utilizing the fact that the initial data belongs to the discrete weighted $\ell^2$ space, we construct a Riemann-Hilbert problem for the initial-value problem. By Fredholm theory, the Riemann-Hilbert problem is uniquely solved with the jump contour consisting of three circles that all center around the origin. On the other hand, based on the global well-posedness and the Riemann-Hilbert problem, we allow the solution to have the higher-order solitons, and then analyze the long-time asymptotics for the solution in different sectors on the upper-half plane.

Abstract:The solution of the initial value problem (IVP) for the Fokas–Lenells equation (FLE) was constructed in terms of the solution M(x,t,k) of a 2 × 2 matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem (RHP) as k→∞, and the one-soliton solution of the FLE was derived based on this Riemann–Hilbert problem, in Lenells and Fokas (2009). However, in fact, the derivative with respect to x of the solution of the FLE (ux(x,t)) was recovered from the RHP as k→∞. In this paper, we construct the solution of the FLE in terms of the RHP as k→0, because the Lax pair of the FLE contains the negative order of the spectral variable k. We show that the one-soliton solution of the FLE obtained in this paper is the same as Lenells and Fokas (2009), but avoiding a complex integral.

Abstract:The authors study the Cauchy problem for the focusing nonlinear Kundu-Eckhaus (KE for short) equation and construct the long time asymptotic expansion of its solution in fixed space-time cone with C(x1, x2, v1, v2) = (x, t) ∈ ℝ2 : x = x0 + vt, x0 ∈ [x1, x2], v ∈ [v1, v2]. By using the inverse scattering transform, Riemann-Hilbert approach and ∂ steepest descent method, they obtain the lone time asymptotic behavior of the solution, at the same time, they obtain the solitons in the cone compare with the all N-soliton the residual error up to order O(t^-3 4) .

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the existence of global solutions in H3(R)∩H2,1(R) to the Fokas-Lenells (FL) equation on the line when the initial data includes solitons. A key tool in proving this result is a newly modified Darboux transformation, which adds or subtracts a soliton with given spectral and scattering parameters. In this way the inverse scattering transform technique is then applied to establish the global well-posedness of initial value problem with a finite number of solitons based on our previous results on the global well-posedness of the FL equation.

Abstract:The Degasperis-Procesi (DP) equation u_t-u_txx+3κ u_x+4uu_x=3u_x u_xx+uu_xxx, serving as a model delineating the propagation of shallow water waves, stands as a completely integrable system and admits a 3×3 matrix Lax pair. In this manuscript, we study the soliton resolution and large time behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem of the DP equation with generic initial data in Schwarz space. Employing the ∂̅-generalization of the Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method, we deduce different long time asymptotic expansions of the solution u(x,t) in two distinct types of space-time regions. This result verifies the soliton resolution conjecture and asymptotic stability of N-soliton solutions for the DP equation.

Abstract:In this work, we study the Cauchy problem of integrable nonlocal Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equation with rapid attenuation of initial data. The basis Riemann-Hilbert problem of integrable nonlocal Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equation is constructed from Lax pair. Using Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method, the explicit long-time asymptotic formula of integrable nonlocal Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equation is derived. For the integrable nonlocal Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equation, the asymptotic behavior is different from the local model, due to they have different symmetry for the scattering matrix. Besides, since the increase of real stationary phase points also makes the asymptotic behavior have more complex error term which has nine possibilities in our analysis.

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem for the defocusing Schrödinger (NLS) equation with a nonzero backgroundiqt+qxx−2(|q|2−1)q=0,q(x,0)=q0(x),limx→±∞⁡q0(x)=±1. Recently, for the space-time region |x/(2t)|<1 which is a solitonic region without stationary phase points on the jump contour, Cuccagna and Jenkins presented the asymptotic stability of the N-soliton solutions for the NLS equation by using the ∂¯ generalization of the Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method. Their large-time asymptotic expansion takes the form(0.1)q(x,t)=T(∞)−2qsol,N(x,t)+O(t−1), whose leading term is N-soliton and the second term O(t−1) is a residual error from a ∂‾-equation. In this paper, we are interested in the large-time asymptotics in the space-time region |x/(2t)|>1 which is outside the soliton region, but there will be two stationary points appearing on the jump contour R. We found an asymptotic expansion that is different from (0.1)(0.2)q(x,t)=e−iα(∞)(1+t−1/2h(x,t))+O(t−3/4), whose leading term is a nonzero background, the second t−1/2 order term is from the continuous spectrum and the third term O(t−3/4) is a residual error from a ∂‾-equation. The above two asymptotic results (0.1) and (0.2) imply that the region |x/(2t)|<1 considered by Cuccagna and Jenkins is a fast decaying soliton solution region, while the region |x/(2t)|>1 considered by us is a slow decaying nonzero background region.

Abstract:We investigate the long-time asymptotics for the solutions to the Cauchy problem of defocusing modified Kortweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation with finite density initial data. The present paper is the subsequent work of our previous paper [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2108.03650" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.03650">arXiv:2108.03650</a>], which gives the soliton resolution for the defocusing mKdV equation in the central asymptotic sector $\{(x,t): \vert \xi \vert<6\}$ with $\xi:=x/t$. In the present paper, via the Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem associated to the Cauchy problem, the long-time asymptotics in the soliton-less regions $\{(x,t): \vert \xi \vert>6, |\xi|=\mathcal{O}(1)\}$ for the defocusing mKdV equation are further obtained. It is shown that the leading term of the asymptotics are in compatible with the ``background solution'' and the error terms are derived via rigorous analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, we address interesting soliton resolution, asymptotic stability of N-soliton solutions and the Painleve asymptotics for the Kundu-Eckhaus (KE) equation with nonzero boundary conditions iqt+qxx-2( divide q divide 2-1)q+4 beta 2( divide q divide 4-1)q+4i beta divide q divide 2xq=0,q(x,0)=q0(x)similar to +/- 1,x ->+/-infinity.The key to proving these results is to establish the formulation of a Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem associated with the above Cauchy problem and find its connection with the RH problem of the defocusing NLS equation. With the partial differential over bar -steepest descent method and the results of the defocusing NLS equation, we find complete leading order approximation formulas for the defocusing KE equation on the whole (x,t) half-plane including soliton resolution and asymptotic stability of N-soliton solutions in a solitonic region, Zakharov-Shabat asymptotics in a solitonless region and the Painleve asymptotics in two transition regions.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider the long time asymptotic behavior for the initial value problem of the Novikov equation \begin{align} &u_{t}-u_{txx}+4 u_{x}=3uu_xu_{xx}+u^2u_{xxx}, \nonumber &u(x, 0)=u_{0}(x),\nonumber \end{align} where $u_0(x)$ is assumed to decay to a nonzero constant: $u(x)\to\kappa>0$, $x\to\pm\infty$. The study makes crucial use of the inverse scattering transform as well as of the $\overline\partial$ generalization of Deift-Zhou steepest descent method for oscillatory Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problems. Based on the spectral analysis of the Lax pair associated with the Novikov equation and scattering matrix, the solution of the Cauchy problem is characterized via the solution of a RH problem. In different space-time solitonic region of $x/t$, we further compute the different long time asymptotic expansion of the solution $u(x,t)$, which implies soliton resolution conjecture and can be characterized with an $N(\Lambda)$-soliton whose parameters are modulated by a sum of localized soliton-soliton interactions as one moves through the region. And it has diverse residual error order from $\overline\partial$ equation: $\mathcal{O}(t^{-1+2\rho})$ for $\xi=\frac{y}{t}\in(-\infty,-0.125)\cup(1,+\infty)$ and $\mathcal{O}(t^{-3/4})$ for $\xi=\frac{y}{t}\in(-0.125,1)$.
