Abstract:Aims: The aim was to determine the relationship of salt intake with blood pressure, arterial distensibility, and microalbuminuria in Chinese hypertensive patients.Methods and results: We recruited 341 hypertensive patients who were not on antihypertensive treatment. Blood pressure, 24-h urinary sodium, microalbuminuria, and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) were measured in these patients. The patients were divided into three groups based on the 24-h urinary sodium excretion: Group A, low urinary sodium excretion (<100 mmol/24 h); Group B, medium urinary sodium excretion (>= 100 and, 200 mmol/24 h); and Group C, high urinary sodium excretion (>= 200 mmol/24 h). Multivariate linear regression was used to analyse the relationship of 24-h urinary sodium excretion with blood pressure, arterial distensibility, and urine albumin. The 24-h urinary sodium excretion levels in Groups A, B, and C were 78.6 +/- 17.9, 146.7 +/- 26.9, and 254.7 +/- 41.8 mmol/24 h, respectively. The baPWV was significantly higher in Group C than in Group A (1753.5 +/- 303.8 vs. 1604.9 +/- 339.9 cm/s, P = 0.028). In addition, blood pressure and microalbuminuria levels were significantly higher in Group C than in Group A (P < 0.001 and P = 0.008, respectively). Multivariate regression analysis revealed that 24-h urinary sodium excretion was associated with baPWV (P = 0.021) and microalbuminuria (P = 0.027).Conclusion: High salt intake correlated with an increase in blood pressure and urine albumin and a decrease in arterial distensibility in Chinese hypertensive patients.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relevance between the leve l of blood pressure(BP), pulse pressure(PP), pulse pressure index(PPI) and prote inuria in hypertensive patients. Methods All the patients were div ided into three groups by the level of SBP and DBP and divided into four groups by the level of PP and PPI. The level of urine protein and lipid were detected by groups. Results The incidence rate of proteinuria was incre asing with the increase in SBP, DBP, PP and PPI. Conclusion The in cidence rate of proteinuria was related to SBP, DBP as well as PP and PPI. The four components of blood pressure were of analogous extent of importance in the occurrence of proteinuria.

Abstract:High sodium intake plays an important role in the onset and exacerbation of hypertension. However, the relationships between urinary electrolytes excretion and central hemodynamics and between urinary electrolyte excretion and arterial stiffness are still the subject of debate. This study sought to clarify the associations of salt intake with central aortic pressure and arterial stiffness indicators. A total of 431 untreated hypertensive individuals were recruited into the study. Twenty-four-hour urinary samples were collected to measure the excretion of urinary electrolytes. Central hemodynamics parameters and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) were measured. We evaluated the independent relationship between urinary sodium or potassium excretion and the abovementioned indices. The mean 24-h urinary sodium of all subjects was 166.6±70.0 mmol/24 h. With increases in urinary sodium excretion, central blood pressure and baPWV values markedly increased. Multiple regression analysis showed that urinary sodium was independently associated with increases in central systolic blood pressure, central diastolic blood pressure, the augmentation index, and baPWV. Significant correlations were identified between high dietary sodium and central hemodynamics and between high dietary sodium and arterial elasticity. Prospective interventional studies in hypertensive patients may be required to determine the effect of salt intake on central hemodynamics.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the relationship between 24-hour urinary sodium potassium excretion and blood pressure and arterial stiffness in hypertension patients. Methods: 224hypertension patients who didn’t take any antihypertensive medicine were randomly recruited. 24-hour urinary sodium (Na), potassium (K) and sodium potassium ratio (Na/K) were measured and calculated through 24-hour urine specimens. According to the results of 24-hour urinary sodium, patients were divided into three groups, group A (urinary sodium ≤ 100mmol/24 h), group B (urinary sodium >100 and ≤200mmol/24 h), and group C (urinary sodium >200mmol/24 h). All the subjects underwent 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) examination. Results: The urine Na excretion of group A, B, and C was(84.9 ± 12.7)mmol/24 h, (147.0 ± 26.7)mmol/24 h, and(256.1 ± 42.6) mmol/24 h respectively, corresponding to daily salt intake 4.8 g, 8.46 g, 15.14 g. Group C who had the highest salt intake was significantly higher than group A in 24 hours, day, and night blood pressure. Multiple linear regression revealed urinary Na was independently associated with 24 hours, day, and night blood pressure. The baPWV of group A,B,C was (1621.6 ± 288.3)cm/s,(1645.7 ± 301.0)cm/s, and (1741.9 ± 307.0)cm/s respectively, with group C higher than group A and B (P = 0.032,P = 0.046). Multiple linear regression indicated urinary Na and Na/K were independently associated with baPWV (P<0.05), while urinary K was not (Table1). Abstract:Dietary salt intake has significant effects on arterial blood pressure and the development of hypertension. Mechanisms underlying salt-dependent changes in blood pressure remain poorly understood. The goal of the present study was to utilize urine samples from the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH)-Sodium trial and a targeted metabolomic approach to identify associations of urinary metabolites with blood pressure phenotypes on low- or high-sodium intake. We examined urinary levels of metabolites in 103 participants of the DASH-Sodium trial after 30 days on a defined diet containing high sodium (targeting 150 mmol sodium intake per day) or low sodium (50 mmol sodium per day). Systolic or diastolic pressure was 10 or more mmHg higher on the high-sodium intake in 51 of the 103 participants. Targeted chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis was performed in 24-h urine samples for 10 metabolites related to the tricarboxylic acid cycle and 47 amino metabolites. Urinary metabolite levels improved the prediction of classification of blood pressure salt-sensitivity based on race, age and sex. Random forest and generalized linear mixed model analyses identified significant (false discovery rate <0.05) associations between 24 h excretions of β-aminoisobutyric acid, cystine, citrulline, homocysteine and lysine and systolic blood pressure and between cystine and diastolic blood pressure. The differences of 24 h excretion of homocysteine between low- and high-sodium intakes were significantly associated with the differences in diastolic blood pressure. These associations were significant with or without considering demographic factors. Treatment with β-aminoisobutyric acid significantly attenuated high-salt-induced hypertension in Dahl salt-sensitive rats. These findings support the presence of new mechanisms of blood pressure regulation involving metabolic intermediaries.

Abstract:Objective:To probe into the ways to protect kidney function by analysing the relation between blood pressure parameters and kidney function in essential hypertension(EH)subjects.Targets of kidney function include microalbuminuria(MA),transferrin(TRF)and alpha1-microglobulin(α1-MG).Methods:A cross sectional survey was conducted comprising of 240 EH subjects(aged 58～84 (71.00(5.00)) years). The questionnaire contains items on urino--sensitive renal function tests and 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Univariate analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis were applied to discover associated factors of aforementioned targets of kidney function.Results:The finding of the study showed that associated factor of MA was the level of 24 h systolic blood pressure(β=1.135,P<0.001),associated factor of TRF was nocturnal pulse pressure(β=0.117,P<0.001),and associated factor ofα1-MG was nocturnal reduction rate of SBP (β=-0.140,P<0.01).Conclusion:It is different for different blood pressure parameter to kidney function in EH subjects. The important ways to protect kidney function are both to take effective measures to cure of EH and to keep ideal pulse pressure and circadian rhythm of blood pressure.

Abstract:Abstract Background To survey the relationship between salt intake and blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Beijing. Methods A cross-sectional survey was used. Essential hypertensive patients were enrolled and divided into three groups (low, medium, and high salt intake) according to their 24 h urinary sodium excretion, which was used to access the salt intake. Blood pressure was measured through office measurement and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Results A total of 2,241 patients were enrolled with a mean age of 59.5 ± 13.8 years, mean blood pressure of 141.1 ± 18.5/84.6 ± 12.7 mm Hg, and urinary sodium excretion of 163.9 (95% CI 160.3–167.4) mmol [equal to salt intake 9.59 (9.38–9.79) g/d]. There were 1,544 cases from tertiary hospitals and the other 697 cases from community hospitals. Patients from community hospitals took more salt than patients from tertiary hospitals. Patients with high salt intake were younger than patients with low and medium salt intake. There were more males in high salt intake group than in the other two groups. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring showed that patients with high salt intake had higher mean blood pressure not only in daytime, but also at night. The diastolic blood pressure in patients with medium salt intake was higher than that in patients with low salt intake. Conclusions Higher salt intake was associated with higher ambulatory blood pressure in hypertensive patients. More effort should be made to lower salt intake to improve blood pressure control rate.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationships of 24-hour urinary sodium(UNa~+ )with plasma rennin activity(PRA),aldosterone concentration(PAC)and the circadian blood pressure variations in essential hypertensive patients. Methods From January 2010 to December 2014,1284 essential hypertensive patients were enrolled and divided into low(UNa~+ <100mmol,n=362),moderate(UNa~+ 100-200 mmol,n=675)and high urinary sodium groups(UNa~+ >200mmol,n=247). The relationships of 24 h UNa~+ with PRA,PAC and 24 hambulatory blood pressure were analyzed in these 3 groups. Results The mean 24 h UNa~+ was(145±69)mmol,corresponding to salt(8.48±4.04)g. After adjusted for covariates,the levels of PRA in moderate and high sodium group were significantly lower compared with low sodium group[(2.77±0.08),(2.49±0.14)vs(3.34±0.11)μg/(L·h)],and the levels of PAC in high sodium group were lower than that in moderate and low sodium group [(150.2±5.4)vs(161.8±3.2),(175.2±4.4)ng/L;all P<0.05]. The 24 hour mean blood pressure,daytime blood pressure and night-time blood pressure were all significantly higher in high sodium group compared with other two groups.The prevalence of non-dippers was significantly higher in high sodium group than in low sodium group. The value of 24 h UNa~+ were higher in non-dippers and nocturnal hypertension patients than in dippers and non-nocturnal hypertension patients. Conclusion In this study,higher salt intake hypertension patients had lower PRA and PAC levels,higher blood pressure levels,and higher prevalence of non-dippers and nocturnal hypertension.

Abstract:Objectives: To investigate the distribution of plasma renin activity (PRA) and explore the association with blood pressure and urinary salt excretion in patients with essential hypertension. Methods: 489 patients with essential hypertension were recruited, patients were classified as follows: low renin, <0.20ng/ml/h (20% of the sample); medium renin, 0.20 to 2.06 ng/ml/h(60%); or high renin, >2.06ng/ml/h (20%). Recumbent plasma renin, 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), 24 h urinary salt excretion were measured and analysed. Results: 1) Compared with the other groups, the low renin patients were more likely to be female, and slightly older (P < 0.01). 2) Low renin patients had higher non-dippers (P < 0.01). 3) 24 h blood pressure (contains mean SBP, mean DBP and MAP), 24 h urinary salt excretion were all negative correlated with the plasma renin activity (all P < 0.01).Conclusion: Women patients and older patients were more likely to have lower PRA level. The circadian rhythm of blood pressure changes more significantly in low renin patients. In addition, low renin patients had higher blood pressure and 24 h urinary salt excretion.

Abstract:Objective. This study aims to understand the difference in the influence of urinary sodium and potassium excretion on blood pressure in patients of different sexes with hypertension by analyzing the relationship between urinary sodium and potassium excretion and blood pressure. Methods. In this cross-sectional study, 606 hospitalized patients with essential hypertension were recruited from 16 hospitals in the Shanxi Province between June 2018 and December 2019. These patients were grouped by sex, with 368 males and 238 females. Basic information and relevant serum biochemical indexes of patients in the two groups were recorded. The 24-hour urinary sodium and potassium excretion were measured, and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring was performed simultaneously. This was done to analyze and compare the relationship between urinary sodium and urinary potassium excretion and blood pressure in adult hospitalized patients of different sexes with hypertension. Results. The 24-hour urinary sodium excretion in male patients with hypertension was significantly higher than that in female patients ( P < 0.001 ). There was no significant difference in 24-hour urinary potassium excretion between male patients with hypertension and female patients. Spearman correlation analysis showed that 24-hour urinary sodium excretion was positively correlated with 24-hour SBP and nSBP in male patients ( P < 0.05 ), while 24-hour urinary potassium excretion was negatively correlated with 24-hour SBP and nSBP in male patients ( P < 0.05 ). The 24-hour urinary sodium in female patients was significantly positively correlated with 24-hour SBP, 24-hour DBP, SBP, dDBP, nSBP, and nDBP ( P < 0.01 ). The 24-hour urinary potassium was significantly negatively correlated with nSBP ( P < 0.05 ). Multiple stepwise linear regression showed that 24-hour urinary sodium excretion was still significantly positively correlated with 24-hour SBP and nSBP in male patients with hypertension after adjusting for various confounding factors. Conclusion. High urinary sodium and low urinary potassium excretion are closely related to elevated blood pressure in adult patients with hypertension, and there are sex differences.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and urine microalbumin(UMA)level in the elderly with non-diabetic essential hypertension.Methods One hundred elderly cases with essential hypertension were selected from the Department of Geriatrics,the Sixth People's Hospital,Shanghai and divided into two groups,one with UMA less than 30 mg/24h,and the other with UMA equal to or greater than 30 mg/24h.Ambulatory blood pmssure,serum level of creatinine (sCr),UMA and other characteristics were measured for all the subjects studied and compared to find possible relationship between blood pressure and UMA.Results Level of sCr,diastolic blood pressure at night (nDBP),24-hour average blood pressure,average blood pressure at night were all significantly higher in the group with UMA equal to or greater than 30 mg/24h than that with UMA less than 30 mg/24h(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis indieated that both sCr and nDBP were indispensable predictors for high microalbuminuria in patients with essential hypertension.Conclusions Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring,especially blood pressure variation at night,has more important predictive value for severity of renal damage caused by hypertension in the elderly with non-diIlbetic essential hypertension.

Abstract:Objectives: To access the state of salt intake in patients with hypertension in Beijing and analyze the relationship between salt intake and the blood pressure level and hypertensive target organ damage. Methods: This was a cross-section survey. Study subjects were patients with essential hypertension in large hospitals or community hospitals in Beijing. Patients were divided into three groups, that low salt group (urine sodium < 100mmol/d, equal to salt intake < 6 g/d), medium sodium group (urine sodium 100–199mmol/d, equal to salt intake 6–12 g/d) and high salt group (urine sodium > 200mmol/d, equal to salt intake > 12 g/d). We compared the difference of clinic and ambulatory blood pressure level, thickness of IVS and the level of 24hour urine albumin excretion. Results: Total 1651 patients were enrolled in, among them 1195 from large hospitals and the other 456 from community hospitals. Males were 44.5%, mean age was 60.12 years. The mean 24 h urine sodium was 153.2mmol, which was 141.1mmol in large hospitals and 185.0mmol in community hospitals respectively. There were 457 (27.7%)patients in low salt group,817 (49.5%)in medium salt group and 377 (22.8%)in high salt group, their urinary sodium level were 71.8 mmol, 145.2 mmol and 268.9mmol respectively. There were more females (72.6%)in low salt group and more males (61.8%)in high salt group. The diastolic blood pressure was higher in high salt group than that in low or medium salt groups measured in clinics or by ABPM. Patients with high salt intake had higher 24 h albumin excretion and thicker IVS. Conclusion: The mean salt intake was higher than WHO standard in patients with hypertension in Beijing, especially in male and in community hospitals. Patients with high salt intake had higher diastolic blood pressure level and more heart or renal damages.

Abstract:The main objective of this study was to determine baseline salt intake levels in a sample of the adult population of Shandong province and to establish the relationship between urinary sodium excretion and blood pressure. A total of 512 participants were recruited, and all the participants provided complete 24‐hour urine collections. Physical assessment and socioeconomic status of participants were collected at the same time. The mean 24‐hour urinary sodium excretion of all subjects was 228.0 ± 127.5 mmol/24 hours. Estimated salt intake was higher in obese subjects (17.6 ± 8.8 g/d) compared with overweight subjects (15.6 ± 8.0 g/d) and those with a normal BMI (13.9 ± 6.8 g/d). Likewise, urinary sodium excretion of hypertensive participants was dramatically higher than that of non‐hypertensive ones, the equivalent of 18.2 ± 9.1 g/d vs 13.3 ± 6.8 g/d. Urinary sodium was significantly associated with SBP (β = 1.08, P = .018) after adjustment for potential confounders. In summary, we found significantly high levels of salt intake in Shandong Province, particularly in obese and hypertension subjects. It is quite important to improve public education about reducing salt intake to control blood pressure among Shandong people.

Abstract:Objective: As the important effects of sodium intake on blood pressure (BP) and on response to anti-hypertensive medication has been recognized for long times, it has been recommended that dietary sodium intake is restricted in hypertensive patients. However, the relationship between BP and salt is weak in most community studies. Moreover, a study in hypertensive Chinese patients showed that urinary sodium excretion is only related to diastolic BP (DBP) and not to systolic BP (SBP). Therefore, this study was to investigate whether the 24-hour urinary sodium excretion was associated with the ambulatory DBP and not with SBP. Design and Method: This study was composed of 121 patients who underwent coronary angiography or percutaneous coronary intervention. The 24-hour urine collection was usually performed at admission day 3 or 4. At the same admission day the ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) was also performed. Additional ABPM was carried out in the uncontrolled blood pressure situations. Results: The mean serum creatinine was 0.96 ± 0.53, mean 24-hour sodium excretion 128.54 ± 170.76 and mean 24-hour potassium excretion 33.10 ± 13.99. The mean 24 hour urinary sodium/potassium excretion ratio was 3.62 ± 1.70 and mean 24 hour urinary sodium/creatinine excretion ratio 185.79 ± 523.82 and 24-hour micro-albuminuria 48.87 ± 152.57. The mean 24-hour sodium excretion was associated with sleep-SBP, sleep-DBP, sleep-pulse pressure (PP), wake-PP, 24-hour SBP, 24 PP, 24-hour potassium excretion, 24-hour sodium/potassium ratio and 24-hour sodium/creatinine ratio. After adjustment for age, gender, body mass index and urinary potassium excretion, only sleep-SBP was significantly associated with 24-hour urinary sodium excretion. Conclusions: Our study showed that 24-hour urinary sodium excretion was only associated with sleep SBP.

Abstract:Intermediary metabolism, including renal metabolism, is increasingly recognized as an important contributor to the regulation of blood pressure and the development of hypertension, a leading risk factor for disease burden worldwide. Dietary salt intake has significant effects on blood pressure. We test the hypothesis that human blood pressure on low- or high-sodium intake is associated with divergent changes of serum and urinary metabolites. A gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis of 192 serum samples from the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension 2 (DASH2 or DASH-Sodium) trial detected 384 metabolites and identified 116. Serum levels of citraconic acid, 1-monostearin and serotonin were associated with systolic or diastolic blood pressure on low- or high-sodium intake after adjustment for covariates (FDR < 0.05). Serum levels of 2-ketoisocaproic acid, glyceric acid, 1-monostearin, ornithine, and β-aminoisobutyric acid were associated with blood pressure differences between low- and high-sodium intakes (FDR < 0.05). An integrated analysis of 33 amino compounds and tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediates indicated that serum and urinary levels were not significantly correlated (FDR < 0.05) for the majority of these metabolites. Blood pressure appeared to be associated with serum, but not urinary, levels of leucine and cystine and urinary, but not serum, levels of β-aminoisobutyric acid. These novel findings support a role for several serum metabolites and renal handling of metabolites in the regulation of human blood pressure on low- or high-sodium intake.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between albuminuria detection rate and blood pressure level or body weight index (BMI) in patients with essential hypertension in China9s five regions. Method 5021 patients with clearly diagnosed essential hypertension but without diabetes were enrolled in our study. The participants came from five cities of China. Urinary albumin/creatinine ratio was measured in these patients for two times. The relationships between albuminuria and levels of blood pressure and BMI were analysed. Results 1. There wasn9t any difference of the albuminuria incidence between patients less than 60-year-old and equal to or more than 60-year-old. The longer the hypertension exists, the higher the proportion of albuminuria. 2. The incidence of albuminuria associated with blood pressure levels significantly. The higher the blood pressure (BP) level, the more the urine protein excretion. The albuminuria detection rate in patients with normal blood pressure, high normal blood pressure, I, II or III stage hypertension were 26.3%, 27.3%, 28.7%, 31.5% and 40.3% respectively. 3. The incidence of albuminuria was different in patients with uncontrolled BP (BP>=140/90 mm Hg) compared with those with well controlled BP (<140/90 mm Hg) (27.1% vs 30.2%, p<0.05). 4. The incidence of albuminuria was in obese patients compared with those with normal body weight at equal blood pressure level, but the difference wasn9t statistically significant. 5. Patients with albuminuria had more heart, cerebral or renal events than whom without proteinuria. Conclusion The detection rate of proteinuria in hypertensive patients without known diabetes was 28.8% in China, among them the incidence of microalbuminuria was 18.6%, and the incidence of clinical albuminuria was 10.2%. Uncontrolled BP was important risk factor of proteinuria.

Abstract:Download figure Download PowerPoint This study aimed to assess current level of sodium and potassium intake and their associations with blood pressure (BP) using the 24-hour urinary data in a large sample of China. Data from participants aged 18 to 75 years were collected as the baseline survey of Action on Salt China in 2018. Of 5454 adults, 5353 completed 24-hour urine collection. The average sodium, potassium excretion, and sodium-to-potassium molar ratio were 4318.1±1814.1 mg/d (equivalent to 11.0±4.6 g/d of salt), 1573.7±627.1 mg/d, and 5.0±2.1, respectively. After adjusting for potential confounding factors and correcting for regression dilution, each 1000-mg increase in sodium excretion was associated with increased systolic BP (1.32 mm Hg [95% CI, 0.92–1.81]) and diastolic BP (0.34 mm Hg [95% CI, 0.09–0.60]). Each 1000-mg increase in potassium excretion was inversely associated with systolic BP (−3.19 mm Hg [95% CI, −4.38 to −2.20]) and diastolic BP (−1.56 mm Hg [95% CI, −2.29 to −0.90]). Each unit increase in sodium-to-potassium molar ratio was associated with an increase of systolic BP by 1.21 mm Hg (95% CI, 0.91–1.60) and diastolic BP by 0.44 mm Hg (95% CI, 0.24–0.64). The relationships between sodium and BP mostly increase with the rise of BP quantiles. Potassium shows the opposite trend. The current sodium intake in Chinese adults remains high and potassium intake is low. Abstract:Objective: To investigate the relationship between proteinuria and dysglycaemia in patients with essential hypertension. Methods: 10,211 patients with clearly diagnosed essential hypertension and without diabetes were enrolled. The urine routine examination was performed, creatinine concentration was measured and the urine albumin/creatinine ratio was calculated in all these patients. In patients with fasting blood glucose more than 5.6 mmol/L, simple oral glucose tolerance test (only 2 h glucose level after drinking 75 g-glucose-water was measured) were performed. The association of proteinuria and dysglycaemia were analyzed. According to the glucose level, patients were divided into normal glucose group (n=3600), impaired glucose regulation group (fasting glucose ≥5.6 mmol/L and <7. 0 mmol/L and/or oral glucose tolerance test 2 h glucose ≥7.8 mmol/L and <11.0 mmol/L, n=1067) and diabetes group (fasting glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L or oral glucose tolerance test 2 h glucose ≥11.0 mmol/L, n=354), respectively. Results: The mean age of participants was 61.7 years, the mean blood pressure was 141.5/85.1 mmHg. 5121 were male (50.1%) and the other 5091 were female (49.9%). Abnormal albumin/creatinine ratio or morning urine albuminuria more than 20 mg/dL was defined as positive albuminuria. Urine protein more than 0.3 g/L and no WBC or RBC in urine routine examination was defined as clinical proteinuria. The total proteinuria detection rate was 45.5%, which was 44.7%, 43.5% and 53.8%, respectively, in patients with normal glucose group, impaired glucose regulation group and diabetes group. If the threshold value of albuminuria was abnormal albumin/creatinine ratio or morning urine albuminuria more than 50 mg/dL, the total proteinuria detection rate should be 21.3%, which was 15.9%, 20.9% and 33.0%, respectively, in patients with normal glucose group, impaired glucose regulation group and diabetes group. Conclusion: The worse the glucose metabolism abnormality, the more the proportion of proteinuria in patients with essential hypertension.
