However, it is challenging to determine the geometry of velocity layers in complex areas using only the first-arrivals. We propose a joint multiscale deformable layer tomography (MDLT) to use the first arrivals and the reflection traveltimes simultaneously in the velocity inversion. The results of synthetic tests show that the joint MDLT can accurately recover some layered velocity models, with higher stability and accuracy than the first-arrival MDLT.
