Abstract:•A numerical model of TEG for vehicle exhaust waste heat recovery is developed.•Faster acceleration/deceleration leads to faster response of TEG.•Transient response of TEG in deceleration is less significant than acceleration.•Higher road grade increases TEG power and lead to faster transient response.•Frequent change of driving condition may have negative effect on TEG.
