Abstract:In this paper, we prove that the ratio of the modulus of the iterates of two points in an escaping Fatou component could be bounded even if the orbit of the component contains a sequence of annuli whose moduli tend to infinity, and this cannot happen when the maximal modulus of the meromorphic function is uniformly large enough. In this way we extend certain related results for entire functions to meromorphic functions with infinitely many poles.

Abstract:Abstract Let f be a transcendental entire function. The fast escaping set, A ( f ), plays a key role in transcendental dynamics. The quite fast escaping set, Q ( f ), defined by an apparently weaker condition is equal to A ( f ) under certain conditions. Here we introduce Q 2 ( f ) defined by what appears to be an even weaker condition. Using a new regularity condition we show that functions of finite order and positive lower order satisfy Q 2 ( f ) = A ( f ). We also show that the finite composition of such functions satisfies Q 2 ( f ) = A ( f ). Finally, we construct a function for which Q 2 ( f ) ≠ Q ( f ) = A ( f ).

Abstract:We study the different rates of escape of points under iteration by holomorphic self-maps of $\mathbb C^*=\mathbb C\setminus\{ 0\}$ for which both 0 and $\infty$ are essential singularities. Using annular covering lemmas we construct different types of orbits, including fast escaping and arbitrarily slowly escaping orbits to either 0, $\infty$ or both. We also prove several properties about the set of fast escaping points for this class of functions. In particular, we show that there is an uncountable collection of disjoint sets of fast escaping points each of which has the Julia set as its boundary.

Abstract:This paper consists of two parts. The first is to study the existence of a point a at the intersection of the Julia set and the escaping set such that a goes to infinity under iterates along Julia directions or Borel directions. Additionally, we find such points that approximate all Borel directions to escape if the meromorphic functions have positive lower order. We confirm the existence of such slowly escaping points under a weaker growth condition. The second is to study the connection between the Fatou set and argument distribution. In view of the filling disks, we show nonexistence of multiply connected Fatou components if an entire function satisfies a weaker growth condition. We prove that the absence of singular directions implies the nonexistence of large annuli in the Fatou set.

Abstract:Let $f$ be a transcendental entire function and $U$ be a Fatou component of $f$. We show that if $U$ is an escaping wandering domain of $f$, then most boundary points of $U$ (in the sense of harmonic measure) are also escaping. In the other direction we show that if enough boundary points of $U$ are escaping, then $U$ is an escaping Fatou component. Some applications of these results are given; for example, if $I(f)$ is the escaping set of $f$, then $I(f)\cup\{\infty\}$ is connected.

Abstract:Let f(z) be a transcendental meromorphic function. The paper investigates, using the hyperbolic metric, the relation between the forward orbit P(f) of singularities of f(-1) and limit functions of iterations of f in its Fatou components. It is mainly proved, among other things, that for a wandering domain U, all the limit functions of {f(n)\(U)} lie in the derived set of P(f) and that if f(np)\ v --> q (n --> +infinity) for a Fatou component V, then either q is in the derived set of S-p(f) or f(p)(q) = q. As applications of main theorems, some sufficient conditions of the non-existence of wandering domains and Baker domains are given.

Abstract:Bergweiler and Kotus gave sharp upper bounds for the Hausdorff dimension of the escaping set of a meromorphic function in the Eremenko-Lyubich class, in terms of the order of the function and the maximal multiplicity of the poles. We show that these bounds are also sharp in the Speiser class. We apply this method also to construct meromorphic functions in the Speiser class with preassigned dimensions of the Julia set and the escaping set.

Abstract:The study of escape rates for a ball in a dynamical systems has been much studied. Understanding the asymptotic behavior of the escape rate as the radius of the ball tends to zero is an especially subtle problem. In the case of hyperbolic conformal systems this has been addressed by various authors. In this paper we consider a far more general realm of conformal maps where the analysis is correspondingly more complicated. We prove the existence of escape rates and calculate them in the context of countable alphabets, either finite or infinite, uniformly contracting conformal graph directed Markov systems with their special case of conformal countable alphabet iterated function systems. This goal is achieved by developing the appropriate theory of singular perturbations of Perron-Frobenius (transfer) operators associated with countable alphabet subshifts of finite type and Hölder continuous summable potentials. This is the key ingredient for further results about other conformal systems. These include topological Collet-Eckmann multimodal interval maps and rational maps of the Riemann sphere (an equivalent formulation is to be uniformly hyperbolic on periodic points), and also a large class of transcendental meromorphic functions.

Abstract:Let f be a transcendental meromorphic function and let LI be a wandering domain of f. Under some conditions, we prove that a finite limit function of {f(n)} on U is in the derived set of the forward orbit of the set sing (f(-1)) of singularities of the inverse function of f. The existence of {n(k)} such that f(nk)\u tends to infinity is also considered when f is entire. If sing(f(-1)) is bounded, however, we show that {f(n)(z)}(n=0)(infinity) in F(f) does not tend to infinity.

Abstract:In this paper we make a further discussion of a relationship between the number of fixed-points and distribution of singular values along the round annuli centered at the origin of a transcendental meromorphic function. To attain our purpose we first establish a fundamental inequality for the modulus of derivative of a holomorphic covering mapping whose image is an annulus by virtue of the hyperbolic metric. The inequality is of independent significance. We make a simple survey on some domain constants for hyperbolic domains.

Abstract:We discuss the dynamics of semigroups of transcendental entire functions using Fatou-Julia theory and provide a condition for the complete invariance of escaping set and Julia set of transcendental semigroups. Results regarding limit functions and postsingular set are also derived. In addition, classes of hyperbolic and postsingularly bounded transcendental semigroups are given. We also provide certain criterion for non existence of wandering domains of transcendental semigroups.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we prove that for a transcendental meromorphic function f(z) on the complex plane, the inequality T(r, f) < 6N (r, 1/(f2 f(k)−1)) + S(r, f) holds, where k is a positive integer. Moreover, we prove the following normality criterion: Let ℱ be a family of meromorphic functions on a domain D and let k be a positive integer. If for each ℱ ∈ ℱ, all zeros of ℱ are of multiplicity at least k, and f2 f(k) ≠ 1 for z ∈ D, then ℱ is normal in the domain D. At the same time we also show that the condition on multiple zeros of f in the normality criterion is necessary.

Abstract:We study the notion of algebraic tangent cones at singularities of reflexive sheaves. These correspond to extensions of reflexive sheaves across a negative divisor. We show the existence of optimal extensions in a constructive manner, and we prove the uniqueness in a suitable sense. The results here are an algebro-geometric counterpart of our previous study on singularities of Hermitian-Yang-Mills connections.
