Abstract:Contact with dogs or farm animals during the first year of a child’s life is associated with reduced risk for childhood asthma, a study published in JAMA Pediatrics has shown.1 Childhood asthma is increasing, and this is blamed on environmental factors, including tobacco smoke exposure, domestic cat and dog exposure, microbial exposure, and socioeconomic factors.
