Abstract:A silver-catalyzed formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction, with cyclopropanols as a C3 subunit and imines as a two-atom subunit, is developed. The reaction takes place under mild conditions and produces a broad array of polysubstituted pyrroles in medium to high yields. It represents the first example of oxidative radical addition to imines, thus offering a new choice for the direct C-H functionalization of imines.

Abstract:[4 + 1] Cycloaddition of alpha,beta-unsaturated imidoyl cyanide (2-cyano-1-azadienes) with isocyanides in the presence of a catalytic amount of AlCl(3) afforded polysubstituted 2-amino-5-cyanopyrroles in good to excellent yields. In combination with the IBX/TBAB-mediated oxidative Strecker reaction, this important heterocycle is readily synthesized in two steps from simple starting materials.

Abstract:In this work, a palladium-catalyzed [2 + 2 + 1] cyclization of internal alkynes with double isocyanides is described. This facile procedure is efficient for synthesizing various pyrrolo[3,2-c]quinolin-2-amines. The reaction worked well with a broad reaction scope. Abstract:A facile method for the synthesis of 3-iodoimidazo[1,2- a]pyridines has been successfully developed involving an I2O5-mediated iodocyclization cascade of N-(1-arylallyl)pyridin-2-amines with concomitant C═C bond cleavage. Preliminary mechanistic studies reveal that this protocol might undergo an oxidative cyclization/decarboxylation/iodination sequence in which I2O5 is used as both an oxidant and an iodine source. The present protocol has advantages of wide substrate scope, simple operation, and metal-free conditions.

Abstract:The commercially available 3,4,9,10‐perylenetetracarboxylic diimide (PTCDI) acted as a heterogeneous catalyst to catalyze aerobic oxidative synthesis of benzimidazoles, benzothiazoles, and quinoxalines from o‐substituted aniline derivatives and primary amines in high yields with oxygen as the terminal oxidant. The gram scale reaction and reusability (up to six cycles) of the PTCDI catalyst were also successful and would greatly benefit industrial applications.

Abstract:Diastereoselective Pd-catalyzed (3+2) and (4+2) cycloaddition reactions of sulfamidate imine-derived 1-azadienes with zwitterionic N-dipoles derived from 1-tosyl-2-vinylaziridine and 4-vinylbenzoxazinone have been developed. These reactions provide highly functionalized azaspirocycles featuring three contiguous stereocenters. The sulfonyl imine moiety of the cycloadducts can be fully reduced to access valuable β-amino alcohols.

Abstract:A novel type of highly efficient chiral C2-symmetric bipyridine-N,N’-dioxides catalysts to catalyze Michael addition/Cyclization of 5-aminopyrazoles with α,β-unsaturated 2-acyl imidazoles has been developed, affording the corresponding adducts in 85-97% yield with up to 99% enantioselectivity. Remarkably, this protocol exhibits extraordinary advantages in terms of reactivity and enantioselectivity, given the fact that as low as 2.2 mol % of L1 and 2.0 mol % of Ni(OTf)2 can promote the title reaction on gram scale to afford desired product with excellent enantioselectivity.

Abstract:CuI-catalyzed aerobic oxidative synthesis of imidazoheterocycles has been achieved. Four hydrogen atoms were removed in one step. This protocol was compatible with a broad range of functional groups, and it has been also successfully extended to unsaturated ketones, bringing about the formation of alkenyl-substituted imidazoheterocycles, which were difficult to prepare by previous means. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that this reaction was most likely to proceed through a catalytic Ortoleva-King reaction. By using this method, the marketed drug Zolimidine could be prepared with 90% yield on a gram scale from commercially available materials.

Abstract:Dinitrogen heterocycles are among the most important molecular structures, and the synthesis of these types of structures through intermolecular 1,2-diamination of olefins is a direct and efficient method. However, the types of nitrogen sources are mostly derived from ureas or arylamines, and nitrogen sources from aliphatic amines are still limited due to their distinct electronic and steric effects. Herein, we report a palladium-catalyzed aerobic intermolecular 1,2-diamination of conjugated dienes, using ethanediamine and alpha-amino amide derivatives as nitrogen sources respectively, for the synthesis of piperazines and 2-piperazinones in good yields (up to 95%) and with high regio-and chemoselectivities.

Abstract:An efficient and mild synthetic route to the convenient one-pot preparation of polyfunctionalized dihydro-2-oxypyrroles has been developed and catalyzed via glycine amino acid as a natural bio-based and biodegradable catalyst using imin-based four condensation domino reaction of amines, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and formaldehyde via tandem Michael–Mannich cyclocondensation reaction under ambient temperature. The reactions complete in less time, but the products are obtained in outstanding yields. This environmentally friendly method includes the noticeable properties such as bio-based and green catalyst, direct workup without column chromatographic separation, cost-effective, mild and simple synthesis, one-pot procedure and high atom economy.

Abstract:A heterogeneous iridium-complex-catalyzed N-O-cleaving rearrangement/cyclization of 2,3-dihydroisoxazoles with alkenes has been developed. It provides divergent access to multiple substituted pyrrolidines, pyrroles, and carbazoles. The iridium catalyst remains highly catalytic active after seven cycles. The gram-scale synthesis afforded a carbazole with strong bluish-violet fluorescence.

Abstract:An efficient three-component tandem cyclization reaction for the synthesis of highly substituted oxazolidines was achieved through the Pd-0-catalyzed cyclization of buta-2,3-dien-1-ol with aryl iodides and imines. Abstract:An efficient I-2-catalyzed cascade coupling protocol was developed for the synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-a]-quinoxaline and imidazo[1,5-a]quinoxaline derivatives via sp(3) and sp(2) C-H cross-dehydrogenative coupling. A nontoxic, readily available catalyst, I-2, and an oxidant, DMSO, were used in this metal-free process. The target compounds were obtained in good-to-excellent yields with a broad substrate scope.
