Abstract:Objective: The chemical components of essential oil from Magnolia biondii were analyzed by GC-MS. Methods: Essential oil was extracted by steam distillation (SD). The chemical components of essential oil were analyzed by GC-MS. Results: The chemical components in the oil were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed by GC-MS. 63 components were separated and 50 components were identified. The main components were Eucalyptol (28.92%), P-pinene (12.39%), alpha-Terpineol (8.28%). Conclusion: This is the first time to adopt GC-MS to analyze the chemical components of volatile oil of Magnolia biondii, and this study can provide science basis for further research development of Magnolia biondii.

Abstract:Objective:To study the chemical constituents of the essential oils from Magnolia coco.Method:The essential oils were extracted by steam distillation(SD) and supercritical carbon dioxide extraction(SFE),and then the constituents were separated and identified by GC-MS.Result:Fifty six compounds were isolated and identified by SD that composed about 87.46% of the total essential oils;and 25 compounds were isolated and identified by SFE that composed about 95.86% of the total essential oils.Conclusion:The principal constituents of essential oils in M.coco from Guangxi are α-pinene,nerolidol,caryophyllene,germacrene D,bicyclogermacrene,which are very different from the other origin.

Abstract:The essential oil was extracted from the leaf of magnolia grandiflora L by steam distillation and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).The results showed that 45 compounds from 50 peaks which accounted for 90% of total peak area were identified, including (-)-spathulenol, β-elemene, eudesma-4 (14), 11-diene, 1H-benzocycloheptene, 2,4a,5,6,7,8,9,9a-octahydro-3,5,5-trimethyl-9-methylene- , (4aS-cis)- , τ-elemene, α-caryophyllene, cedrenol, isoaromadendrene epoxide, Ledene oxide-(II).The obtained results provided a scientific basis for rational development and utilization of the Magnolia grandiflora L.

Abstract:An optimized temperature-programmed gas chromatography–mass spectrometry system combined with chemometric methods was firstly applied to analyze the volatile components of M. biondii Pamp. A total of 65 components were identified using similarity searches between mass spectra and MS database. This number was extended to 80 components with the help of chemometric techniques. The peak purity of two-way data was controlled by fixed size moving window evolving factor analysis, two dimensional-evolving latent projection graph and three dimensional-evolving latent projection graph. Then the overlapped peak clusters were resolved using heuristic evolving latent projection. The results prove that the reported approach is powerful for the analysis of complex herbal samples.

Abstract:The essential oils from roots, branches, leaves and bark of Magnolia sumatrana var. glauca (Blume) Figlar & Noot and Magnolia hypolampra (Dandy) Figlar were extracted by ultrasonic-assisted extraction and the chemicals were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The major constitutes of M. sumatrana var. glauca were trans-cinnamaldehyde (27.55%), caryophyllene (1.20-10.14%), (+)-bulnesol (9.70%), α-caryophyllene (2.35-6.35%), α-eudesmol (1.08-6.17%). M. hypolampra was characterized by the presence of safrole (0.18-35.01%), (+) cycloisosativene (18.70%), oxirane, hexadecyl- (0.72-12.79%), β-cubebene (1.53-8.90%), (Z)-14-tricosenyl formate (8.65%). This is the first study of the composition of essential oils from the roots, branches and bark of M. sumatrana var. glauca and the roots of M. hypolampra, and some compounds were being described for the first time. Combined with present results and literatures, phytochemicals may be affected by multi-factors such as organs, growing location, and extraction methods, providing more approaches for further exploration of the non-wood resources of forestry species.

Abstract:Gas chromatography — mass spectrometry (GC-MS) coupled with chemometric resolution upon two-dimensional data was employed to analyze the constituents of essential oils of essential oils of Angelica sinensis . Constituents in essential oils of Angelica sinensis root were identified by GC-MS with the help of subwindow factor analysis (SFA) method resolving two-dimensional original data into mass spectra and chromatograms. 76 of 97 separated constituents in essential oil of Angelica sinensis root were identified and quantified, and they account for about 91. 36% of the total content. The results show that ligustilide, butylene phthalide, 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol, carvacrol, alloocimene,2,6,6-trimethylbicyclo-[3,1,1]hept-2-ene are the main constituents in essential oil of Angelica sinensis root.

Abstract:Objective:To study the chemical constituents of volatile oil from leaf and bark in Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.Methods:The chemical compositions of volatile oil of the plant which were obtained by steam distillation with hexane were analyzed by GC-MS equipped with a elastic quartz capillary column OV-1701(30m×250μm×0.25μm).The constituents were identified by their mass spectra.The relative percentage of the oil constituents was calculated from the GC peak areas.Results:There were 43,26,29,31 kinds of chemical constituents in Eucommia ulmoides Oliv female grmplasms and male grmplasms's leaf and bark were separated;29,21,14,18 of which were identified.Conclusion:In this research we found that the volatile oil with insect resistance and medical component,proved that there was notable difference between female grmplasms and male grmplasms and between different organs.

Abstract:Objective:To analyze constituents of volatile oil from Gardenia jasminoides.Methods:The constituents of volatile oil from Gardenia jasminoides was investigated by SPME/GC/MS.Results:32 compounds were separated and identified,which accounted for 81.74% of total volatile oil.Conclusion:The main constituents in the essential oil from Gardenia jasminoides are linalool(27.73%),(Z)-3-hexenyl pentenoate(24.38%),Hexyl tiglate(11.42%)and α-farnesene(5.20%).

Abstract:The essential oils from Magnolia kwangsiensis Figlar & Noot. were obtained using hydrodistillation, and analysed by GC and GC-MS. A total of 31, 27 and 26 constituents were identified in the oils from male flower, female flower and leaf of M. kwangsiensis, and they comprised 99.2, 98.5 and 96.2% of the oils, respectively. Monoterpene hydrocarbons predominated in the oils and accounted for 48.3% of male flower oil, 54.0% of female flower oil and 44.6% of leaf oil. The compositions of flower oils were quite similar but with different content, and were different from those of leaf oil. [GRAPHICS] .

Abstract:The chemical compositions of volatile components from Magnolia biondii Pamp were determined by steam distillation (SD) and headspace solid phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) followed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Fifty-six compounds were identified and the major volatile components were d-camphor (0.18-43.26%), 1,8-cineol (13.23-38.02%), α-terpineol (6.57-12.29%) and α-cadinene (5.53-15.15%). The comparison of the volatile components from M. biondii Pamp harvested in three regions of China was investigated. Also, the comparison of volatile components by SD and HS-SPME methods in term of isolation time, plant-consuming and chemical compositions was discussed as well. The percentages of the volatile components by HS-SPME method were found to be large difference from the corresponding one by SD method. HS-SPME technique was much faster than SD (60 min (HS-SPME)/420 min (SD)). Although the aromatic profiles between HS-SPME and SD methods showed several quantitative differences, HS-SPME may be applied routinely to analyze aromatic and medicinal plants.

Abstract:The essential oil was extracted from Peperomia tetraphylla by steam distillation,and the relative percentage of constituents from the essential oil was determined by normalization method.The chemical constituents separated were identified by GC-MS method.There were 16 components,which accounts for over 98.94% of the total essential oil.The method is reliable,stable and reproducible,and it can be applied to the analysis of chemical constituents in the essential oil extracted from chinese traditional medicine.

Abstract:Objective:To study the chemical constituents of the essential oil from the rhizomes of Bellamcanda chinensis.Method: The essential oil was extracted by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction assay(SFE-CO2),and was separated and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer(GC-MS).The relative content of each component was calculated by area normalization method.Result: Thirty-two compounds were identified,accounted for 93.87%.Conclusion: The major components were tetradecanoic acid,ethyl ester(17.38%),tetradecanoic acid(14.63%),hexadecanoic acid,ethyl ester(11.80%),et al.The study can provide quality control evidence and further exploitation of B.chinensis.

Abstract:Volatile compositions of different parts (stem, branch and root barks) of Cortex magnolia officinalis, cultivated in China, were investigated for the first time by GC-MS with the help of heuristic evolving latent projection (HELP). Identification of components was conducted by similarity matching to NIST mass library but also assisted by comparison of temperature-programmed retention indices (PTRIs) with the data web available. A total of 90, 82 and 76 volatile compounds in the essential oils of the three samples taken from the same batch aforementioned were qualitatively and quantitatively determined, representing 84.03, 83.68 and 83.10% of the total content, respectively. Among the constituents determined, there were 50 components coexisting. Eudesmol and its isomers were shown to be the principal compounds in the studied samples, accounting for 47.66, 36.74 and 36.31%, respectively. The three kinds of isomers (alpha-, beta- and gamma-eudesmol) in houpo volatile oils have been tentatively qualified and quantified simultaneously for the first time. By comparative analysis, significant qualitative and semi-quantitative differences and similarities were observed among the three samples. The results achieved provide a scientific evidence for further exploitation of Magnolia bark and clinical medication.

Abstract:To analyze the chemical composition of the essential oil of Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg, the essential oil was extracted from Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg by steam distillation, and then an analysis was conducted by applying CGC-MS (capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometer). It turned out that 40 peaks were separated by CGC and among them 31 components were identified, accounting for 91 percent of the total essential oil. Further, it was made clear that this essential oil was mainly composed of tetrahydrofuran-5-methoxy-2-phenyl (11.98%), dibutyl phthalate (11.05%), n-hexadecanoic acid(9.90%) etc..

Abstract:An analytical method for Magnolia.was established based on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) and 12 batches of Magnolia.from different sources and/or collection time were analysed.The main components were eucalyptol,linalool,α-terpineol,caryophyllene,α-muurolene,duvatrien and farnesol isomer.There were some differences in constituents and contents among those samples.The chromatogram was transformed into chromatograph fingerprints by two parameters,the chromatographic peak relative retention value α and the area normalization value Ci.Overlapping rate were between 75%-90%,except No.5 and No.6,the first 13 strong peaks and feature fingerprint were obtained from the chromatographic fingerprints,RSD of reproducibility was less than 1.05% and the sample was stable for 48 h.
