Abstract:A moduli algebra A ( V ) of hypersurface singularity ( V , 0) is a finite dimensional C -algebra. In 1982, Mather and Yau proved that two germs of complex analytic hypersurfaces of the same dimension with isolated singularities are biholomorphically equivalent if and only if their moduli algebra are isomorphic. It is a natural question to ask for a necessary and sufficient condition for a complex analytic isolated hypersurface singularity to be quasi-homogeneous in terms of its moduli algebra. In this paper we prove that ( V , 0) admits a quasi-homogeneous structure if and only if its moduli algebra is isomorphic to a finite dimensional nonnegatively graded algebra. In 1983, Yau introduced a finite dimensional Lie algebra L ( V ) to an isolated hypersurface singularity ( V , 0). L ( V ) is defined to be the algebra of derivations of the moduli algebra A ( V ) and is finite dimensional. We prove that ( V , 0) is quasi-homogeneous singularity if (1) L ( V ) is isomorphic to a nonnegatively graded Lie algebra without center, (2) There exists E in L ( V ) of degree zero such that [ E, D i ] = i D i for any D i in L ( V ) of degree i , and (3) For any element a ∈ m - m 2 where m is the maximal ideal of A ( V ), aE is not in degree zero part of L ( V ).

Abstract:We introduce the Hodge moduli algebras and Hodge moduli sequence associated with an isolated hypersurface singularity. These are new subtle invariants of singularities. We propose several characterization conjectures by using of these invariants. We investigate structural properties and numerical invariants of Hodge ideals naturally associated with isolated hypersurface singularities. In particular, we establish that the analytic isomorphisms class of an isolated two dimensional rational hypersurface singularities is determined by the Hodge moduli algebras and Hodge moduli sequence. As a result, we prove that Hodge moduli algebra together with the geometric genus give complete characterization of such singularities. In the proof, we concretely compute the Hodge ideals and the associated Hodge moduli algebras of these singularities.

Abstract:The main purpose of this article is to lay the foundations for a classification of isolated hypersurface singularities in positive characteristic. Although our article is in the spirit of Arnol'd who classified real an complex hypersurfaces in the 1970's with respect to right equivalence, several new phenomena occur in positive characteristic. Already the notion of isolated singularity is different for right resp. contact equivalence over fields of characteristic other than zero. The heart of this paper consists of the study of different notions of non-degeneracy and the associated piecewise filtrations induced by the Newton diagram of a power series f. We introduce the conditions AC and AAC which modify and generalise the conditions A and AA of Arnol'd resp. Wall and which allow the classification with respect to contact equivalence in any characteristic. Using this we deduce normal forms and rather sharp determinacy bounds for f with respect to right and contact equivalence. We apply this to classify hypersurface singularities of low modality in positive characteristic.

Abstract:A germ of normal complex analytical surface is called a Hirzebruch-Jung singularity if it is analytically isomorphic to the germ at the 0-dimensional orbit of an affine toric surface. Two such germs are known to be isomorphic if and only if the toric surfaces corresponding to them are equivariantly isomorphic. We extend this result to higher-dimensional Hirzebruch-Jung singularities, which we define to be the germs analytically isomorphic to the germ at the 0-dimensional orbit of an affine toric variety determined by a lattice and a simplicial cone of maximal dimension. We deduce a normalization algorithm for quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularities.

Abstract:Abstract We prove that if two germs of plane curves ( C , 0) and $$(C',0)$$ ( C ′ , 0 ) with at least one singular branch are equivalent by a (real) smooth diffeomorphism, then C is complex isomorphic to $$C'$$ C ′ or to $$\overline{C'}$$ C ′ ̄ . A similar result was shown by Ephraim for irreducible hypersurfaces before, but his proof is not constructive. Indeed, we show that the complex isomorphism is given by the Taylor series of the diffeomorphism. We also prove an analogous result for the case of non-irreducible hypersurfaces containing an irreducible component that is non-factorable. Moreover, we provide a general overview of the different classifications of plane curve singularities.

Abstract:Two subset germs of Euclidean spaces are called blow-spherically equivalent, if their spherical modifications are homeomorphic and the homeomorphism induces homeomorphic tangent links. Blow-spherical equivalence is stronger than the topological equivalence but weaker than the Lipschitz equivalence. We introduce the thin-thick decomposition of an isolated singularity germ - which happens to be a natural blow-spherical invariant. This decomposition is a generalization of the thin-thick decomposition of normal complex surface singularity germs introduced in [7]

In order to prove these results, we discuss the transversal discriminant of such singularities and how it relates to other algebraic and topological invariants.

Abstract:Definition 0. Let V be a Stein analytic space with x as its only singular point. Let 7r: M -V be a resolution of the singularity of V. We shall denote dim H1(M, 9), 1 < i < n 1 by h(i), and dim Hq(M, UP) for 1 ? p < n, 1 < q < n by hP,q(M). So far as the classification problem is concerned, h (n-i) is one of the most important invariants. In this paper, we shall introduce a bunch of invariants (cf. Definition 2.6, Definition 4.1, and Definition 5.1) which are naturally attached to isolated singularities. These invariants are used to characterize the different notions of sheaves of germs of holomorphic differential forms on analytic spaces. Various formulae which relate all these invariants are proved. We also show how to calculate these invariants explicitly. Our paper is organized as follows. In section 2 we discuss the relationship between three different kinds of sheaves of germs of holomorphic forms introduced by Grauert-Grothendieck, Noether and Ferrari respectively, and the dualizing sheaf on a complex analytic space which admits only isolated singularities. We remark that the torsion sheaf of the sheaf of germs of holomorphic p-forms in the sense of Grauert-Grothendieck was studied by Brieskorn [9], Greuel [48], Kantor [19], Suzuki [38], Vetter [39] and the author [43]. Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex projective variety with only canonical singularities and with trivial canonical bundle. Let $L$ be an ample line bundle on $X$. Assume that the pair $(X,L)$ is the flat limit of a family of smooth polarized Calabi-Yau manifolds. Assume that for each singular point $x \in X$ there exist a Kahler-Einstein Fano manifold $Z$ and a positive integer $q$ dividing $K_Z$ such that $-\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ is very ample and such that the germ $(X,x)$ is locally analytically isomorphic to a neighborhood of the vertex of the blow-down of the zero section of $\frac{1}{q}K_{Z}$. We prove that up to biholomorphism, the unique weak Ricci-flat Kahler metric representing $2\pi c_1(L)$ on $X$ is asymptotic at a polynomial rate near $x$ to the natural Ricci-flat Kahler cone metric on $\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ constructed using the Calabi ansatz. In particular, our result applies if $(X, \mathcal{O}(1))$ is a nodal quintic threefold in $\mathbb{P}^4$. This provides the first known examples of compact Ricci-flat manifolds with non-orbifold isolated conical singularities.

Abstract:We study the hyperbolicity of singular quotients of bounded symmetric domains. We give effective criteria for such quotients to satisfy Green-Griffiths-Lang's conjectures in both analytic and algebraic settings. As an application, we show that Hilbert modular varieties, except for a few possible exceptions, satisfy all expected conjectures.

Abstract:We use classical invariant theory to solve the biholomorphic equivalence problem for two families of plane curve singularities previously considered in the literature. Our calculations motivate an intriguing conjecture that proposes a way of extracting a complete set of invariants of homogeneous plane curve singularities from their moduli algebras.

Abstract:Let V be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin in ℂ n +1 . It is a natural question to ask when V is defined by weighted homogeneous polynomial or homogeneous polynomial up to biholomorphic change of coordinates. In 1971, a beautiful theorem of Saito gives a necessary and sufficient condition for V to be defined by a weighted homogeneous polynomial. For a two-dimensional isolated hypersurface signularity V , Xu and Yau found a coordinate free characterization for V to be defined by a homogeneous polynomial. Recently Lin and Yau gave necessary and sufficient conditions for a 3-dimensional isolated hypersurface singularity with geometric genus bigger than zero to be defined by a homogeneous polynomial. The purpose of this paper is to prove that Lin-Yau’s theorem remains true for singularities with geometric genus equal to zero.
The biholomorphic invariance of essential normality on bounded symmetric domains

Abstract:This paper mainly concerns the biholomorphic invariance of $p$-essential normality of Hilbert modules on bounded symmetric domains. By establishing new integral formulas concerning rational function kernels for the Taylor functional calculus, we prove a biholomorphic invariance result related to the $p$-essential normality. Furthermore, for quotient analytic Hilbert submodules determined by analytic varieties, we develop an algebraic approach to proving that the $p$-essential normality is preserved invariant if the coordinate multipliers are replaced by arbitrary automorphism multipliers. Moreover, the Taylor spectrum of the compression tuple is calculated under a mild condition, which gives a solvability result of the corona problem for quotient submodules. As applications, we extend the recent results on the equivalence between $\infty$-essential normality and hyperrigidity.

Abstract:In this paper we study bilipschitz equivalences of germs of holomorphic foliations in $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$. We prove that the algebraic multiplicity of a singularity is invariant by such equivalences. Moreover, for a large class of singularities, we show that the projective holonomy representation is also a bilipschitz invariant.

Abstract:In two parts, we present a bigness criterion for the cotangent bundle of resolutions of orbifold surfaces of general type. As a corollary, we obtain the \textit{canonical model singularities} (CMS) criterion that can be applied to determine when a birational class of surfaces has smooth representatives with big cotangent bundle and compare it with other known criteria. We then apply this criterion to the problem of finding the minimal degrees $d$ for which the deformation equivalence class of a smooth hypersurface of degree d in $\PP^3$ has a representative with big cotangent bundle; applications to the minimal resolutions of cyclic covers of $\PP^2$ branched along line arrangements in general position are also obtained. The CMS criterion involves invariants of canonical singularities whose values were unknown. In this part of the work, we describe a method of finding these invariants and obtain formulas for $A_n$-singularities. We also use our approach to derive several extension results for symmetric differentials on the complement of the exceptional locus $E$ of the minimal resolution of an $A_n$-singularity; namely, we characterize the precise extent to which the poles along $E$ of symmetric differentials on the complement are milder than logarithmic poles.

Abstract:Let f : (C-n, 0) -> (C, 0) be a germ of a complex analytic function with an isolated critical point at the origin. Let V = {z is an element of C-n : f (z) = 0}. A beautiful theorem of Saito [1971] gives a necessary and sufficient condition for V to be defined by a weighted homogeneous polynomial. It is a natural and important question to characterize (up to a biholomorphic change of coordinates) a homogeneous polynomial with an isolated critical point at the origin. For a two-dimensional isolated hypersurface singularity V, Xu and Yau [1992; 1993] found a coordinate-free characterization for V to be defined by a homogeneous polynomial. Lin and Yau [2004] and Chen, Lin, Yau, and Zuo [2001] gave necessary and sufficient conditions for 3- and 4-dimensional isolated hypersurface singularities with p(g) >= 0 and p(g) > 0, respectively. However, it is quite difficult to generalize their methods to give characterization of homogeneous polynomials. In 2005, Yau formulated the Yau Conjecture 1.1: (1) Let mu and nu be the Milnor number and multiplicity of (V, 0), respectively. Then mu >= (nu - 1)(n), and the equality holds if and only if f is a semihomogeneous function. (2) If f is a quasihomogeneous function, then mu = (nu - 1)(n) if and only if f is a homogeneous polynomial after change of coordinates. In this paper we solve part (1) of Yau Conjecture 1.1 for general n. We introduce a new method, which allows us to solve the part (2) of Yau Conjecture 1.1 for n = 5 and 6. As a result we have shown that for n D 5 or 6, f is a homogeneous polynomial after a biholomorphic change of coordinates if and only if mu = tau = (nu - 1)(n). As a by-product we have also proved Yau Conjecture 1.2 in some special cases.

Abstract:The following pullback problem will be considered. Given a finite holomorphic map germ $\phi : (\mathbb{C}^{n}, 0) \to (\mathbb{C}^{n}, 0)$ and an analytic germ $X$ in the target, if the preimage $Y = \phi^{-1}(X)$, taken with the reduced structure, is smooth, so is $X$. The main aim of this paper is to give an affirmative solution for $X$ being a geometric complete intersection. The case, where $Y$ is not contained in the ramification divisor $Z$ of $\phi$, was established by Ebenfelt-Rothschild (2007) and afterwards by Lebl (2008) and Denkowski (2016). The hypersurface case was achieved by Giraldo-Roeder (2020) and recently by Jelonek (2023).
