Many research on the relationship between cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors has been reported in the past half century. Some influential risk prediction models for coronary heart disease (CHD) have been validated in practice, but their predicted accuracy varies with demographic characteristics and environment influences. In order to reveal major risk factors and their prevalence among CHD patients in Guangzhou in recent years, cross-sectional studies were used here. 1491 patients were selected from the total patients with coronary heart disease admitted in Zhujiang Hospital by cluster sampling. It was found that various risk factors showed different distributions with age between two genders, and some interactions with each other factor existed in CHD patients, such as diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia and blood lipid level. Moreover, hypertension and dyslipidemia might be the most important risk factors causing CHD events in this area for both of them had extremely high prevalence rates in the samples, 80.9% and 65.7% respectively. All the data and results laid a foundation for further study on risk evaluation model of CHD and provided some beneficial clues for the prevention of the disease in this area.
