Abstract:Various methods with different performances have been proposed to recover the signal vector of multiple input-multiple output (MINO) antenna systems over flat fading channels. Through a statistical analysis to the errors at the outputs of some existing detection schemes, such as zero-forcing (ZF) and zero-forcing successive interference canceling (ZF-SIC), we have realized that the erroneous detection result is in a close neighborhood of the correct sequence. With this idea in mind, we can get an initial estimate to the received signal vector employing some existing schemes first, then improve the overall performance by orderly updating one or more symbols within the initial estimate and determining the optimal estimate by comparing the metric used in maximum likelihood detection (MLD). Furthermore, in order to decrease the computational complexity, the search process can be confined within some sensible symbols that have high error probabilities. Simulation results show significant improvements in comparison with ZF and ZF-SIC in terms of BER performance with only a little increase of computational complexity.
