Abstract:To improve the adaptive level of traffic control system, current research status on subarea partition was firstly introduced. Then it was analyzed from the aspects of systematicness, scientificalness and rapidity. Based on the entire traffic signal control system, the internal relation between subarea partition and signal timing algorithm was studied and then the environment of road network, traffic flow and information detection, which they both faced, were determined. The intersection state was divided into four levels according to the saturation degree index: low saturation, middle saturation, quasi-saturation and supersaturation. The optimization objective of each level was determined. According to the consistency of the optimization objective of subarea partition and signal timing, the objective set of subarea partition was brought forward and the priority sequence of the objectives was determined. Moreover, the partition principles and the development ways of correlation degree model and partition algorithm were presented. At last, the framework of dynamic subarea partition was established from three levels, which were strategy, methodology and algorithm. The study in this paper can provide guidance for further development of correlation degree model and subarea partition algorithm.
