We point out the results of [5] is correct, but the proof of its main theorem has a small mistake, we give the proof by quite a different method.

Abstract:In this paper, we address finite-time input-to-state stability (ISS) problem for switched nonlinear systems. We first show the relationship between finite-time ISS and the finite-time ISS-Lyapunov function for switched systems. Then we prove that a switched nonlinear system is finite-time ISS under average dwell-time switching signals if each constituent subsystem is finite-time ISS. Moreover, we analyze the optimal costs for a class of switched finite-time stabilizing systems and for their relaxed differential inclusions, respectively.

Abstract:A switching system always comprises of several subsystems and a rule supervising the switching between the subsystems. A major problem that is often inherent to all dynamical systems is actuator saturation. Saturation is a nonlinear property that nonlinearly maps small input signals to the output, which may affect the system properties and even destroy them. In this study, stability and stabilization of a class of switched stochastic systems with saturation control was investigated. First, the variation parameter method was used to present the integral form of switched stochastic systems. Second, to guarantee that the zero solution is globally exponentially stable in mean square, two sufficient conditions were obtained using direct computation with Gronwall inequality and indirect method with matrix theory, respectively. Further, another simple sufficient condition was obtained for the stability of the systems using the row norm, column norm, and Frobenius norm. Finally, two examples were used to illustrate the preciseness and effectiveness of the results. Moreover, various control designs were observed to stabilize the systems, which differ from the technique of linear matrix inequalities.

Abstract:The paper studies decentralized stabilizability for multi-agent systems with general linear dynamics. The stabilizability problem is formulated in a way that the protocol performance can be evaluated by means of the stabilizability region and the feedback gain. For fixed topology, it is proved that the system is stabilizable if and only if external control inputs are exerted on some indicated agents. The result is further shown to be a prerequisite for subsequent design of the corresponding decentralized external self-feedback control, which is also necessary and sufficient. Based on this, two methods are presented to find the agents under which stabilizability can be reached, and the region of stabilizability is given to evaluate the protocol performance. For switching interaction topology, it is shown that the system is stabilizable even if each of its subsystems is not. Finally, the results are employed to cope with the decentralized set-point formation control problem, for which some necessary and/or sufficient conditions are developed. Numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract:In this paper, a discrete-time switched nonlinear system is proved to have an input-to-state stable (ISS) property under mode-dependent average dwell-time switching signals if each constituent subsystem is ISS. This result is then applied to stabilization of uncertain discrete-time nonlinear systems via an improved switching supervisory control scheme. The states of the closed-loop system are proved to be bounded in the presence of bounded disturbances when the candidate controllers provide ISS properties regarding the estimation errors. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed stabilization method.

Abstract:This paper addresses the stabilisability of multi-agent systems (MASs) under switching topologies. Necessary and/or sufficient conditions are presented in terms of graph topology. These conditions explicitly reveal how the intrinsic dynamics of the agents, the communication topology and the external control input affect stabilisability jointly. With the appropriate selection of some agents to which the external inputs are applied and the suitable design of neighbour-interaction rules via a switching topology, an MAS is proved to be stabilisable even if so is not for each of uncertain subsystem. In addition, a method is proposed to constructively design a switching rule for MASs with norm-bounded time-varying uncertainties. The switching rules designed via this method do not rely on uncertainties, and the switched MAS is quadratically stabilisable via decentralised external self-feedback for all uncertainties. With respect to applications of the stabilisability results, the formation control and the cooperative tracking control are addressed. Numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract:This paper investigates the input-to-state stability (ISS) problems for a class of discrete-time nonlinear switched singular systems (SSSs). Two novel ISS criteria are proposed based on average dwell time (ADT) approach and iterative algorithm of discrete-time systems (IADS). In particular, the following two cases are considered for the underlying systems: the first case is that all the sub-systems are exponentially stable, and the other case is that only a few sub-systems are exponentially stable. The corresponding ISS criteria are obtained to guarantee that the closed-loop systems are input-to-state stable via ADT approach and IADS. We neither construct a specific Lyapunov function for ISS in the proof process of the stability criteria nor design a specific structure of the control inputs. The design deficit of the switching controllers is optimized and the design difficulty of the switching controllers is reduced via the proposed criteria. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the feasibility of the results obtained.

Abstract:In this study, the problem of input-to-state stability (ISS) is systematically investigated for nonlinear systems with stochastic impulses. First, the ISS problem is considered for systems, where impulsive strengths are assumed to be stochastic and impulsive intervals are confined by the average impulsive interval. Then, the ISS problem is analyzed for nonlinear systems with both stochastic impulsive intensity and density. Several different cases are considered, i.e., cases where the impulsive instants are satisfied by a renewal process, Poisson process, semi-Markov chain and Markov chain. An example of coordination of multi-agent systems is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed new stability criteria.

Abstract:SummaryThis summary addresses the input‐to‐state stability (ISS) and integral ISS (iISS) problems of impulsive switched nonlinear time‐delay systems (ISNTDSs) under two asynchronous switching effects. In our investigated systems, impulsive instants and switching instants do not necessarily coincide with each other. Meanwhile, systems switching signals are not simultaneous with the corresponding controllers switching signals, which will induce instability seriously, and cause many difficulties and challenges. By utilizing methods of Lyapunov‐Krasovskii and Lyapunov‐Razumikhin, mode‐dependent average dwell time approach, and mode‐dependent average impulsive interval technique, some stability criteria are presented for ISNTDSs under two asynchronous switching effects. Our proposed results improve the related existing results on the same topic by removing some restrictive conditions and cover some existing results as special cases. Finally, some simulation examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness and advantages of our results.

Abstract:This article is concerned with the stability of switched nonlinear time-delay systems with asynchronous switching. We start by extending the well-known concept of integral input-to-state stability (iISS) to finite-time integral input-to-state stability (FTiISS). It is clear to find that the new concept of FTiISS plays an important role in many branches of engineering and science. Leveraging the Razumikhin-type theorem along with the average dwell time (ADT) and mode-dependent ADT methods, sufficient ISS, iISS, finite-time ISS, and FTiISS criteria for switched nonlinear time-delay systems under asynchronous switching are presented. Our proposed results improve upon the existing results by removing some restrictive conditions, and subsume some existing ones as special cases. Finally, simulation examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and advantages of our results.

Abstract:This technical note considers the problem of input-tostate stability (ISS) for switched nonlinear time-varying systems. First, a sufficient condition is proposed to verify the ISS of nonlinear time-varying systems by using an improved Lyapunov function. Then, the results obtained are extended to study the ISS of switched nonlinear time-varying systems. Three relaxed conditions are given by using the methods of multiple Lyapunov functions, minimum dwell time, and infinite switchings, respectively. Comparing with the existing results, the conditions obtained have two relaxations, i.e., the derivative of Lyapunov functions of subsystems are allowed to be indefinite, and all subsystems are allowed to be unstable in the case of infinite switchings. All results obtained also be used to study the uniformly asymptotic stability (UAS) of systems. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:We are concerned with input-to-state stability (ISS) of randomly switched systems. We provide preliminary results dealing with sufficient conditions for stochastic versions of ISS for randomly switched systems without control inputs, and with the aid of universal formulae we design controllers for ISS-disturbance attenuation when control inputs are present. Two types of switching signals are considered: the first is characterized by a statistically slow-switching condition, and the second by a class of semi-Markov processes.

Abstract:In this paper, the issues regarding the input-to-state stability (ISS) and integral input-to-state stability (iISS) of the stochastic delayed switching systems with Lévy noise and input control (SDSS-LN-IC) are proposed by employing the comparison theorem approach, mode-dependent average dwell time (MDADT) method, delay integral inequality (DII), and Lyapunov-Razumikhin (L-R) technique. Two switching situations, namely, synchronous switching and asynchronous switching, are considered. Applying integral inequalities, sufficient stability conditions in both cases are given. Moreover, the sequences of this paper allow for the coefficients for the upper-bound expectation estimation of the infinitesimal operator to be mode-dependent, regardless of the sign and time-varying function rather than a constant, as is the case in certain existing results, which manifests the condition of the Lyapunov-Razumikhin technique in this paper is looser and less conservative. Finally, the validity and correctness of the theoretical results are verified by two examples and some simulations.

Abstract:Input-to-state stability (ISS) analysis and stabilization are concerned in this paper for switched nonlinear positive systems (SNPS), where the deterministic and random switching are both included. For general SNPS, switched affine nonlinear positive systems (SANPS) and switched linear positive systems (SLPS) with deterministic and some kinds of random ”slow” switching, some criterions on ISS are provided. From the criterions for SANPS and SLPS, the ISS properties can be judged just by the differential, algebraic and switching characteristics of the systems. Further, based on the criterions for SANPS and SLPS, some state feedback controllers are designed such that the closed-loop systems be positive, ISS or ISS in some stochastic senses. Four simulation examples verify the validity of our results.

By using the probability analysis method, the almost surely globally asymptotical stability and almost surely exponential stability are investigated for switched systems with semi-Markovian switching, Markovian switching, and renewal process switching signals, respectively. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results, in which an example of consensus of multiagent systems with nonlinear dynamics is taken into account.

Abstract:A multi-dimensional switched system or multi-mode multi-dimensional (M3D) system extends the classic switched system by allowing different subsystem dimensions. The stability problem of the M3D system, whose state transitions at switching instants can be discontinuous due to the dimension-varying feature, is studied. The discontinuous state transition is formulated by an affine map that captures both the dimension variations and the state impulses, with no extra constraint imposed. In the presence of unstable subsystems, the general criteria featuring a series of Lyapunov-like conditions for the practical and asymptotic stability properties of the M3D system are provided under the proposed slow/fast transition-dependent average dwell time framework. Then, by considering linear subsystems, we propose a class of parametric multiple Lyapunov functions to verify the obtained Lyapunov-like stability conditions and explicitly reveal a connection between the practical/asymptotic stability property and the non-vanishing/vanishing property of the impulsive effects in the state transition process. Further, the obtained stability results for the M3D system are applied to the consensus problem of the open multi-agent system (MAS), whose network topology can be switching and size-varying due to the migrations of agents. It shows that through a proper transformation, the seeking of the (practical) consensus performance of the open MAS with disconnected digraphs boils down to that of the (practical) stability property of an M3D system with unstable subsystems.

Abstract:The formation and tracking problem for distribute sampled multi-agent systems under fixed and switching topologies is investigated. Firstly, the stability of the system without inputs is analyzed. Then, an algorithm is proposed under fixed and switching topologies respectively, and the sufficient and necessary conditions are presented to determine the campling interval of maitaining the stability of the system. Finally, some simulations illustrate the effictiveness of the proposed algorithms.

Abstract:Dear Editor, This letter studies the input-to-state stability (ISS) for a class of impulsive switched systems, where uncertain impulse-switching moments are involved. The robustness of ISS with respect to the perturbations of the occurrence time of impulse-switching moments is revealed by several less conservative dwell-time conditions for the uncertain impulse-switching moments combined with Lyapunov conditions. Moreover, the Lyapunov conditions have multiple coefficients at discrete time so as to handle the hybrid effect of impulseswitching moments, and the case that time derivative of Lyapunov function is indefinite is also taken into account. Finally, a numerical example is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.
