Abstract:This study focuses on the solvability and Hyers–Ulam stability of a particular class of fractional Langevin equations with two fractional orders. Utilizing the Mittag–Leffler functions, we present a representation of the general solution for the problem. Our approach offers significant technical advantages compared to existing literature. Furthermore, we furnish illustrative examples, employing specific parameters, to showcase the existence of a unique solution and its Hyers–Ulam stability even under less restrictive conditions.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:In this work, we deal with a more general form of fractional Langevin equation. The equation's nonlinearity term f is relevant to fractional integral and fractional derivative. By using the fixed point theorems, we study the existence and uniqueness of solutions of initial value problem for the nonlinear fractional Langevin equation and obtain some new results. Further, by using the technique of nonlinear functional analysis, we study the stability of Ulam-Hyers, Ulam-Hyers-Rassias and semi-Ulam-Hyers-Rassias for the initial value problem of nonlinear Langevin equation. Finally, some examples are given to show the effectiveness of theoretical results.

Abstract:The paper examines the solvability and stability of a particular set of fractional Langevin equations under anti-periodic boundary conditions. Utilizing the Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem, the Banach contraction mapping theorem, and properties of the Mittag-Leffler function, we establish less stringent criteria for the existence and uniqueness of solutions compared to previous findings in the literature. Furthermore, we present illustrative examples with specific parameters that highlight the reduced conditions necessary for ensuring the existence of a unique solution.

Abstract:Fractional Langevin system has great advantages in describing the random motion of Brownian particles in complex viscous fluid. This manuscript deals with a delayed nonlinear fractional Langevin system with nonsingular exponential kernel. Based on the fixed point theory, some sufficient criteria for the existence and uniqueness of solution are established. We also prove that this system is UH- and UHR-stable attributed to the nonlinear analysis and inequality techniques. As applications, we provide some examples and simulations to illustrate the availability of main findings.

Abstract:This paper offers a comprehensive analysis of solution representations for π -fractional partial differential equations, specifically focusing on the linear case of the Darboux problem. We exhibit a representation of the solutions for the Darboux problem of π -fractional partial differential equations in the linear case in the space of continuous functions. Through the application of the generalized Gronwall inequality, we establish the Ulam–Hyers–Rassias Mittag–Leffler stability in the space of continuous functions. Three numerical examples are presented to show the effectiveness and the applicability of our results.

Abstract:Mittag–Leffler stability is a property of fractional-order dynamical systems, also called fractional Lyapunov stability, requiring the evolution of the positive-definite functions to be Mittag–Leffler, rather than the exponential meaning in Lyapunov stability theory. Similarly, fractional Lyapunov function plays an important role in the study of Mittag–Leffler stability. The aim of this study is to create closed-loop systems for commensurate fractional-order non-linear systems (FONSs) with Mittag–Leffler stability. We extend the classical backstepping to fractional-order backstepping for stabilising (uncertain) FONSs. For this purpose, several conditions of control fractional Lyapunov functions for FONSs are investigated in terms of Mittag–Leffler stability. Within this framework, (uncertain) FONSs Mittag–Leffler stabilisation is solved via fractional-order backstepping and the global convergence of closed-loop systems is guaranteed. Finally, the efficiency and applicability of the proposed fractional-order backstepping are demonstrated in several examples.
Mittag--Leffler stability of numerical solutions to time fractional ODEs

Abstract:The asymptotic stable region and long-time decay rate of solutions to linear homogeneous Caputo time fractional ordinary differential equations (F-ODEs) are known to be completely determined by the eigenvalues of the coefficient matrix. Very different from the exponential decay of solutions to classical ODEs, solutions of F-ODEs decay only polynomially, leading to the so-called Mittag-Leffler stability, which was already extended to semi-linear F-ODEs with small perturbations. This work is mainly devoted to the qualitative analysis of the long-time behavior of numerical solutions. By applying the singularity analysis of generating functions developed by Flajolet and Odlyzko (SIAM J. Disc. Math. 3 (1990), 216-240), we are able to prove that both $\mathcal{L}$1 scheme and strong $A$-stable fractional linear multistep methods (F-LMMs) can preserve the numerical Mittag-Leffler stability for linear homogeneous F-ODEs exactly as in the continuous case. Through an improved estimate of the discrete fractional resolvent operator, we show that strong $A$-stable F-LMMs are also Mittag-Leffler stable for semi-linear F-ODEs under small perturbations. For the numerical schemes based on $\alpha$-difference approximation to Caputo derivative, we establish the Mittag-Leffler stability for semi-linear problems by making use of properties of the Poisson transformation and the decay rate of the continuous fractional resolvent operator. Numerical experiments are presented for several typical time fractional evolutional equations, including time fractional sub-diffusion equations, fractional linear system and semi-linear F-ODEs. All the numerical results exhibit the typical long-time polynomial decay rate, which is fully consistent with our theoretical predictions.

Abstract:This paper deals with some qualitative properties of solutions to nonlinear neutral hybrid differential equations connected to ψ -Caputo fractional derivative with time-varying lags. First, we demonstrate the problem possesses a mild solution uniquely where the source function may have temporal singularities. Second, in some cases, we indicate that the problem possesses a unique mild solution under some weaker conditions than the previous one. Third, we also obtain a result on a global mild solution for the problem. Finally, the results are further enriched by studying a new type of Ulam–Hyers stability for the main equation. The main results are obtained by applying the nice inequality, first proposed and proven in this paper. Some befit examples are given to justify the applicability of the main results.

Abstract:Let X be a Banach space over R or C . We study Ulam–Hyers stability on the time interval R of linear differential equations with continuous coefficients, considering solutions with values in X for higher order equations, and solutions with values in X n for first-order systems. Roughly speaking, Ulam–Hyers stability of an equation is its property of having an exact solution close to an approximate solution. For a first-order system x ′ = A x , we obtain that its Ulam–Hyers stability is equivalent to another important property, namely for each continuous and bounded function g : R → X n there exists a bounded solution of x ′ = A x + g . Using this result, theory of Jordan forms of matrices and Floquet theory, we characterize the Ulam–Hyers stability of a system x ′ = A x with periodic coefficients in terms of its characteristic multipliers. Our main result states that the Ulam–Hyers stability of a linear equation with periodic coefficients of order n with unknown x is equivalent to the Ulam–Hyers stability of the corresponding system satisfied by ( x , x ′ , … , x ( n − 1 ) ) .

Abstract:In this paper, we study the initial value problem for the fractional differential equation with multiple deviating arguments. By using Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem, the conditions of solvability of the problem are obtained. Furthermore, we establish Ulam–Hyers and generalized Ulam–Hyers stability of the fractional functional differential problem. Finally, two examples are presented to illustrate our results, one is with a pantograph-type equation and the other is numerical.

Abstract:We note that in the literature it is often taken for granted that for fractional-order system without delays, whenever the system trajectory reaches the equilibrium, it will stay there. In fact, this is the well-known phenomenon of finite-time stability. However, in this paper, we will prove that for fractional-order nonlinear system described by Caputo’s or Riemann–Liouville’s definition, any equilibrium cannot be finite-time stable as long as the continuous solution corresponding to the initial value problem globally exists. In addition, some examples of stability analysis are revisited and linear Lyapunov function is used to prove the asymptotic stability of positive fractional-order nonlinear systems.

Abstract:Ulam type stability is an important property studied for different types of differential equations. When this type of stability is applied to boundary value problems, there are some misunderstandings in the literature. In connection with this, initially, we give a brief overview of the basic ideas of the application of Ulam type stability to initial value problems. We provide several examples with simulations to illustrate the main points in the application. Then, we focus on some misunderstandings in the application of Ulam stability to boundary value problems. We suggest a new way to avoid these misunderstandings and how to keep the main idea of Ulam type stability when it is applied to boundary value problems of differential equations. We present one possible way to connect both the solutions of the given problem and the solutions of the corresponding inequality. In addition, we provide several examples with simulations to illustrate the ideas for boundary value problems and we also show the necessity of the new way of applying the Ulam type stability. To illustrate the theoretical application of the suggested idea to Ulam type stability, we consider a linear boundary value problem for nonlinear impulsive fractional differential equations with the Caputo fractional derivative with respect to another function and piecewise-constant variable order. We define the Ulam–Hyers stability and obtain sufficient conditions on a finite interval. As partial cases, integral presentations of the solutions of boundary value problems for various types of fractional differential equations are obtained and their Ulam type stability is studied.

Abstract:A study was conducted on the existence of solutions for a class of nonlinear Caputo type higher-order fractional Langevin equations with mixed boundary conditions on a star graph with $ k+1 $ nodes and $ k $ edges. By applying a variable transformation, a system of fractional differential equations with mixed boundary conditions and different domains was converted into an equivalent system with identical boundary conditions and domains. Subsequently, the existence and uniqueness of solutions were verified using Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem and Banach's contraction principle. In addition, the stability results of different types of solutions for the system were further discussed. Finally, two examples are illustrated to reinforce the main study outcomes.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate a class of multi-term implicit fractional differential equation with boundary conditions. The application of the Schauder fixed point theorem and the Banach fixed point theorem allows us to establish the criterion for a solution that exists for the given equation, and the solution is unique. Afterwards, we give the criteria of Ulam–Hyers stability and Ulam–Hyers–Rassias stability. Additionally, we present an example to illustrate the practical application and effectiveness of the results.
