Abstract:Short-term traffic flow forecasting has been an interesting research area in ITS. During the past three decades, various prediction models have been developed and shown mixed degrees of success. This paper reviews the methods on short-term traffic flow forecasting and points out that the novel methods and proper combination of methods should be the developmental trend for the short-term traffic flow forecasting. © 2011 ASCE.
