Abstract:The secondary metabolites of gorgonian Echinogorgia sassapo reticulata(Esper) were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 and ODS,and HPLC.Thirteen compounds were isolated from the EtOAc portion of extracts,and their structures were identified by spectroscopic analysis as well as comparing with the data of literatures as: uridine(1),2'-deoxythymidine(2),2'-de-oxyuridine(3),uracil(4),batyl alcohol(5),1-O-eicosanylglycerol(6),11,13-dihydro-7,11-dehydro-3-desoxy-zaluzalanin C(7),dibutyl phthalate(8),butyl 2-methylbutyl phthalate(9),(22E)-5α-cholest-22-ene-3α,5α,6β-triol(10),(22E,24S)-24-methyl-5α-cholesta-7,22-diene-3β,5α,6β,9-tetraol(11),(24S)-methylene cholestane-3β,5α,6β,18-tetrol(12),cholesterol(13),respectively.Most of them except compounds 3 and 13 were obtained from this genus for the first time.Compound 9 was isolated firstly as a pure natural product,and 12 was obtained from gorgonian for the first time.Compounds 1-3 were evaluated for their lethal activity toward the brine shrimp Artemia salina and toxicity toward embryo of zebrafish Danio rerio.
