Abstract:Objective: To explore social support and depression among people living with HIV/AIDS and analyze the related factors. Methods: One hundred and six people living with HIV/AIDS were selected using purposive sampling.General condition questionnaire,Social Support Scale(SSS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) were used in the survey.One-way analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used for the result. Results: The SSS values(29.55±8.59) among people with HIV/AIDS were significantly higher than Chinese norm of SSS(P0.01) and the SDS values(44.00±5.34) were significantly lower than Chinese norm of SDS(P0.01).One-way analysis results suggested that people with different routes of infection and whether or not receiving treatment had differences in the scores of SSS(P0.05),people with different ages, routes of infection and whether or not receiving treatment had differences in SDS scores(P0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that age and infection through sexual contact were the positive factors(P0.05),while the SSS was the negative factor(P0.05).Conclusion: People living with HIV/AIDS had poor social support and depression than average people.Interventions should be conducted to enhance the level of social support and relieve depression of people living with HIV/AIDS.
