Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between sperm DNA integrity and semen major parameters. Methods The major parameters and sperm DNA integrity of 370 patients were measured and analyzed according to WHO laboratory handbook about human semen. All patients were divided into different groups based on reference values of semen parameters provided by the WHO laboratory handbook. Sperm DNA integrity was comparatively analyzed among different groups. The relationship between sperm DNA integrity and semen parameters were further investigated. Results No significant differences were found in sperm DNA integrity among different patient age, different sperm motility, and different rapid forward progressive motility(P>0.05). Significant differences were found in sperm DNA integrity among different sperm concentration and different semen stickiness(P<0. 05). Conclusion The process of spermatogenesis the major cause in the sperm DNA integrity; No significant relationships were found between the patient's age, the function of accessory sex gland and sperm DNA integrity; It is important to select the appropriate method of semen processing.
