Abstract:Objective: To study the clinical characteristics of androgenetic alopecia and the compliance of treatment. Methods: 790 patients with androgenetic alopecia were followed-up through phone call. The clinical manifestations and outcome of the treatment were analyzed. Results: Of all 790 patients, 88.5% were males and 11.5% were females. 84.3% patients were at the age between 20-40 years old. 424 patients (53.7%) responded to the follow-up, among whom 13.9% didn' t use any treatment, 86.1% used treatment from less than 3 months to more than 3 years. 57.1% patients used the treatment for more than 6 months. 29.7% for more than one year. Efficacy was found to be related to treatment duration. Good efficacy was seen in those who continued treatment for more than two and three years. 294 patients(69.3%)stopped treatment spontaneously. Conclusion: The compliance of the patients with AGA was not as good as expected, suggesting the difficulty in the treatment of AGA and the necessity of patient education.
