Abstract:In this paper, we prove the following statements:(1) If X is a normal discretely absolutely star-Lindelof space with e(X) < omega(1), then the Alexandroff duplicate A(X) of X is discretely absolutely star-Lindelof.(2) If X is a space with e(X) >= omega(1), then A(X) is not discretely absolutely star-Lindelof. The two statements answer a question raised by Song.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that the cardinality of a star Lindelöf space X does not exceed c if X satisfies one of the following conditions: (1) X has a rank 3-diagonal; (2) X is normal and has a rank 2-diagonal; (3) X is first countable, normal and has a Gδ-diagonal. Moreover, we also obtain several results concerning the general question “When must a star Lindelöf space be star countable?”.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider two questions on absolute star-Lindelofness and star-Lindelofness: (1) Whether every Tychonoff star-Lindelof space can be embedded into some Tychonoff absolutely star-Lindelof space as a closed subspace or as a closed G(delta)-subspace; (2) Characterize the Tychonoff star-Lindelof spaces which can be embedded as regular closed subspaces into Tychonoff absolutely star-Lindelof spaces. We proved that the answer to first question is YES in general. For the second question we give a complete solution.
Some remarks on selectively star-ccc spaces

Abstract:In this paper, the author represent a unification and extension of concepts previously studied by several authors. By establish connections between the chain condition, selectively star-ccc properties and star-Lindelöf properties, the author provide that selectively $3$-star-ccc equals weakly strongly star-Lindelöf for normal spaces, which gives a negative answer to Question 4.10 raised by Xuan and Song in \cite{xuan2}, and use a different method from Xuan and Song to provide that the CCC implies selectively $2$-star-ccc, which gives a positive answer to Problem 4.4 in \cite{bal}. Finally, an example is given to distinguish these properties.

Abstract:In this paper, we study some properties of s-spaces. By means of the addition theorem and the theory of remainders,the following properties are established: (1)if an s-space X is the union of a countable family of metrizable subspaces,then X is sequential;(2)if G is a non-locally compact topological group with a compactification bG such that Y =bG\G is hereditarily an s-space, then either G is separable and metrizable, or G is σ-compact, which generalize and improve some results about s-spaces by Arhangel'skii.

Abstract:A topological space (X, tau) is a D-space if for every function phi: X -> tau with x is an element of phi(x) for each x is an element of X, {phi(x) : x is an element of F} covers X for some closed discrete subset F of X. The Michael line M, one of the most important elementary examples in general topology, is the Euclidean space IR isolating the irrationals. In this note we show that (1) the minimal dense linearly ordered extension of M is hereditarily paracompact, but not monotonically D; (2) the minimal closed linearly ordered extension of M is monotonically D; (3) if the space X is a D-space (resp., a monotone D-space), then so is its Alexandroff duplicate space A(X) and thus A(M) is monotonically D.

Abstract:We show that every regular T1 submeta-Lindelöf space of cardinality ω1 is D under MA+¬CH, which answers a question posed by Gruenhage (2011) [9]. Borges (1991) [5] asked if every monotonically normal paracompact space is a D-space, we give a characterization of paracompactness for monotonically normal spaces, which may be of some use in solving this problem.

Abstract:A space X is said to be monotonically Lindelöf if for any open cover U of X, there exists a countable open cover rU such that rU refines U and if an open cover V of X refines U, then rV refines rU. Gruenhage shows that every Lindelöf first-countable GO-space is monotonically Lindelöf. In the paper we obtain the following result: A Lindelöf GO-space X is monotonically Lindelöf if and only if X has no subspace homeomorphic to a stationary subset of a regular ordinal ⩾ω1; the closure of the set of all points with character ω1 is monotonically Lindelöf.
Strongly discrete subsets with Lindelöf closures

Abstract:We define a topological space to be an "SDL space" if the closure of each one of its strongly discrete subsets is Lindelöf. After distinguishing this property from the Lindelöf property we make various remarks about cardinal invariants of SDL spaces. For example we prove that $|X| \leq 2^{\chi(X)}$ for every SDL Urysohn space and that every SDL $P$-space of character $\leq \omega_1$ is regular and has cardinality $\leq 2^{\omega_1}$. Finally, we exploit our results to obtain some partial answers to questions about the cardinality of cellular-Lindelöf spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we first present some sufficient conditions for the upper semicontinuity and/or the continuity of the Bregman farthest-point map $Q_C^g$ and the relative farthest-point map $S_C^g$ for a nonempty $D$-maximally approximately compact subset $C$ of a Banach space $X$. We next present certain sufficient conditions as well as equivalent conditions for a Klee set to be singleton in a Banach space $X$. Our results extend and/or improve the corresponding ones of [Bauschke, et al., J. Approx. Theory, 158 (2009), pp. 170-183] to infinite dimensional spaces.
On totally Lindelöf spaces

Abstract:The results in this paper answer three questions asked by (NOBLE, 2019) and give a partial answer to a question asked by (ALSTER, 1988). We prove that every Alster space is totally Lindelof and this gives a new characterization of regular Alster spaces. We construct a non-regular totally Lindelof space that is not Alster and we prove that there exists a Lindelof P-space that is not Frolik.

Abstract:The star versions of the Scheepers property, namely star-Scheepers, strongly star-Scheepers and new star-Scheepers property have been introduced. We explore further ramifications concerning critical cardinalities. Quite a few interesting observations are obtained while dealing with the Isbell-Mrówka spaces, Niemytzki plane and Alexandroff duplicates. The properties like monotonically normal, locally countable cellularity (which is introduced here) play an important role in our investigation. We study games corresponding to the classical and star variants of the Scheepers property which have not been investigated in prior works. Some open problems are also posed.

Abstract:It is well known that some classes of spaces such as absolutely countably compact (abbreviated acc) spaces and (a)-spaces are not hereditary with respect to closed, and even regular closed subspaces. In this paper, we investigate conditions for spaces being regular closed embeddable into spaces with certain covering properties, in particular we characterize spaces which can be embedded as regular closed subsets into acc spaces and (a)-spaces. Some examples are presented as applications of the criteria. Two problems raised by Matveev [Topology Appl. 80 (1997) 169–175] are answered.

Abstract:We study the remainders of locally s-spaces and locally Lindelöf Σ-spaces. It is proved that a space X is a locally s-space if and only if every (some) remainder Y of X is a Lindelöf Σ-space outside of some compact subspace F of Y. Some corollaries about this statement are presented. It is showed that if a locally s-space X has a remainder Y with a Gδ⁎-diagonal, then X is an s-space and Y has a countable network. It is also proved that every remainder Y of a locally Lindelöf Σ-space X is an s-space outside of some compact subspace F of Y. In addition, some properties about locally s-spaces are investigated.

Abstract:Let X be a space and W = {W(x) : x is an element of X}, where each W(x) is a countable family of subsets containing x. If X has W satisfying: if x is an element of U and U is open, then there exists an open V = V(x, U) containing x such that x is an element of W subset of U for some W is an element of W(y) whenever y is an element of V, we say that the space X satisfies the Collins-Roscoe property. For simplicity, we call the Collins-Roscoe property (G) in the paper. A neighborhood assignment for a space X is a function cc from X to the topology of X such that x is an element of (phi(x) for all x is an element of X. A space X is said to be a D-space if for every neighborhood assignment phi for X, there exists a closed discrete subset D of X such that X = U{phi(d) : d is an element of D}. Spaces satisfying (G) are D-spaces. We show the following. (1) The preimage of a (monotone) D-space under a fiber-discrete mapping is a (monotone) D-space. (2) Any uncountable subspace of the Sorgenfrey line and the Alexandroff double arrow space do not satisfy (G); the Niemytzki plane is not meta-Lindelof. (3) A space satisfies (G) if and only if its Alexandroff duplicate does so. (4) A locally separable regular space satisfying open (G) is metrizable; a locally quasi-developable, hereditarily meta-Lindelof space has a point-countable base. (5) The Tychonoff product of a D-space and a D-c-space is a D-space. (6) Let X and Y be linearly ordered spaces and Y have the maximal point and the minimal point and satisfy (G). Delta‐points and their implications for the geometry of Banach spaces

Abstract:We show that the Lipschitz‐free space with the Radon–Nikodým property and a Daugavet point recently constructed by Veeorg is in fact a dual space isomorphic to l1 . Furthermore, we answer an open problem from the literature by showing that there exists a superreflexive space, in the form of a renorming of l2 , with a Δ ‐point. Building on these two results, we are able to renorm every infinite‐dimensional Banach space to have a Δ ‐point. Next, we establish powerful relations between existence of Δ ‐points in Banach spaces and their duals. As an application, we obtain sharp results about the influence of Δ ‐points for the asymptotic geometry of Banach spaces. In addition, we prove that if X is a Banach space with a shrinking k ‐unconditional basis with k<2 , or if X is a Hahn–Banach smooth space with a dual satisfying the Kadets–Klee property, then X and its dual X∗ fail to contain Δ ‐points. In particular, we get that no Lipschitz‐free space with a Hahn–Banach smooth predual contains Δ ‐points. Finally, we present a purely metric characterization of the molecules in Lipschitz‐free spaces that are Δ ‐points, and we solve an open problem about representation of finitely supported Δ ‐points in Lipschitz‐free spaces.

They can be used as a natural environment to describe shape properties of compact metric spaces.

Abstract:Monotone star-finiteness defined by Popvassilev and Porter is a stronger property than countable compactness in Hausdorff spaces. A space X is monotonically star finite if for any open cover of X there exists a finite subset F(u) of X such that X = st(F(u), u) and if and are open covers of X with v refining u, then F(u) C F(v), where st(F(u), u) = U{U is an element of u:U boolean AND F(u) not equal 0}. We show that the lexicographically ordered square is not monotonically star-finite. This answers several questions posed in Popvassilev and Porter (2014) [8]. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V.
