Abstract:Using Lagrangian equation based on thermomass theory, the approximate solution to a 1D transient heat conduction problem involving heat source is obtained, which is in good agreement with the exact analytical solution. Certain drawbacks of existing theory are discussed. The present work shows that, based on thermomass theory, heat conduction problems could be treated from the perspective of analytical mechanics. Also, the concepts of thermomass and thermomass energy are to some extent justified.
