An approach to the reduct problem using axiomatic fuzzy sets theory

Abstract:The reduct problem plays an important role in many applications of the rough set theory. In the process of attribute reduction, one expects that important attributes will be selected while redundant attributes are rejected. Some attributes that are relatively important from the viewpoint of some experts may, however, fail to be included in the reduct obtained unless they are core attributes. In this paper, we deal with Axiomatic Fuzzy Set theory to give an approach solution to this kind of reduct problem; the advantage of this approach is that, it can be directly applied to the data analysis present in any information system without resorting to the details concerning the choices of implication φ, t-norm, and a similarity relation. This approach leads to the same results as those derived by traditional approaches and shows us clearly datum, which will be called concepts, related to a reduct. © 2011 ICIC International.
