Abstract:Aim.In our opinion,the traditional algorithm——Interactive Multiple Models Probabilistic Data Association(IMMPDA)——for tracking maneuvering target in cluttered environment suffers from the shortcoming of low tracking precision.Going beyond the improvement by Pan et al~([6]) of IMMPDA algorithm,we put forward a novel algorithm——Interactive Multiple Models Adaptive Probabilistic Data Association(IMMAPDA).In the full paper,we explain our novel algorithm in detail;in the abstract,we just add some pertinent remarks to listing the three topics of our explanation:(A) federated IMMPDA algorithm of Ref.6;under topic A,eq.(1) in the full paper is taken from Ref.6;(B) adaptive Kalman filtering;under topic B,eqs.(2) through(9) in the full paper are taken from the paper by Murat Efe et al~([8]);(C) our novel IMMAPDA algorithm,whose four subtopics are the calculation of interactive/mixed probability,adaptive Kalman filtering,the updating of model probability,and estimation of state and covariance;under the four subtopics we give respectively appropriate mathematical equations,which can all be found in the open literature but,when we put them together,can form the mathematical foundation of our algorithm;under the four subtopics,we give respectively eqs.(10) through(13),eqs.(14) through(20),eqs.(21) and(22),and eqs.(23) and(24).Finally we give a numerical example;Fig.1 in the full paper gives the actual trajectory of the maneuvering target;Figs.2 through 5 give the simulation results.These simulation results indicate preliminarily that our novel IMMAPDA algorithm has a better performance than IMMPDA with decreased computational burden for tracking maneuvering target in cluttered environment;the RMSEs(root mean square errors) of position and velocity are decreased by about 32% and 25% respectively compared with the traditional algorithm.
