A TAXONOMIC STUDY OF THE GENUS HISHIMONOIDES ISHIHARA FROM CHINA (HEMIPTERA, CICADELLIDAE, EUSCELINAE)

Abstract:Two new Chinese species of the genus Hishimonoides Ishihara are described.A key to all six species of this genus found in China is provided. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University.Hishimonoides dentimarginus sp. nov. (Figs.1-7)Body length (incl. tegm.): ♂4.5-4.7mm.Head including eyes as wide as pronotum, wide between eyes slightly more than as twice as median length of vertex, pronotum longer than scutellum.Vertex pale yellow with a transverse reddish brown band,at apex of vertex with two fuscus spots,face pale yellow mottled irregularly with round brown spots. Holotype ♂, paratype 1♂, Huixian (35°27′N,113°47′E), Henan Province,12 July 2002, coll.by CHEN Xiang-Sheng.This new species is allied to Hishimonoides recurvatis Li in appearance and colour pattern,but can be distinguished from the latter by 1) the central region of pronotum black,2) pygofer side obtusely rounded caudally,caudal margin serate,and 3) end of style is concave. Etymology, The new species name is from the Latin dent-plus margin,which means the caudal margin of pygofer side with serrate.Hishimonoides laterosporeus sp. nov.(Figs.8-14)Body length (incl. tegm.): ♂4.6-4.7mm,♀ 4.7-4.8mm.Body shape same as previous species description.Vertex blunty pointed margin, width between eyes more than as twice as middle length.Vertex pale yellow,with a transverse orange band,at apex with two brown spots,pronotum pale yellow with black reticulated striations, abdominal terga and sterna dark brown.Holotype ♂, paratypes: 1♂, 2♀♀, Zhalantun (45°05′N,122°45′E), Nei Mongol Autonomous Region, 27 Aug. 1996, coll. by YANG Mao-Fa.This new species is related to Hishimonoides aurifascialis Kuoh in appearance and colour pattern,but can be distinguished from the latter by 1) pygofer side with a tooth-shaped process,2) outside of the first pair paraphyses with a triangular process, and 3) the second pair of paraphyses is parallel.Etymology, The new species name is from the Latin later-plus spore,which means the first pair paraphyses of aedeagus with a triangular process.
