A checklist is provided for all recorded species in this genus from Iran, with information on the geographical distribution for each species.

Abstract:Abstract The family Aeolothripidae (Thysanoptera, Terebrantia) included seventeen species in four genera from Iran. Here, four species are recorded from Iran for the first time: Aeolothrips albicinctus Haliday, A. cursor Priesner, A. montivagus Priesner and A. gloriosus Bagnall. Abstract:Two new species of the genus Aeolothrips are described from northeast of Iran. A. bhattii sp.n. from flowering Caroxylon dendroides is remarkable for its strikingly bicolored body with brown head and last three abdominal segments. A. laurencei sp.n. from flowers of Elaeagnus angustifolia is characterized by its large and dark brown body, all yellow tarsi and fore wings with two brown transverse bands connected posteriorly.

Abstract:Species of the Holartic genus Odontothrips Amyot & Serville (Thripidae: Thripinae) usually breed in the flowers of Fabaceae. Some species cause slight damage to Fabaceae crops (Pitkin 1972), and O. confusus Priesner sometimes produces high populations on alfalfa in Iran (Mirab-balou et al. 2013). The genus includes 31 species in the world (ThripsWiki 2013), of which four have been recorded from Iran (Mirab-balou and Chen 2011). Recently an undescribed species of Odontothrips was collected on flowers of alfalfa, and this is described below. Type specimens are deposited in the collection of Department of Plant Protection, College of Agriculture, Ilam University, Iran (ILAMU); and in the Insect Collection, Department of Entomology, South China Agricultural University, China (SCAU). Full nomenclatural information about Thysanoptera is available on the web (ThripsWiki 2013).

Abstract:A new checklist of Thysanoptera from China (including Taiwan) is provided. In total 566 species in 155 genera are listed, of which there are 313 species in the suborder Terebrantia, comprising 290 species in 74 genera in family Thripidae, 18 species in three genera in Aeolothripidae, two species in one genus in Melanthripidae and three species in one genus in Merothripidae. In the suborder Tubulifera 253 species in 76 genera are listed in the single family Phlaeothripidae. Two species, Aeolothrips collaris and Odontothrips meliloti, are newly recorded for the fauna of China.

Abstract:The Odontiinae species of Iran are reviewed. Tegostoma pseudosarobiella Alipanah & Nazari sp. n. and T. tremewani Alipanah & Nazari sp. n. are newly described. Tegostoma moeschleri (Christoph, 1862) is considered as a senior synonym of T. uniforma Amsel, 1951 syn. n., T. lepidalis lepidalis (Herrich-Schäffer, 1851) as a senior synonym of T. lepidalis apurpurealis Amsel, 1970 syn. n., and Aeschremon belutschistanalis Amsel, 1959 as a senior synonym of Tegostoma marginalis Amsel, 1961 syn. n. The genus Autocharis Swinhoe, 1894 and five species, namely Aporodes dentifascialis Christoph in Romanoff, 1887, Cynaeda forsteri de Lattin, 1951, Aeschremon ochrealis Asselbergs, 2008, A. desertalis Asselbergs, 2008 and Autocharis fessalis (Swinhoe, 1887) are newly reported for the fauna of Iran. The redescription of female of Tegostoma confluentalis Hampson, 1913, male genitalia of Aeschremon belutschistanalis, and female genitalia of Epimetasia abbasalis Amsel, 1974 are presented. The hitherto unknown female of A. belutschistanalis and the hitherto unknown male of E. abbasalis are described and illustrated. The intraspecific variations of the species if present are discussed and additional new diagnostic characters to separate the closely related species are presented. Data on the geographical distribution of the Iranian species of this subfamily as well as their distribution maps are provided.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Mongolotettix Rehn, 1928 from China, i.e. Mongolotettix wulingyuanensis sp. nov. and Mongolotettix. shaanxiensis sp. nov. are described herein. M. wulingyuanensis sp. nov. is similar to M. angustiseptus Wan, Ren & Zhang, 1998, but differs from the latter by body larger, length of body ♂ 25.6 mm, ♀ 39.1mm; tegmina of male without a white stripe on the fore margin at base; subgenital plate of male conical, sides concave, apex acute; both outer sides of epiphallus without acute projection in the middle. M. shaanxiensis sp. nov. is similar to M. anomopterus (Caudell, 1921), but differs from the latter by tegmina of male longer, reaching the end of epiproct, without a white stripe on the fore margin at base, tegmina of female longer, reaching the middle of 2nd abdominal tergum, width of epiphallus larger than height, upper ovipositor valve slender, length 3.8 times its maximum width. A key to all nine known species of the genus from China is given. Type specimens are deposited in the Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xining, 810001, China.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Pseudachorutes, namely P. hyrcanicus sp. nov. and P. kurdistanicus sp. nov., are described based on materials from different parts of Iran. P. hyrcanicus sp. nov. seem to be especially similar to Pseudachorutes dubius Krausbauer, 1898 and Pseudachorutes vitalii Kaprus Weiner, 2009, two congeners with the same labral formula (4/2,3,4), shape of apical bulb (trilobed) and details of chaetotaxy (unpaired chaeta d1 present and a0 absent on head, a2 chaeta absent on Tht. II and III, m row chaetae present on Abdt. IV, tibiotarsi I-III with 18, 18, 17 chaetae respectively), but are distinguished by the number of chaetae on Tht. I (4+4 in P. dubius, 3+3 in P. vitalii and P. hyrcanicus sp. nov.) and Abdt. IV (11+11 in P. dubius and P. hyrcanicus sp.nov. and 14(15) + 14 in P. vitalii), number of teeth at mandible (two in P. dubius and P. vitalii and four in P. hyrcanicus sp.nov.) and claw (lateral teeth present in P. dubius and P. vitalii and absent in P. hyrcanicus sp.nov.). Pseudachorutes kurdistanicus sp. nov. is related to P. laricis Arbea Jordana,1989 and P. vasylii Kaprus Weiner, 2009 because of the same type of chaetotaxy of head (d1 chaetae present and a0 chaeta absent), Tht. I (3+3 chaetae), Tht. II-III (without a2 chaeta), Abdt. IV (m row chaetae absent), Abdt. V (a2 and p2 chaetae absent) and the absence of lateral teeth on claws. The last three species differ in number of vesicles in PAO (1112 in P. kurdistanicus sp. nov., 46 in P. vasylii and 7-97-9 in P. laricis), shape of apical vesicle on Ant. IV. (trilobed in P. kurdistanicus sp. nov. and simple or slightly bilobed in the other two species), labral formula (4/2,3,4 in a new species, 2/2,3,3,4 in P. laricis and 2/3,3,4 in P. vasylii) and number of chaetae on tibiotarsi I-III (18, 18, 17 in a new species and 19, 19, 18 in the other two species). An identification key of the species of Pseudachorutes recorded so far from Iran is given.
