Polymethoxylated Flavonoids from the Leaves of Murraya Paniculata

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the polymethoxylated flavonoids in the leaves of Murraya paniculata.METHODS The chemical constituents were isolated by column chromatographic methods of silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 etc.The structures of the compounds were elucidated on the basis of their spectroscopic evidence and physicochemical properties.RESULTS Seven compounds were isolated and identified as:5,3′-dihydroxy-7,8,4′,5′-tetramethoxyflavone (1),5,4′-dihydroxy-7,3′-dimethoxyflavone (2),5-hydroxy-7,3′,4′-trimethoxyflavone (3),(2S)-5,6,7,3′,4′-pentamethoxyflavanone (4),5,6,7,8,3′,4′,5′-heptamethoxyflavone (5),5-hydroxy-6,7,3′,4′ tetramethoxyflavone (6) and (2S)-5,6,7,3′,4′,5′-hexamethoxyflavanone (7).CONCLUSION All compounds were isolated from the genus Murraya for the first time.
