Abstract:Objective To analyze the changes in neovascularization of the survival cancerous tissue after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) with lipiodol in rabbits bearing VX2 liver tumor. Methods Thirty-six rabbits model bearing VX2 liver tumor were randomly divided into 3 groups: experimental group(group A,n=24),pseudo-operative group(group B,n=6) and control group(group C,n=6).Digital subtraction angiography(DSA) examinations of the hepatic artery and portal veins were performed on 15th day after tumor implantation.Rabbits in group A underwent TACE with lipiodol,in group B were dealt with 0.9% sodium chloride 2 ml,in group C were killed after DSA for histopathologic examination. On 22nd day,the remaining models underwent DSA again and then were killed. Results The tumors were hypervascular and mainly fed by the left hepatic artery in 35 rabbits. In the peripheral cancerous tissues, immunohistochemistry showed that the positive rate of the VEGF expression was(62.04±19.91)%,(43.38±19.65)%,(43.18±14.01)% in three groups, and the MVD counting was 39.26±6.80,28.69±5.43,28.71±5.68,respectively.There were statistical differences among three groups(P0.05).There was positive correlation between the VEGF expression and the MVD counting(r=0.46,P=0.01).Conclusion VEGF expression and MVD counting increasing caused by the hypoxia condition after TACE in rabbits bearing VX2 liver tumor indicates that it is necessary to strengthen antiangiogenesis therapy for liver tumor.
