Abstract:Experiments were conducted to study the drag-reduction characteristics of the surfactant solution (CTAC/NaSal) under different concentrations and temperatures condition in a water loop system. It was found that the cationic surfactant solution showed greatly drag-reduction characteristics, and there existed a critical temperature at each concentration. It also demonstrated the temperature-effect phenomenon. In this paper, we explained this phenomenon based on micro-scale and energy analysis. According to analyzing the relationship between the drag reduction and the heat transfer reduction, we proposed a new approach to change the heat transfer characteristics of drag-reducing solution by controlling the temperature.
