Abstract:This article is an attempt to compare the eight-layer three-dimensional woven fabric made from glass and carbon-glass fibers and evaluate its tensile properties. After the 3D weaving process of glass fiber and carbon-glass fiber, the composites were made by hand layup then impregnated with epoxy resin before the tensile properties were measured. The research indicated that the composites from carbon-glass fiber (carbon fiber: glass fiber=3:4) offers higher maximum force and compressive strength than composites made from glass fiber only.
