Abstract:The crystals were prepared by the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) method with iodine as transport agent at a temperature gradient of 820/850��C. The crystal structure was established by the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique with the following crystal data: NaMo6X9Cl4, Mr=1368. 00, triclinic, P1?, a=9. 201(4), b=14.52(1), c=9.150(3) ?, ��=101. 87(4), ��=114. 74(3), ��=97.84(5)�� V= 1052(1) ?3, Z=2, Dc=4. 31 g/cm3, F(000)=1179. 25, ��=156. 64 cm-1, R= 0.054, Rw=0. 064. The compound exhibits one-dimensional character and the most important result concerning this structure is a statistical distribution of the capped ligand atoms(X(1)-X(8)) and the bridge ligand atoms(X(9)) with X=Cln+I1-n. The structure formula is [Mo6X8 i]Cl4 aX 2/2 a-a.

Abstract:The crystal structure of hexaammonium diacetyl-octa-molybdate tetrahydrate, (NH4)(42)[Mo132O372 (CH3COO)(30)(H2O)(72)] is documented. The crystals are triclinic, space group P-1, with a=8.1018(16) angstrom, b=10.334(2) angstrom, c=12.238(2) angstrom, alpha=68.20(3)degrees, beta=74.98(3)degrees, gamma=67.25(3)degrees, V=869.3(3) angstrom, Z=1. The structure. was solved by direct methods and refined by least squares methods to a Final R1 = 0.0374 and wR2 = 0. 1074 for 3805 observed reflections with I > 2 sigma(I). The structure contains ammonium cations and isolated acetyl octamolybdate(6-)anions, [Mo8O28(CH3CO)(2)](6-).
