Abstract:Cost estimation model and cost reduction model of product are compared. Their application purpose is different, and cost reduction model demands a deeper insight into the way of presenting product information than cost estimation model. Hierarchical structure of product cost model which integrates product structure tree, cost structure and product design process is proposed, where the parameters affecting the cost estimation of each part and assembly are embedded into the product structure tree to facilitate the cost control in design process. A case study of oil damper ZUMD-02V shows the effectiveness of the new approach.

Abstract:Cost estimation of Engineering to Order(ETO) was the prerequisite to provide reasonable quotations for customers.To deal with this problem,a cost estimation method based on cost model was put forward.Relationships among the customers' requirements,component materials and manufacturing processes were described as cost model.Then cost estimation of new component was obtained by the control of cost model according to requirement parameters of customers.A cost estimation method based on feature,part and component level was also proposed.The proposed method proved its application in accurately and quickly obtaining component manufacturing cost.

Abstract:With increasingly serious environmental problems, a circular economy production system is in urgent needs. This study explores whether green manufacturing (GM) is expensive and how external institutional environmental pressures influence the cost of GM among industrial enterprises in emerging economies. Through an analysis of 10,380 observations of 1470 listed manufacturing firms in the Chinese share market from 2008 to 2015, this paper finds that GM increases operating cost (OC). In addition, the positive relationship between GM and OC is strengthened with reduced pollution level in the local city. Furthermore, synergistic effects of the local pollution level and the local government's pollution information transparency are found. Firms' OC increases more as firms carry out GM when both the local pollution level and pollution information transparency of local government are high, or when the local pollution level and the local government's pollution information transparency are low.

Abstract:Rational, accurate cost estimation can make mass customization production more efficient and provide quicker quoted price service for customer. This research work aims to establish a manufacturing cost estimation model based on machining feature for designer to accomplish the cost estimating of a product at the early design stage of product life cycle. In order to construct this manufacturing cost model, the conception of machining feature was proposed. Based on it, a machining feature specification file was constructed. This file contains the data and information that are used to estimate machining time and cost, including machining feature identifier, process-planning parameters, machining feature position data, and machining feature geometric data. This manufacturing cost estimation model, besides estimating machining time and cost, is also to deal with set-up cost and non-productive cost. To update the setting value of process-planning parameters because of the change of machining feature geometric data, the manufacturing knowledge was implemented, and which was represented by hybrid knowledge representation techniques such as production rules and object-oriented knowledge. Moreover, the architecture of manufacturing cost estimation system and its techniques were introduced. Finally, the workflow of manufacturing cost estimation using this system and several key technologies were explained in detail.

Abstract:Product costing is an essential aspect of business strategy as it allows companies to forecast a product's future revenues and expenses and make informed decisions about its development and production. One of the main challenges in the manufacturing sector is the difficulty in selecting the optimal production setup. This can be due to changes in the product or component during the manufacturing process, leading to difficulties in defining the best production quantity and forecasting production costs. Low productivity is another challenge faced by industrial organizations, which can affect their profitability. A case study was conducted in the glove manufacturing industry. The main objective of this research is to model the production cost for the selected case study. Cost modeling in the manufacturing industry involves creating a representation or simulation of a manufacturing process to estimate the costs associated with producing a product. Developing a cost model for the manufacturing industry involves collecting data from the industry and existing literature; developing a cost model with several function modules based on the data; validating the model by comparing its estimates to actual costs; and using the model for cost estimation, budgeting, and product pricing while keeping it updated and calibrated regularly to ensure its accuracy over time. Based on simulation analysis, productivity was improved by 4.0% compared to the original layout. In addition, the production cost per box was reduced by 4.2%. The results from this research can help companies to manage their resources and improve their profitability more effectively.

Abstract:The article analyzed issues plagued the ABCM implementation in Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Local enterprises might face the technical difficulties to cope with complex allocation of indirect cost into various activities. Most of them found that the ABCM software as well as related service charge was too expensive for them. Most importantly, their management teams and accountants might not have the ability to utilize this information and create added value for companies. However, the implementation of the concept into real practice was a wise way to enhance management level. Therefore, it was recommended that selection of experimental companies to apply ABCM, developing new software providers and training programs would be feasible way to popularize the application of ABCM in China.

Abstract:This research study revolves around a case study company, which manufactures electric and electronics products. The objective of this work is to compare Activity-Based Costing (ABC) and Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDBAC). This work began by collecting data related to the production costs of a selected product. The product has been selected based on the volume of production which is high and continuous. The next phase in this study involved analyzing costs using ABC and TDABC method. These costing methods are compared on the accuracy and the unused capacity. The results showed that TDABC improves the costing accuracy and helps reducing waste by introducing time equation on the production cost structure. Finally, it is concluded that from this comparative study, TDABC would be beneficial to the company in a competitive environment and future further studies on product costing.

Abstract:An activity-based carbon-computing method was proposed by using the thinking of activity-based costing for reference. Firstly, theconception and principle of the activity-based carbon-computing method were presented; then the carbon-computing model of the productmanufacturing process was established based on activity; the acquisition and calculation approach of the key elements of the computing modelwere analyzed and presented; Finally, a case study was presented, which demonstrates the validity of the proposed method. The research re-sult can be furtherly applied to the low carbon evaluation and optimization.

Abstract:Applying complex network theory to mass customization field, with the configuration result of product, a relation network of components and parts of product was construct. A computing algorithm of cost based on birth-first searching algorithm was proposed, two different computing algorithms of due dates, one based on shortest-path search and the other based on simple path search algorithm, were put forwarded, the function and efficiency of the algorithms was analyzed. Abstract:Abstract The traditional cost management mode of China is used to make the cost of the production, and the cost management of the “commodity” is the cost management of the production process, the cost management of the product development and design of the pre-production, which is increasingly difficult to adapt to the needs of the modern social and economic development, has greatly hindered the improvement of the competition capacity of the enterprise commodity market. Based on the operation cost method, the paper will provide an example for the application of the operating cost method in manufacturing. In addition, the research on the final implementation of cost management is not very good. Combined with the methods of reducing the cost of industrial engineering, this paper continuously improves and controls the problems in the company’s operating cost management, and verifies the feasibility through empirical research and a large number of experiments.

Abstract:Based on the existing scholars' theoretical researches on the traditional cost-volume-profit analysis and theory of activity-based costing, this paper introduces the activity-based cost-volume-profit analysis into the actual cases, redivides the cost of M Company on the basis of theory of activity-based costing, and analyzes the break-even point and sensitivity coefficient of the redivided cost. Moreover, the results of the traditional cost-volume-profit analysis are compared with the results of the activity-based cost-volume-profit analysis, in aid of helping M Company find the most critical points that really affect the profit of the enterprise and find the profitability of each product. Furthermore, combined with the actual situation of M Company, this paper puts forward the corresponding cost control countermeasures, and draws the conclusion that the work-based cost-volume profit analysis is more suitable for the current production of the enterprise, which also provides certain reference value for other similar furniture manufacturing enterprises.

Abstract:<p>Quantification and analysis of manufacturing costs in additive manufacturing (AM) are important research tasks, since materials and machines for AM are relatively expensive. To enable the cost estimation in AM, a number of studies have focused on the development of cost estimation software tools for AM. However, these studies mainly focused on single AM systems and materials pre-selected for individual cases. The literature still lacks of a more general perspective on the cost factors and cost structure in different AM processes. Addressing this issue, this paper contributes a general cost model for AM processes and the development of a cost estimation application (App) based on the model. The developed App covers a variety of AM materials and systems. In order to validate the usability of the App, three use cases are performed. The result of the use cases demonstrates that the App, as well as the underlying cost model, is a powerful tool for estimating and assessing the build cost of AM in different design issues.</p>

Research on the Calculation Methods of Automobile Technology Cost Base on Chinese Market

Abstract:In order to evaluate the cost effectiveness of automobile technology in Chinese market, it is necessary to establish a cost research method for automobile technology. Based on the research methods of automobile technology cost in the world at present, this paper puts forward the research methods of technology cost suitable for the Chinese market. The methods are used to estimate the direct manufacturing cost (DMC), indirect cost (IC) and future technology cost of automobile technology. The research conclusions are as follows: firstly, the relevant manufacturing data of technology should be obtained based on the tear-down method. Direct manufacturing cost of relevant technology should be calculated by combining the manufacturing boundary and manufacturing database of Chinese market based on the manufacturing data. Secondly, the indirect cost of automobile technology should be calculated by combining the advantages of the retail price equivalent method (RPE) and the indirect cost multiplier method (ICM) based on the financial statements of automobile manufacturers in Chinese market and the adjustment factors studied by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports. Finally, because of the complexity of the two-factor learning curve, it is suggested to use the single-factor learning curve to describe the cost progress of automobile technology. Considering that the automotive technology gap between China and foreign countries is gradually narrowing, it is effective to use the learning factors of various technologies studied in the EPA report to describe the learning effect and technology cost progress of automotive technology in the Chinese market. Through the study of various costing methods, this paper can provide a method for Chinese automobile manufacturers to calculate the cost of automobile technology when they make technical route selections.

Abstract:s:Using machine tool products as object, the requirement of consumer as entry, the quoted price as output, the internal and external environment of manufacturing system as constraint, the speediness and accuracy as performance requirements, this paper established a system for rapid quoting for machine tool products. The methods of cost estimation, including the intuitive method, analogical method, the parametric method, and the analytical method are used to make the model of the relationship of performance and cost of machine tool. Integrated principles and methods of rapid quoting are presented in this paper. An example case of horizontal machining center is also shown.

Abstract:By the 1980s, Traditional Cost Accounting (TCA) is no longer reflecting the current economic reality due to distorted information about the profitability of their orders, products, and customers. In addition, Activity-based Costing (ABC) is a costing method originally developed to overcome the shortcoming of TCA method in the era of rapidly increasing product complexity and diversification. However, it is not universally accepted because it ignores the potential for unused capacity which will be beneficial for forecasting. The objective of this work is to compare the advantages of ABC and Time-driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) by analyzing the features towards costing sustainment. The work begins by collecting data at electric electronic industry located at Pahang and the product selected is a magnetic inductor. ABC focuses on the costs inherent in the activity based products to produce, distribute or support the products concerned. TDABC uses time equation and capacity cost rate (CCR) to measure the unused capacity with respect to the time and cost. This work has successfully compares the methodology between ABC and TDABC in electronic industry. The item such as stages for cost allocation, determination of drivers, action taken for an additional activity, cost consideration for implementation, system building, system update, information given from each method, transparency, overestimation of cost, differentiation of service level, oversimplification of activities and capacity forecast and planning. It concludes that both have their strength according to the industry needs.

A case study approach is used to identify the key factors that influence inventory management in a factory. Efficient and effective inventory management practices are derived from the case study and may provide practical guidance for foreign manufacturers in China. This study provides a valuable tool for identifying the key factors in inventory management which can be applied to similar problems encountered in actual manufactories.
